“Hahaha!! Boy!! You ……*cough… you did it….haha! you defeated me.” The man or something that face’s belonged to a man talked to the boy floating towards him.

The whole sky was blazed in fire, the raging fire was like a living fire dragon devouring the sun and making the whole field a zone of death.

“How dare you laugh, you bastard!! You killed them all even your own men.” The young man was slowly floated toward the beast like looking man, though most of the man’s body was stuck in debris, but he was still alive and breathing unlike the floating boy he was in much dangerous state, but he was still holding onto life.

The current state of boy was also not right, his lower 2 legs were missing while one of his hands mangled into a monstrosity with blades like stems growing from his hands. His visage looked weak, but standing in front of the fallen man he was undaunted like a mountain. To reach this stage a lot of people have sacrificed their life. The unstoppable king was near his death, and he needed to see to it that the man in front of him dies.

Still crying at the loss of the death of his friends, a piece of blade like metal which used to be a part of a plane floated up, while he used his working hand to lift the man from all the debris of metal and blood,

“Ouch!..ouw!! watch out boy.. you may kill me instantly.” Laughed the old man, his face now retaining his human visage, he never thought his life would end like this in the hands of a boy who still had stains of milk on his face.

“Shut up!!... I won’t let you die so easily.” The boy was lost in madness, he wasn’t feeling anything. The pain of losing his limbs was much lower than all the pain he felt due to this senseless carnage. His family died long ago due to the man in front of him, now all the friends he had also died following his parents.

As the old man’s body was lifted up, the young man was able to notice that only 30% of the man’s body was attached to his body, he neither had any hands nor any organ down his scaly chest. The man in front of his was already dead, he didn’t needed to do anything, and how the man was able to talk was incompressible to him.

But it didn’t matter to him if the man was able to feel anything or not. The blade floated in the air  and breaking the sound barrier it thrust toward the old man’s head.

As the metal beam approached him, time seemed to slow down, the blood flowing from his mouth had long dried up in all this fire, maybe his life will also be dried up now.

He remembered his old days when he was still a child, when the world still made sense to him, when he was still an innocent boy like the one in front of him.

During the early hours of the day when it was still dark, a man stood in his basement, while his hands were taking apart ballistic pistol engraved with symbols and diagram uncompressible. His eyes shook with uneasiness every time a part of the gun came apart, he would look all around the room in search of something or someone, but he will not find no one in it like usual. Why he did it, even he didn’t know. But he cleaned the gun in a hurried manner like his life depended on it.

The middle-age man have neatly cut beard with a common face, the room he was in was filled to brim with medal of honor and trophies, on the highest pedestal was a black and grey militaristic uniform casted away in glass and board, A whole book case contained the pictures of the man wearing the same uniform receiving prized as well as meeting the important people of the army. This room contained all the previous glory the middle-age man has achieved in the battlefield or during his life. But during this early in the morning, he didn’t seemed like a guy who fought in the war, instead his hands were shaking assembling the gun. And due to this his frustration was starting to be seen on his face.

“Papa!! Dinner ready!! Come down.” A voice came from the closed door, it sounded like his daughter was calling out to him which made him flinch so much that he aimed the unassembled gun toward the door.

“Papa??... come up fast, or it will go cool……hey Ditre! Don’t eat Papa’s fill too.”

’My daughter?....yeah!! yeah!! Who else she will be??... I am at home, I shouldn’t be doing this thing.’ Taking a deep breath and calming himself down, he replied to come as soon as he will finish his work.

“Mama!! I tol………” As he felt the sound dying down and knowing that his daughter was not here anymore, he opened the drawer and placed all his tools while throwing the pieces of the gun in a suitcase without a concern and locking it away.

“I am at home… I don’t have to do this stuff anymore.”

Dinera brushed her teeth as she watched early morning cartoons, unlike her brother who was also watching cartoons but instead was eating food without brushing teeth. They had a loose household even though their mother was a army nurse and their father was a retired soldier. Generally family like these had strict rules like the ones in the military, but their father was cool and he allowed them to act like they pleased while establishing some barriers.

“Ditre!! Don’t eat while you haven’t brushed your teeth. They may rot you know that?”

