[SYSTEM COMMAND]
[Choose a weapon].
What?
[Choose a weapon].
I stared at the screen in front of me. Choose a weapon? What does that mean?
[Choose a weapon].
My heart started racing as my hands began to shake. Where even am I? A pure white room. No, not even a room. I can’t see any walls or ceilings. Everything is completely white. Hell, I can’t even tell how big this room is or if there is even 5 feet ahead of me. Everything is just… white.
[Choose a weapon].
Staring at the black notification before me, I took a step back, still trembling with confusion. As I did, a large whooshing sound came from behind me, and a table zoomed into my view, stopping only a few feet past me.
The table was gigantic. Endless. Reaching to the edges of this room… if there are edges. It went far past my view, which was still being inhibited from the empty white space that I was in.
[Choose a weapon].
[Time remaining: 0 Day : 0 Hours : 04 Minutes : 59 Seconds].
What? Im being timed?
I glanced back towards the large table a noticed the plethora of weapons upon it. Swords, spears, daggers. All shiny and sharp, dazzled with jewelry or patterns that looked liked they would be used by a King or a Knight.
Also on the table were armours of varying intensity. Some full plate, while others just leather. Jewelry was abundant, along with long sticks that one could call a staff of a Great Wizard. There were bow’s, but no arrows. Shields as well.
[Choose a weapon].
[Time remaining: 0 Day : 0 Hours : 03 Minutes : 12 Seconds].
Fuck.
I raced down one side of the table. What the hell is happening! If I need to pick a weapon, there is only one thing I want. I glanced back at the time notification hovering before me as I continued putting one foot ahead of the other, terrified of a big hole in the ground that I would be unable to see, as the “whiteness” of my surroundings really messed with my perception.
[Choose a weapon].
[Time remaining: 0 Day : 0 Hours : 02 Minutes : 33 Seconds].
I stopped running and shouted “What is happening! Why do I need to choose a weapon? Where am I? Is this a joke? Please tell me!”
No response. Just silence in the white room.

I looked back at the table, terrified of what happens after the timer runs out. I have been searching for a gun, the only reasonable choice, but have been unsuccessful in finding one. All the weapons here look like their from medieval times. I don’t even see a crossbow.
I kept running. Praying I would find something better than a sword or spear that would help me… do something when the timer ran out.
That’s when I stopped and picked up my first weapon. A short sword with a green snake pattern engraved into it’s hilt. As I held it in my hands, another notification appeared.

Okay. This is getting out of hand.
I can see what the weapons… do? Weapons have abilities? Lunge attack? What the fuck!
Again I looked at the time notification.
[Time remaining: 0 Day : 0 Hours : 01 Minutes : 49 Seconds].
Ha! Take my fucking time choosing a weapon, a weapon that I don’t know what is for, with only 5 minutes on the clock and endless options! This has to be a sick joke!
I dropped the dagger and continued frantically searching. Touching all the weapons on the table to see their notifications.

41 seconds remaining.
This should be an easy decision! Just pick one. I have no information, so it does not matter what I choose, right?
I know it doesn’t matter, but for some reason… there is a thought at the back of my mind that the weapons that I have passed so far are still not the right choice. It’s irrational, and unrealistic, but each weapon I pick up feels less and less like an option for me. That’s when I see it.
It’s just another sword. Sitting there, the hilt hidden under a silver chest piece. It’s no more unique than anything else I have seen.
I move the chest piece off of it to get a better look. The sword is a little bigger than a short sword, or at least what I would consider a short sword, seeing as I have no idea how big a short sword really is. It has a deep red hilt, that almost looks like blood. The hilt is T-shaped, giving it that classic sword look. When I pick it up, I start to read the notification.
[Item Name: XXXXXXXX]
[Item Type: Sword]
[Class- Prefect]
[Ability: Blaze] The sword ignites, causing swirling flames to spin around the blade, inflicting heavy burn damage on enemies that are struck.
[Do you accept this weapon as your PREFECT? Once this decision is made, you may not alter it].
That’s odd.
Not only is this the only weapon that felt like a good choice, the notification is missing the line of text that tells me to think before choosing.
Are the notifications guiding me to this weapon? Is that why I fell a pull towards this sword?
Fuck it.
I don’t even glance back at the timer.
I don’t need to read the terms and conditions.
I don’t know what’s happening, why I’m here, or why the fuck I need to pick a weapon, but my mind is already made up.
The timer is at 14 seconds.
“I accept this weapon.”
