CH89-Reunion.

Samael sat still in his room for some time as he waited for the helpers to get him in his outfit.

Today was the day of the serenity ball. The very event awaited by many, both nobles and peasants alike.

Unfortunately, this was also a major point in their mission to blend into aristocratic society.

Had Samael known that being a noble was this difficult, he would have done everything in his power to escape.

The only thing he did was keep moving. He barely has time to breathe. Dominic was by no means soft either.

Hearing rapid footsteps approach his room, a sigh escaped Samael's lips as he rose up.

They were here.

On cue, a dozen men came in as they dragged in the suitcases containing Samael's clothes.

Laying it down, they allowed Samael to examine it.

"Go ahead," Samael said with a defeated sigh.

Dominic was also present as he watched excitedly in the corner. After all, this was his pick. He made sure every single thing was perfect. From the colours to the ornaments!

Upon receiving his permission, the butlers swiftly went to work as they rushed Samael, swiftly stripping him of his clothes.

"You're quite built," Dominic praised as he saw the sharp definitions of the boys muscles.

"You do know I hunt monsters, right?" Samael said.

"It was supposed to be a compliment," Dominic fired back.

As the butlers got Samael in his clothes, Ajax soon came into the room just as Samael had finished changing.

"Is it done?" Samael asked.

Dominic and the rest remained speechless, prompting Samael to stare at the large mirror in the corner of his room. And what he saw made him doubt his eyes.

Everything from the black suit to the purple tie and ornaments hanging on his body exuded the aura of a noble. The clothes appeared as though they were fitted for Samael alone.

Right now, there was not a sign of the boy who killed monsters for a living—only an aristocrat born into a high family.

He almost couldn't recognise himself from how much he changed. Was this the power of proper clothing?

"Wow, Samael, I didn't know you could look so... proper," Dominic praised.

"It suits you," Ajax said, which further made the situation bizarre.

Ajax was wearing a black and blue suit, paired with a porcelain mask embedded with jewelry. Much like Samael, Ajax's clothes also had their own charm and authority.

"Let's go down." Samael changed the subject as he ripped his gaze from the mirror.

As they arrived at the main entrance of the manor, Icarius couldn't help but widen his eyes as he watched the two descend.

"It seems the preparations went well," he praised as he whistled.

"My hopes for this mission have suddenly risen," Icarius added.

"Enough with the flatteries," Ajax said.

"Learn to take some compliments, big man," Icarius said.

Right on time, another carriage stopped by the manor as a high-pitched squeal echoed off its compartment.

"And she's here," Samael said.

"Samael! Wow! You look so fabulous!" Lady Trix praised as she hurriedly went over, scaring her maids as they tried their best to avoid dirtying her gown.

"You look good too," Samael blandly said.

Lady Trix slapped Samael's arm as she replied. "You can at least try to make it seem genuine."

"I don't squeal," Samael fired back.

"Are you sure you're not there to hook in some women?" Lady Trix teased.

"If I could avoid this ball, I would," Samael replied.

"Hey! Don't kill the fun!" She said as she took deep breaths.

Samael can hear her heart race in her chest, which is evidence of her nervousness. An emotion he did not feel.

However, Samael was somewhat bothered by something. It's as though he can predict that something is going to happen, but he doesn't know if he's just being paranoid.

But this is a ball of great importance, so everything should be fine. Right?

"Hey! Snap out of it and let's go," Icarius said as he went up the grand carriage.

Releasing a sigh, Samael reluctantly went in.

It was time to test what he had learned.

Lilith slowly ascended from the large bathtub as steam filled the bathing house, drowning her figure in its heat.

Water slowly dripped off her milky white skin as she took a towel and slowly wrapped herself in it, its surface hugging her petite curves.

"Are you done, miss?" The maids asked.

"Yes," Lilith answered, her melodic voice ringing in the empty bathhouse.

On cue, the maids swiftly went in and assisted her, drying her hair gently and making sure to leave no droplet alone.

Afterwards, they took Lilith to her room as they started to prepare her for the ball.

They applied all sorts of lotions to her skin, further improving its subtle glow, while some of them expertly combed her hair, styling it and adding ornaments to her white horns.

The other maids took on the task of applying a layer of make-up to her face. As per Lilith's request, they only applied a minor portion of it, as, just like her grandmother said, she doesn't need it. Succubi are extremely beautiful by nature, so it was a pointless waste of time.

Finished with her initial preparations, the maids slowly dragged in a large mobile hanger containing the dress she was to wear. It was a white, silky dress that was different from the rest.

Without further ado, the maids adorned the girl in the dress, eventually finishing her preparations for the ball.

Standing before the mirror, the maids and Aphemis, who had just arrived, couldn't help but admire Lilith's beauty.

Even Aphemis had to admit that her beauty was beyond that of a normal succubi. Even more than her.

Staring at her reflection, Lilith had to admit that the clothes truly made her shine.

The white silky dress hugged her body, showing her curves and emphasising her sexual appeal through the roof. But just enough to remain a proper dress.