The boy looked at his mother, but ignored her as he gouged down the food on his plate. His body was a bit fat considering he was 13 years old, unlike his twin sister who was slim. He also had a bad habit of not listening properly which also affects his studies, each year he would fail at some subjects, if not for the summer classes, he would have already been behind his twin sister one or more classes.

Looking at her pig of a brother, she felt helpless. Whenever something happens in class with him as the protagonist, she would be called out to become the medium where the teachers and the classmates will say their grievance to.

The teachers hated his guts, as he was a bit too lazy and uncondemning, as for redeeming qualities he had none besides being the brother of the topper of the class.

Even after their father entered the room, the rest of the family didn’t acted any different , they just continued their activities, Dinera also started eating the lunch as soon as she brushed her teeth, but the odd thing was that her brother was still eating along with her and the rest of the family.

“So Dinera today is the first day of your new school right?.. are you ready to make new friends?” Her mother asked Dinera an obvious question to which she knew answer to, the reason she asked was to see her daughter’s reaction.

“Nah! I liked my old friends, Why do I have to go there.. I am ready to wear this collar forever.”

Both the parents laughed a little, her father didn’t looked anything like he did when in the garage as right now he acted like a normal father. This was how he conducted in front of his family normally.

Now her father turned towards Ditre and asked the same question.

“It doesn’t matter.” Stuffing the last piece of cutlet in his mouth he spoke like a bloke.” I can play *Burp.. with them online.”

Their father’s eyes went dark, this son of his has disappointed him a lot, he was just lucky to have a daughter as good as Dinera.

“Sis! I will tell you from beginning, in the school you are not my sister alright!” Ditre have learned from his previous school, he was forced to go through hell due to his sister also, due to teachers having the same expectation and him ruining his sister’s reputation.

Hearing her brother say this first, Dinera was baffled at first, but then she thought it would be for the best, as they are already are in different class, no one will able to connect 2 totally different people, as though they both are twins, but due to their different habits their bodies evolved differently, with her brother being a short and fat boy and she being a tall and slim girl. The differences of their faces expanded as they grew up, and being a different gender also helped in this case, no one will presume both of them to belong to the same family.

“Alright! I will go in first, you come in campus later. We shouldn’t enter together.” Suggested Dinera, the darther she is to her brother in this new environment, the better and smoother her life will be in the class.

Ditre nodded, and stopped walking while he watched his sister enter the school.

‘Hah! I can be free from expectation in the school at least’ He was elated inside, but he didn’t let his emotions show on his face. His personality being wicked and odd was result of it.

The Grand Acalia Institute, the institution had a “grand” in its name which the school didn’t shy away from, being outside the capital city and covering 1/10 area when compared to the capital city. To get enrolled in this academy, a person has to fullfil 3 conditions.

1.An individual has to an esper with ability ranking of E or above.

2.The person should have someone in their family who serviced the country in any way or have a yearly salary of a 10 million or more.

3.The last being to be someone belonging to an influential family or being suggested by someone having a lot of power in the military.

And there is another method of gaining a scholarship through the exams conducted, only 10 students can enroll through this exam and didn’t make up a big part of the class, the scholarship was done to find any promising individual that went by their radar.

‘Great institution my ass!’ As was planned, Ditre entered the academy gates after his sister, only to be welcome with a sight of adolescent boys playing or talking between themselves, the thing that made his mood worse was the giant sculpture of the God of Madness and bad luck “Shani” standing firm while looking toward the Sun.

Why would an institution have something like this to welcome their guest and new students. This question was asked by everyone, but after they found no one held the answer, they got silent and moved away from the statue.

His bags and other belonging were already waiting for him in his hostel room, he just need to go there and use his key that came with the letter of admittance.

‘Where is she?’ Being a sibling, he instinctively tried searching for his sister, but didn’t find her in the open field. Knowing his searching was going in vain, he stopped and moved towards the stage where the entrance ceremony will be conducted. Each year 480 seats are being emptied by the previous year’s students, and the new ones admitted. The ones who were failed were shifted to another part of the campus they didn’t studied with the first years.

The entrance ceremony will begin at 10am, and as the time approach the students that were spread all over the field started to sit together with the group they created.

