See You Soon

Whoosh… whoosh…

A hooded archer fired two different colored (brown and orange) arrows as he hid behind a huge boulder. When the brown arrow reached the Knight, the knight scoffed at the damage done.

“oii noob!! Your damage is lower than a level 8 Goblin,” he laughed.

Just then, the orange arrow struck the same place. looking again at the tiny damage number that appeared above his head, he scoffed “What a lose…”

Before he could complete his sentence, the knight’s body went up in flames and his HP bar hit zero as he fell to the ground.

Seeing the method in which his teammate had died, a hunky warrior raged, “Ye Chen, you bastard, I will tear you to pieces and kill all the members of luxclub.,”

Behind the rock, Ye Chen tried his best to not laugh while looking at Arnold’s flared nose and stomping, which made me look like a raging bull.

He then took a dark blue color arrow from the quiver on his back and shot it between him and Arnold.

Looking at Arnold warily moving back instead of charging front Chen sighed, “This mad bull is smart but to think he would run away. Tsk”

He walked away as a slight grin appeared on his face.

If someone had seen the warrior running away from an archer, they would have had their mouths wide open. An archer who could scare Arnold Zeffer, one of the top 10 warriors and the vice-leader of Legacy, in such a manner must be really strong.

But only Arnold knew that if he had charged, there was only death awaiting him. Had it been any other ranked player, he would have fought fearlessly but soloing Ye Chen who had wasted one year to completely comprehend the

Game mechanics, it was only wise to run away.

Looking at Ye Chen’s grinning face as he walked into the headquarters, the members of luxclub understood that Ye Chen was satisfied with today’s task.

“ahh! It’s been 14 days and yet he hasn’t given up,” said the vice leader as he facepalmed. Looking at his departing figure, frustration was written on everybody’s face and they started to murmur among themselves.

A boy in white-colored armor asked with a blank look on his face. “Why is everyone so angry?”

“Hmm, you must be a recruit. Since you have already joined us, you know that Chen pays us to be members of this guild. although the pay is nice, it doesn’t feel like a guild.”

“True! true! the only guild activity we do is fulfill Chen’s personal wishes like killing a player back to level zero because he refused to sell a piece of equipment. Although it is frustrating, the pay is great.” A ninja intervened.

“Moreover, the guild master thinks that we are too inferior for him to talk to us. but we put up with his behavior because the pay is good.” said another player.

Oblivious to all the bad-mouthing about him, Chen smiled gleefully as he said to the vice leader, “continue to hunt the members of legacy. Let’s see till when can he refuse my offer.”

With furrowed brows, the vice leader replied, “but that would obstruct the development of the guild and we have already found the substitute for that equipment.”

He shooed the vice leader while he transferred 10000 gold coins to him and logged out.

Removing his helmet, he shook his head and then massaged his neck. walking towards the bathroom he made a note in his holowatch–“Buy the immersive dive capsule.”

The rest of the day proceeded according to his routine of having a bath, breakfast, college, lunch, scrolling the forums and trading.

At 5 past seven, he walked towards his red Maserati wearing a long furry blue overcoat over his white track pants and black t-shirt. he pressed the pedal as he zipped towards his father’s office.

It had been four years since he moved out of his parent’s home and business. They would only meet on his birthday, their wedding anniversary, and Christmas.

Throwing the keys at the valet, he walked to an old man named Zhou Wang, his father’s secretary.

Looking at the man’s gloomy expression, he asked, “What’s wrong, Uncle Wang? ”

- “Young Master, your parents’ plane had crashed on their way back.”

Ye Chen opened his mouth to say something, but no words came out. tears rolled down his cheeks as he stood there shocked.

Although there was not much interaction between his parents and him, he still loved them.

Even after he moved out, his parents never stopped caring for him. They still bore his rent and daily expenses. They had always supported him; Even when he became a professional gamer, they didn’t stop him.

Coming back to his senses he questioned, “but is a plane crash possible in this decade?”

“Young master, this has been troubling me too. if it had been 2023, I would have agreed but in 2031 for a plane to crash is almost impossible.”

Chen knew that the automation tech was not perfect and there would be 2-3 crashes every 2 Years but what puzzled him was that his father’s plane had crashed, which was equipped with the best A.I and automation available.

Overwhelmed by his scattered emotions, he rushed home to get ahold of himself.

It was only a day later that he came out of his room. looking at his red and puffy eyes in the mirror he scolded himself, “You are not a kid anymore, take control of your emotions.”

Taking a quick shower, he wore his clothes and zipped towards the office.

Reaching, he rushed towards secretary Wang’s office without even closing the door of his car.

Seeing his heavy breathing, Uncle Wang offered him a seat and tea. Noticing that Chen had regained his breath he spoke, “There is more, your uncle has taken over the company.”

Hearing this, Chen slammed his hand on the table. “But the will has my name and I also have the 10 million credits to trigger the acquisition clause.”

“that should have been the case but …”

“But what.” Chen raised his voice.

But your uncle called a meeting of the board as soon as you left and, in the meeting, he declared that because of the loss of your parents your emotional state might not be stable. So, he would manage his brother’s legacy until you proved that you could handle this company.

Although the board was reluctant, he convinced them by stating that if you can deposit 10 million credits by yourself, he would back down.

Completing the devastating speech, he looked at Chen who had closed his eyes and showed no expression on his face.

There was not a single movement in the next 3 minutes. Uncle Wang, who was calmly sitting, suddenly furrowed his bow as he noticed a faint killing intent emitting from Chen. Trained in martial arts for Years he could notice even the slightest killing intent and this intent was very feeble, so he thought that it must have been unintentional.

“Don’t worry, I will sell my car and the guild. it should provide me enough money to take over.”

“About that… He has confiscated all your belongings that had been bought using the company’s funds. also… the company will not bear the rent of your home. you are all on your own young master.”

Hearing this, Chen remembered that the only thing his father had ever requested him “be careful over your uncle and never let my hard word fall into his hands.”

While Chen was in his thoughts. Uncle Wang was sweating as his hands tightly gripped the armrest. With great difficulty, he uttered, “Ye Chen”. this woke Ye Chen from his thoughts.

Unaware of what he had done. Ye Chen ignored Uncle Wang as he got up and walked towards the door. just before exiting, he calmly said, “See you soon, Mr. Wang.”

Seeing that Ye Chen had left. Uncle Wang slumped back into his chair as he noticed the goosebumps on his hand and murmured “ this combination of calmness and intense killing intent his only released by a killer.”