The ornaments in her hair and horns made her appear like a delicate doll, coupled with her natural beauty, and there was no doubt she appeared divine.

"Oh, my beautiful granddaughter," Aphemis said as she tried to approach the kid, only to be stopped by the maids.

"You cannot, Madame; her clothes will get ruined," they uttered in unison.

Aphemis could only sulk in the corner as Lilith put her hands over her chest, feeling her heart thump louder by the minute.

Was she really excited? No. It was more as though she was looking forward to something.

But what could it be? It's not like there's anything that can gain her attention to this degree.

Shaking her head lightly, Lilith took deep breaths as she strode forward. "Let's go, grandmother," she said.

Seeing her granddaughter so strong, Aphemis smiled as she spoke. "Yes, let's go own the ball."

As they descended the stairs, Aphemis spoke with her shadows for a brief moment before they slithered away.

She was merely warning them to inform Icarius of the situation. After all, they made a deal.

"Grandmother?" Lilith asked as she quietly sat in her seat.

"Yes, yes. I'm coming," Aphemis said as she went in.

"Are you nervous?" she asked.

"I... I do not know," Lilith answered honestly.

"Just remember, you don't have to force anything," Aphemis reminded Lilith.

"Just be you," she advised.

"Yes, grandma," Lilith said as she shot a gaze outside the window of the carriage, her reflection greeting her.

Each moment the carriage approached its location, she could feel her heart become more violent. But she paid it no mind.

Slowly, the minutes passed by as the skies turned golden.

Eventually, they soon saw the large palace to be used for the event, and hundreds of carriages lined up for inspection.

Seeing the emblem on their carriage, the guards swiftly made a way for them to pass through. There were no checks either, as the symbol alone was enough.

Shifting her gaze around, Aphemis thought. So that old geezer isn't here yet? That's very much like him.

As the carriage passed through, Lilith soon saw the other Thaesir family carts parked around the corner. It seems they were quite early.

As the carriage came to a stop, the butlers and maids slowly made their way through the crowd gathering as they opened the door for Aphemis and Lilith.

As they did, the crowds fell in awe as Aphemis went out, shocked by her beauty, which they had never seen before.

However, they were astounded when Lilith slowly stepped out, the golden glow of the sun reflecting off her visage.

The crowd fell in silence as they couldn't take their eyes off the goddess before them. Whether it was girls or boys, they were struck by her beauty.

Lilith was like a fantasy brought to life. An angel sent from heaven. A goddess in human form.

She was simply breathtaking.

As Lilith walked on the red carpet, some nobles tried to get closer, but the guards of Aphemis kept them at bay.

Upon entering the door, the announcer spoke.

"Aphemis of the Grand House of Flamebright has arrived!" The announcer roared, his voice echoing through the walls of the palace and attracting everyone's attention.

Shifting their attention to the front door, the nobles all dropped their activities as they swarmed near the entrance.

"With her, Lilith Flamebright, the Maiden of Rose has also arrived! Make way!" The announcer followed, prompting the nobles to gawk at the incoming figures with curiousity and excitement.

The hottest topic of the sanctuary was right before them; how can they let it slide?

As they laid eyes on the demoness, everyone felt breathless at her beauty. Dozens of noblemen fell for her at that very moment, solidifying the rumours.

Murmurs and whispers filled the room. Meanwhile, the Thaesir heirs gathered couldn't help but stare at her. She was truly the most divine thing they'd seen.

To them, she was the perfect woman. She is powerful, has a bright future ahead of her, and has the beauty to bewitch anyone.

Not to mention, her allure was insanely strong. Some of the noble men found themselves approaching her, but to no avail, as the guards kept them at bay.

Walking through the crowd, Lilith was assaulted by aristocrats of all ranks, trying to form bonds.

"Greetings, beautiful Lilith Flamebright. My name is Arno—hey! Don't push!"

"Move aside! My name is Terr—what are you—?!"

Chaos was soon to ensue when the Thaesir heirs swept in, silencing the crowd.

"Lady Lilith," they all said in unison, causing a scene that will be remembered by everyone. Four Thaesir heirs are competing for a single person's heart. Just how scandalous was that?

Seeing each other's conflict, Eric Donovan took charge first.

"Lady Lilith, I hope you have read my letter, and I shall await your answers later," he said before stepping out. The competition had begun.

"Mine as well, milady," Lee said, followed by the other two.

However, Lilith simply gave a light smile—a fake one.

The four heirs couldn't help but smile sheepishly as they accompanied the demon to her seat.

However, as Lilith sat there, she could not help but feel something was off.

She was excited. Yes, she admits it. She felt as though something would finally change in her life today. But now that she's here, there was nothing that even so much as entertained her.

It was all the same. Just... work.

Slowly, the ball started to begin as all kinds of food and beverages were delivered by the staff.

Lilith did not even touch her food or drink. She simply sat there, listening to the music that fell dull to her ears, all while ignoring the ceaseless ramblings of the Thaesir heir around her.

