Chapter 2

As Thomas and David were making their way through the forest, their second home they knew like the back of their hand, they finally spot what they are looking for.

In the world of Physis, all nature that may be magic related or involved, there was a few types of plants and, in this case trees that were common to all who walked the land. One of those, which the boys were currently looking to cut a branch from, is the Ivory Evergreen.

Known for its high strength and the inability to burn under low flames, but rather deform like a metal, its a commodity for all smiths, and the boys time hiding this Ivory Evergreen finally paid off. Unlike other saplings which were guarded like a national tressure buy smiths or their guards, this one was yet to be discovered.

“Hand me the saw, would ya!” shouted Thomas as he slowly cut into the tree branch, which was the perfect size for the base of a short sword or a small dagger or two.

After a few hours and two saw blades later, with numerous shouting to the point that you would think someone would come over by now, the boys succeeded in their mission. The result was a branch the size of a limb, which would already go for about half a small silver on the market.

While the boys were heading back though, they heard the sound of rushing wind.

While Thomas carried the branch, David was trying to find where the sound was coming from.

Thomas, after seeing his friend looked all around, closed his eyes and sighed, “I believe there was a storm blowing down one of the other settlements from what the merchants told me, it doesn’t surprise me that-” He opens his eyes to see his friend turned behind him and his mouth hanging wide open.

He turns to see what his friend is looking at to see a large, steel ball falling from the sky and coming down into the forest.

After a few seconds the trees make way for it and it disappears into the forest.

“What in gods name was that!?” David exclaims, with Thomas equally as shocked. Suddenly a thought pops into Thomas’s mind “What if that was a meteorite?! Those metals from them usually sell for multiple gold coins on the market! If we can find where it landed we could strike it rich!!”

David’s eyes light up in excitement, and they both agree to go find that ‘meteorite’.

Astra walks out of her emergency escape pod, to find trees as far as the eye could see, with some light shrubbery and fungi growing on the bed of this forest.

After she grabbed all the supplies she could acquire from the ship that were useful in her current situation, like the de-atomizer and re-atomizer android attachment she clipped onto her arms outer expansion slot, which was basically a square box that opened and closed inside her arm to allow for add-on’s, alongside a basic laser rifle and pistol, which could be powered from her androids internal bio generator.

Unauthorized tale usage: if you spot this story on Amazon, report the violation.

She hauled the rest, which included but wasn’t limited to a few MRE’s, purified water for decontamination, an insta-tent, basically a 2 man tent with automated setup and deconstruction features for most weather conditions, a utility knife and alongside a few power cells she could find from various things, and lastly a small crafting drone which she had to transfer over before she left ship. Thankfully she found one that was still 100% functional.

She had also brought a large backpack from one of the crews personal belongings, alongside a photo of the captain, which her internal logic told her was completely unnecessary but somehow she just felt it was right internally regardless of what the androids processes said.

Most of the powered equipment including the power cells themselves had small external solar panels for recharging, but they were extremely slow hence the need for backup power cells in case the need for instant power.

She walked over to one of the trees, and using her sensory input, which was a completely new feeling to Astra, went over and touched the Tree.

Astra looked up to see the tree was over thirty feet in height.

As she was about to let go, a small bird, no bigger than her fist landed on top of her hand. She observed the bird curiously, but not long after the bird flew away, and Astra heard a noise to her left. She turned her head to find a few young males humans, little over five feet tall peeking out from behind a tree observing her.

They both had blue eyes, one had dirty blond hair, the other a dark red. The one with dirty blonde also had a slightly crooked nose, and was on the shorter side of the two.

‘That’s strange, this planet shouldn’t be within the goldilocks zone to host intelligent life, yet here they are.’ After quickly deducting that they sun was too dark to be the right temperature, yet she realized the temperature of her body was the same as if it was on one of the core colonized planets.

Deciding to focus on the more important matters at hand, she walked towards the two kids, who were roughly dressed in renaissance era clothes and slowly deciphered the language they were speaking.

She took her laser pistol from one hand for precautionary measure and she finally managed to decipher the language they were talking with.

“-you think she is from? Could she be a mage?”

“Mages don’t walk around with metal tools like that David, I think she is from the dwarven race, or at least a half dwarf.”

“Hello there” she tried to say, and the intention seemed loud and clear, a wake up call to both of the kids.

“H-Hi Mrs.” The one not called David, with the dark red hair spoke. “We are sorry for intruding on your space, please spare us, we promise it won’t happen again!!”

Astra, new to the land thought that this may be a form of territorial thing to these kids, possibly involving this ‘Mage’ character she heard them mention earlier. Knowing what she knew about primitive earth, she stated “Take me to your leader or elder.”

The boys looked at each other, seeming confused by the statement. “If you mean the baron of this area, we don’t have the ability to see him, but we can take you to my father, one of the elder blacksmiths of the village.” the one with red hair stated.

“That should suffice, lead the way.”