“Hey! Today our restrictions will be released right? Will it happen after the ceremony?”

“Who knows? Maybe it will maybe it won’t.”

In the far off corner a group of boys discussed with each other. They were all excited about having their restrictions removed, as from the time they held consciousness a collar was strapped on their neck, they didn’t know how it felt to live without something like this. Their psychic functions of brain was also halted by this very same collar, the only way to remove it to exceed the age of 21 or enroll in institution like this one.

In a different corner a bunch of girls were also talking something that didn’t concerned their abilities of the school at all.

“Hah! that haughty little bitch thinks herself as a royalty, wait till the restrictions are removed.”

Hearing this much Ditre already understood what these girls were talking about, he wasn’t the only one that hated being grouped with his sister or talking with her, though she annoyed him , but she annoyed her some female classmates for some entirely different reasons.

‘Hah! There she is laughing loudly…………. And surrounded with lots of girls like usual.’ His sister was a tomboy.

The area was crowding in a fast pace, and as Ditre was sitting in the middle, he stood up and started walking in the back. And after finding a seat in a corner which would go unnoticed by most, he went there and sat down while he took out a box of chewy candies and started popping them in his mouth.

All the seats were filled just 5mins before the ceremony begin and as a man started walking on the stage with some teachers and some students in uniform, the whole student body went silent. The leading man was bald and looked aged, his eyes were droopy as well his clothing. The 6 teachers who followed him all looked young and novices. They didn’t had the confidence and indifference of that old man, as for the students or this batch’s seniors looked at the new students as they were prey that they will have a lot of fun with.

“TESTING!! TESTING>>” One of the student which looked to be 17year old, checked the mike directly in front of the crowd while giving a haughty look. Beside the students, the entire group of the welcoming committee looked sloppy. Their expressions told the intelligent ones in the student body that they were not interested in this activity in the least, and they just came here to do a strenuous work.

“Welcome students I am the vice principal of the minor division of the Great Acalia Institute, I will be the one taking care of you for this current year and guide you through all your entrance phase.”

The ceremony began and all the students braced themselves for long unending speech, the twins were also having the same though. And as the student body thought the series of long speech began, the man told of history of their institute and how this same institute played a huge role in the 10years war that ended 5 years ago, the achievements in the technology that was the result of the academy’s unending research, how they have been the top university for all those years.

The students in the welcoming committee, looked bored and same can be said about the new blood for whom this speech was made for, but the vice principal was in a full flow, talking about the achievements to this academy full him with pride.

“I will die!! I will die!! I will die.”

“Shut up…shut up shut up!!”

The students didn’t know how long the speech went on for, but as the speech came to an end, the vice principal spoke.

“Now students, as for your restrictions.” The old man reverting back to his indifferent mode took out his mobile and clicked on it.

Same sound started coming from each and everywhere in the seating area, this was the moment when the eyes of the 6 teacher’s that have started to shine and their aides that had a predator like look while looking towards the students die down.

The leather collar that looked like a thin ring came apart and fell on the ground, the student body was left speechless, whatever happened, it happened a bit too fast and came as a surprise to them, they have thought that the process of removing the collar will be grand and it will be their own glory as they use their abilities for the first time, but out of their expectations the vice principal just touched his mobile and all the collars came apart.

The students were excited knowing full well what this meant, they can use their powers now.

As some students were starting to use their powers, a pressure overwhelm them, sending their mind in turmoil.

“Now now!! There will be enough time for that, but know this you can’t use your powers as much as you want, you can’t use it to harm others, because even if you are sneaky enough, you can’t escape the psychic essence detector.” After saying this much, the man started walking off the stage but as if remembering something he came back and.

“If you want to try your power now, you can go to one of those 6 teachers.” The vice principal pointed at the six young novices as he continued.” They all have the database on you, they will be able to provide you with enough space.”

Without wasting any more time, the vice principal disappeared from the view of the student body while a commotion started, and before anyone knew one of the student already ran toward a female teacher who was the beauty among the teachers.

“Teacher, Amires Tondun entrance no 0157798, I need to test my power.”

‘Oh! Fuck… the real nightmare begins.’ Sarcastically spoke Ditre as he chew on a mouthful of candy.