Even so, she felt the emotion pestering her. Longing and yearning.

Just why? Why did she feel as such?

But before Lilith could even do anything, the music started to shift as the nobles started to gather to dance.

As it did, Eric swiftly rose up as he approached Lilith, standing before her as he spoke.

"Lady Lilith, I know you have read my letter and already know what I'm about to do," Eric said, luring the Nobles attention.

"Still, I wish to show my sincerity by repeating what I said in person," He resumed.

Lilith couldn't help but frown internally. It was coming. Was it alright to reject him in front of all these people?

"Ever since I've laid my eyes on you, I already knew you were the woman for me," Eric said, causing the Nobles to murmur and squeal at this display of affection.

However, Lilith remained emotionless.

"I know it may seem sudden, but what I feel is truly the truth, and I've never felt this way for anyone in my life," Eric said as he slowly extended his hand.

"If you will grant me the honour of showing you my feelings, it would be my greatest accomplishment, Lady Lilith," Eric uttered.

"Will you accept my marriage proposal?" Eric asked without fear, causing the entire palace to be filled with awe. Some even chanted for Lilith to accept the proposal, causing quite the uproar.

Looking at Eric's hand, Lilith's mind drifted. Was it really that bad of a proposal? Eric wasn't a bad man. He was someone with a lot of good backing in his name.

He was strong, honest, and sweet. Traits that any woman wishes to find in her man. Now, that was before her, presenting itself to her.

Thinking about the time she spent with Samael, Lilith couldn't help but feel a pang in her heart.

She has waited so long for him. Perhaps he does too. Or perhaps he doesn't.

Samael was human. His lifespan was nothing but a speck for her. What if he's already forgotten? What if he's already moved on?

What if she's merely hoping for a miracle that may never truly happen?

Should she just spare herself the pain of waiting again? I'm hoping that one day he comes back.

Lilith felt the sharp ache in her heart strengthen as she slowly extended her hand.

As she slowly inched closer, Lilith's nose twitched as she smelled something.

A scent.

One she was familiar with.

One she has engraved in her mind and heart.

Then it came.

"Master Icarius of the Watchers Guild has arrived!"

"With him are two other guests of high regard! Namely, Ajax... Azureborn!" The announcer roared, causing the nobles to gasp in surprise.

An Azureborn. They thought that clan had already perished! To think someone from that family is here...

However, the announcement was not done yet.

Bolting up, Eric flinched as he saw Lilith's expression. But his hopes were dashed as he saw her eyes focus somewhere else.

Staring at the entrance, Lilith could feel her heart race violently in her chest as she stressed to see beyond the crowd of nobles.

An emotion she had nearly let go off now blooming again.

Hope.

"Along with them is another figure. Known for his bravery in the front lines and great contributions to freeing the Georgo road, we welcome..." The announcer said.

While waiting in anctipation, Lilith could smell the same scent she had longed for. The very thing that made her who she was today.

Slowly, the world seemed to slow down to a halt. All the sounds around her felt muffled, and nothing seemed to matter.

As Samael set foot inside the palace, his eyes flew open as he shot a look beyond the crowd of aristocrats.

This...

Slowly, he felt his heart gallop in his chest as he made his way through, ignoring all the gazes of the nobles.

That scent. That same familiar sweet scent.

That smell of flowers in the morning that soothes his soul.

He knows it all too well.

But it can't be, right?

Pushing through the crowd, Samael felt the world stop as he shifted his gaze at... her.

As the two stared at each other, everything else seemed to dissolve.

As the announcer continued his speech, Lilith spoke in unison with him as she uttered one word.

One word is enough to make everything feel okay.

One word changed her world once again.

One word meant everything to her.

"Samael."

Lilith felt her breathing stop as tears threatened to fall from her eyes.

As their gazes met amidst the chaos of the nobles surrounding them, nothing seemed to matter as Samael spoke, his hand slowly reaching towards her.

"Lilith."

Without another word, Lilith fell into tears as she springed forward, leaving herself in his embrace.

Samael stepped back as Lilith fell into his arms, fitting right in as though it were made for her.

As she did, she grabbed Samael tightly as she buried her face in his chest, allowing all the years of longing to be washed up by his warmth. Her sobs echoing.

Unable to stop himself, Samael slowly held Lilith's head as he enveloped her in his tight embrace, allowing himself to, for once, let his emotions set loose.

It was in his arms now. Happiness he never thought was possible. How can he deserve this?

In their silence, Samael could feel the extreme emotions in Lilith's tears. All the pain, sadness, and longing she endured for years. It was suffocating.

As a succubi, Lilith could also feel the burning desire Samael had kept hidden in his heart. The pain and frustration he kept in chains.

But now, there was no need to hold themselves back. There was no need to keep themselves tame.

After all, they were there, in each other's arms. Sharing each others warmth. Oh how they missed it.

But there was no need to rush. As they embraced each other, they felt their heart sync knowing that they don't intend to let go again.

Never again.
