Chapter 1 - The System

Chapter 1 - The System

In the not so distant past, monsters began appearing, disrupting daily life. Modern civilization had no way of defending against these monsters, that is until those blessed by the gods emerged. With the ability to wield light as a weapon, humanity was able to push back the creatures of dark. However, there were those who wished to use the abilities of monsters, and instead of receiving the blessing of a god, they received a blessing from a devil. The split formed between humanity, those who controlled shadows fought with those who controlled light. Due to the bloodshed, humans decided to allow ‘Shadow walkers’ to continue to live, uncontrolled. After a few decades, those who controlled shadows were getting along with those who used light. The heroes that saved humanity were dubbed ‘Sun Walkers’ and schools opened, teaching those who were gifted blessings. Those who learned became Sun walkers and drove the monsters into the darkness, creating dungeons, which endlessly spawned more monsters. It was a Walkers job to make sure that no monsters escaped.

*Slam*

“Just leave! You don't even have a blessing!” A man yelled, anger and frustration dripping from his words. “You don’t deserve to be taught.” He added while locking a door behind him. In an alley, a teenager stood up, dusting the dirt off of his back. His eyes were wet, he was on the verge of tears. With a sullen mood, he began the walk to his house.

Opening the door, he was greeted with a small apartment. Tossing his belongings onto the floor, he sat on his bed and stared out the window. “This is the seventh time.” He muttered with sadness. He had been kicked out of the only Sun Walker schools in the area. He curled up into a ball and began to weep softly. “What’s the point of the name Walker?” He wondered. Damion Walker, he was a descendant of one of the most powerful Sun Walkers, his grandpa, Benjamin Walker. He ended up crying himself to sleep.

Once Damion woke up, he got up and started doing his usual routine, until he remembered he didn’t have to leave anymore. Disheartened, He sat back down on his bed and just thought about his situation. “Mom and dad will probably be calling soon.” He thought, dreading the future conversation. “Might as well just get a job.” He said with a depressed sigh. Just as he was going to get up, a ding was heard.

[The System Has Been Transferred]

“Huh?” He was startled, as two notifications appeared in front of him.

[To Open The Attribute Window, Say ‘Status’]

He just stared at the screen, not exactly sure if he should do it. After thinking for a bit, he came to a conclusion. “Why not, I’ve nothing else to lose.” With a boost in determination, he listened to the text. “Status.”

[Attributes] [Light] [Shadow] [Quests]

More text appeared in front of him, and he did the next thing he could think of. “Attributes.”

“Ap must be attribute points.” He thought, thinking back on his attribute window. “I was thinking this could be a dream, but my mind is too clear for it to be one.” He still wasn’t sure if this was real or just a prank somehow. He decided to just play along. He finished the workout after a few minutes. Although his strength was low, he had a surprisingly high stamina.

100 sit-ups ✓ 100 squats ✓ 10 km run ✓

“I just need to do the run.” He mumbled while picking up his shoes. His apartment complex was next to a park, so he was able to complete the run with relative ease, he also ran into others running.

10 km run ✓

After he was done, he headed back home and took a shower and laid on his bed. Even though he had good stamina, 10km was still too much to run without a break, he would need to stop next time. “Attributes.”

“What does she want?” He wondered as he answered the phone. “Hello?” He asked. “Hey, do you have time to talk?” A woman asked.
