"Hahahahahaha my dream, it's come true!" I've finally done it now. After several years of hard work and perseverance, the 1st VRMMORPG in the world has been made. The beta stages tired us all to exhaustion, but due to our burning desire to get this game out in 3 months we persevered. Now, I'll be able to release this game on January 1st, 2030. I'll bet it'll be a date to remember.
"We've done it now Mark, with this the world will now enter a new era of gaming!"
"Yes, we've done it Tom. Our dream has finally come upon our grasps. Tell all the staff that wish to work overtime to help me announce the release of Virtual Realm in a week's time."
"Sure Mark, but you should've just said to get the whole staff to work overtime rather than say the 'only' ones that wished to work overtime. You know as well as I do that the whole staff has persevered with you through all these times due to our passion for this day. Now you can go take a rest Mark, the staff and I will handle the matter of releasing the game. It was due to you working for 20 hours a day that we were able to create the most advanced and realistic npc the world has ever seen!"
*sigh*
"Alright if you insist, I'll tidy things up and head home."
"Then I'll be on my way to tell everyone of the good news. Drive safely Mark."
"Haha I will."
As Tom gently closed the white office door, my eyes seem to wander towards the neurogear that would allow the world to enter in the magical world of Virtual Realm. As I seem to doze off and enter a daze-like state, I instinctively took hold of the round neurogear and put it on my head. As I took strapped the neurogear to my head, it automatically adjust to fit onto my head. I then sat down on my comfortable leather chair and pressed the power button that would start the neurogear.
"Welcome Game Moderator Mark. Would you like to enter in Virtual Realm as GM Mark or to your secondary account as player Kioxe?"
As I hear the voice of Sarah who's the npc that I made that would invite all the players to Virtual Realm, I replied Kioxe please...I'd like to go on Kioxe.
"Ok GM Mark, please hold on a moment as you're about to enter the magical continent of Oeus." Suddenly my vision went completely dark. But in a few seconds white particles spread out everywhere and the shape of a human was what was formed by the white particles.
"Aaaaaah" How refreshing it was to come into a game and look up to see the beautiful blue sky. Words can't describe the feeling that's inside of me. Since I'm a game moderator and made the game, I can't recall a time where I wasn't bored of looking up to the sky. The breeze that's traveling south and the birds that's flying along with the direction of the wind made it so realistic. There are so many times where I asked myself if I was the one responsible for making this game. As I got a hold of myself, I turned right and walk towards to Sinister Woods.
The Sinister Woods was an area that was East to the Holy Capital of Vera. It was an area filled with earth type magical beasts. The woods was an area of about 136 miles from North to South and only 24 miles from West to East. I stared straight to the East and in a moment teleported about 12 miles to reach the middle of the woods.
Due to being a game moderator, I'm able to have two accounts. My GM account and my player account. Since players would definitely recognize my player account Kioxe as GM Mark, I changed the appearance of Kioxe to an average looking Caucasian guy. Usually the system would register your real life appearance, but I used my GM powers to make Kioxe an average looking guy who's 5'10 with blue eyes and black hair that stuck up. I’ve got to say I felt like that one old anime character I used to watch as a kid called Goku with the hairstyle I had going on. If I dyed my hair blond, I'd surely look like a super saiyan. Appearance was not the only thing that I tampered with on Kioxe. I also gave Kioxe the ability to teleport and a special one of a kind hidden class. Otherwise, Kioxe was just like any other game character.
As I stared at the biggest tree in Sinister Woods which was about 300 feet tall, I placed my right hand on the tree and was immediately at once teleported again and was at a large underground building beneath the tree. It was a secret hideout that the staff and I made so that we could work inside the game and immediately respond to the beta testers whenever a problem appeared in the system. We would then look at the problem in the game and then come back to our base and address the problem. Of course the staff and I were weary that a player could somehow come upon the tree and find our secret base. So that's why we added a program where only the game developers could enter. Since everyone's fingerprint were different from one another, there wasn't too much to worry about after we implemented that scanner on the tree trunk. Though without it, I doubt there were even any that could travel this far in Sinister Woods alive within a 2 week time frame that we conducted our beta testing.
Since the game was about to be released, I decided to make some last minute additions to the game. I headed towards the control panels located along the 20' by 20' wall. I then sat down on a chair staring at the monitor. After a few hours, I was satisfied and left the underground building.
You have to admit it's pretty cool to be making a game and then suddenly you’re making the game within the game (paradox). I then teleported back to the Holy Capital City of Vera so that I could be there to greet the players and give them a nice long speech during New Years. The date that Virtual Realm would be officially launched.
I then decided to log out of the game with a huge grin upon my face.

