Prologue
“Choose wisely.”
The voice boomed through the air, causing the surroundings to shake. In the center of a room, the only thing that existed, stood a girl. In front of her laid a table.
The young girl’s eyebrows were furrowed in contemplation as she looked down.
“Six elements, six patterns, thirty-six rings, and only one choice,” the girl mused.

As the girl made her choice, multi-colored panels of light floated around her. In the panels were moving images of people fighting. Beams of light blasted from their fingertips, others fought with sword and shield. Regardless of how they fought, they shared one common denominator. They all wore rings on their fingers.
The girl’s fingers lightly brushed one of the rings on the table.
“A fire-elemental ring branded with the pattern of strength. Definitely the most offensive option, but I won’t be choosing it.” Her hands touched yet another ring.
“A darkness ring with a willpower pattern. No, not this one either,” the girl smiled. She thought back to information she had obtained earlier.
After a few hours of contemplation she finally grabbed a ring and slipped it onto her right hand. As soon as the ring settled at the base of her finger, the room flashed and swirled. The voice echoed forth once more.
“You have chosen. The ceremony is complete.”
Then, with a flash, the girl disappeared.