One week later, I'm levitating high upon the sky as big streams of clouds pass by a few feet below my feet. As I opened my eyes wide in excitement and counted along the timer, it was eerie silent.
10...9...8...7...6...5...4...3...2...1...

As New York's Time Square Ball was dropped, not only millions of people were celebrating January 1st of 2030, but also the official launch of Virtual Realm.
At that moment, millions of white particles as far as the eye could see start to appear across the Kingdom of Ferox to the North, Varinia to the East, Zeron to the South, Nula to the West and the Holy Kingdom of Hearth located in the middle of Oeus. In simple terms, the continent of Oeus was illuminated by the millions of glimmering speckles of white light.
As I watched the expressions of people's faces with startled expressions and appreciation towards the reality aspect of the game, I couldn't express how joyous I was at that moment. I literally felt like bursting into human goo from the happiness that engulfed me.
Thousands of people pre-ordered the neurogear during the beta-phase, but after the beta phase, millions of people went online or to nearby gaming stores to buy the neurogear.
The streams that was shown by the beta testers completely mesmerized the world.
People everywhere were trying to get their hands on the neurogear that would let them play the very first VRMMORPG ever made. Due to the unexpectedly high number of orders the company was receiving, we ran out of neurogears and had to work up a deal with several manufacturing company to make neurogears in the millions.
As over 300 million people bought the neurogear in total across the globe, the staff and I were completely ready to greet the millions of people that would arrive to try and get a head start on the game. We had the server backed up and made sure it could handle the millions of people that would be online.
It'd be a shame if the server of a game crashed on the very first day. The players would then surely cast doubts and run back to the counters to return their neurogear.
Not only is that bad for the game developers (me), but also the stores across the globe. I'd probably have to give my grievances to all the employees that would have to work overtime right after Christmas. Like everyone knows, people run back to the stores to return their gifts right after Christmas. When the gift they bought isn't ‘satisfying’ for their kid(s) they return to the store to get their money back.
*sigh*
Let's just say those were bad memories. My advice...never work at an appliance store, much less a toy store right after Christmas.
Ten minutes later, it was the designated time to make my announcement and so I flew down lower for all the players in the Holy Capital of Vera to see. As for the rest of the continent, a screen appeared across everyone's face and what appeared before them was an Asian male who wasn't too bad looking with ruffled hair and a nice stature.
The young man around the age of 25 stood with a straight back and dignified manner as he was levitating on top of the sky. Though what really made him more stunning was the white paladin armor that gleamed as the sun shined upon him.
"Who is he?" a boy around the age of 15 says.
"I think I've seen him somewhere before," says another.
"You idiots it's the game developer who made this game,’ shouts another.
"Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, my name is Mark."
The crowd of people who were recently bickering and chirping like birds just moments ago grew silent.
"I am the game developer who made this game."
*swoosh*
The sounds of a light breeze could be heard due to the silence caused by one individual levitating on top of the clouds.
"I hope you all have a wonderful time on the magical continent of Oeus. Explore the wondrous unusual landscape, engage in exhilarating battles and make new friends and foes."
In the blink of an eye the figure disappeared into thin air. After a short moment, people were either cheering, clapping, or laughing at how short of a speech it was. Much less, if it could even be called one. The players then all scattered about as they started to do their starting quest around the city.

"Don't joke around with me Tom. I almost died when I saw how much people stared at me from below."
"Yes and because of that you gave a 20 second speech hahahahahaha."
"Shut up, you know that I'm not that good at talking to people, much less talking in front of millions. That's also the reason why it's always you that talk and give orders to the staff, not me."
"Hahahahahahahaha oh man..... Hahahahahahaha!"
"Well, since I'm now in a bad mood because of you rubbing it in my face, I'll be going on Kioxe now."
"Alright Mark, take care. I'll be on my way to the others and ask them what they think of that speech you gave. Hahahahahaha."
"Urghhhhh...I hope you stumble and fall down the stairs."
"Okay Mark, I'll be going on the elevator for just today then."
As Tom left and shut the white office door...the sound of laughter could still be heard.
"Urghhhhh...one of these days it'll be me that gets the last laugh."
I quickly grabbed the neurogear and placed it on top of my head and turned on the power button.
