Aenios: “It looks like…”
I was looking at their dead bodies. I blew up the teachers neck and I gouged out the kid’s eyes.
Aenios: “It looks like I went a bit overboard…”
Now this is a big problem. Not that I killed them, in fact, if I told my dad that I killed these two murders, I’d probably be rewarded.
No, the problem here is the state of their corpses. This is obviously overkill and overkill is usually a sign of insanity. Which I am, but I can’t let other people find out.
I picked up the professor’s head and held it against where his head would usually be.
Aenios: “Heal.”
A brilliant light emitted from my hands. I don’t need to chant the spell commands, but my magic was a bit exhausted right now and saying the chant, even a shortened form reduces mana usage significantly.
The light enveloped the area, skin and muscle started to regrow and soon, his neck was reformed. He looks like he never even died, but I know he’s dead. You can’t bring a soul back from the dead unless you use necromancy… I know that very well.
I walked over to the student. I still can’t remember his name.
Aenios: “You must be happy now that I’m giving you so much attention, right? Hehe.”
I placed my hand across his face.
Aenios: “Heal.”
That gentle light returned and his body was no longer looked like a magic storm.
His eyes though… they were still missing.
But that’s fine. The other corpses here also had eyes missing. I have an excuse when I get questioned about this.
Finally, to add some special touches.
I forced my sword out of the wall and cut only the professor’s body. Making to sure to add extra slashes and gashes, pumping back and forth to draw more blood.
When it was done I picked up the professor’s hand and slashed my arms. A strange pain coursed throughout my body.
He poisoned his nails? What kind of psycho does that?! It means I have to use more mana doesn’t it…
Aenios: “Purify.”
My blood was cleared of the malicious substance. That was surprising.
When I was finished, I took a step back and examined the room. Yup, looks just like I walked in and killed the professor. Now that I was done, it was time to return to the operation headquarters.
I grabbed my shoulder, where I slashed myself with the professor’s hand and held it tightly. I squinted my eyes and walked by the wall. My other hand dragging moon glade on the floor.
I wondered if I looked convincing. I hope I did.
I walked through the halls hoping to find somebody. Luckily, a Guard who was investigating the school found me and took me to the Head Constable for a personal interview.
I was lead into one of the classrooms which had been cleared out. Only one table remained in the center.
On the other side was the head constable, surprised when he saw me walking in with wounds all over.
He gestured towards the seat, trying to regain composure. I basically fell on the seat, putting all my weight into the chair. I looked around me. Sitting beside the Constable was a woman with large glasses holding a quill in her hand. Other than her, the only other people in the room were by the door. They stopped people from going in AND out.
Head Constable: “Eh… are you okay? We can do this later you know…”
Aenios: “I’m fine… this is more important than some simple wounds…”
He looked at me quite worried. Hmph, I guess everyone comes around when their boss’s son is injured. Especially when its under their jurisdiction, where he could be blamed for my injuries.

Head Constable: “Ahem, so uh. Let’s start at the beginning.”
Aenios: “You won’t be investigating the room?”
Head Constable: “We’ve already sent men there. Now, if you’d please.”
I told him an extremely fabricated version of the story. Summarized, basically, I found that place by accident and walked in, looking for my classroom. I found the dead bodies and after I did, the student and necrophiliac saw me and started to attack me. We fought for a bit before I killed the teacher. That was when the student showed his ultimate weapon but instead of killing me like it did to the other students, it backfired and killed him instead.
The Head Constable hung on my words, believing every lie that came out of my mouth. To him, I barely cast any magic. I know the real truth though… It also confirmed that those the bodies were the victims they were looking for.
It was when we were discussing the secret weapon before Amell Abna came bursting into the room.
The Head Constable quickly shot up and saluted. “Sir!”
He took one good look at me and stared at the Head Constable.
Amell: “You’re interviewing my son… in his condition? Do you have an actual death wish?”
Head Constable: “N-No sir I…”
Amell: “Don’t speak, you’ve no excuse for this. I’m-“
I cut him off.
Aenios: “It was I who suggested we continued with the investigation, I wanted to contribute as much as I could so we could speed it along.”
Amell nodded his head and looked back at the constable. “It seems it was my son’s decision. I guess I was in the wrong here, but even more so. You should have denied his request and postponed his testimony.”
Head Constable: “Sorry sir, I’ll make sure I do that next time.” He looked relieved that he wasn’t in trouble. It was also funny seeing him suck up to my dad.
Amell: “It’s time to go home now Aenios, your wounds are deep, I’ll call a doctor. In the mean time you should rest.”
I got up from the seat and walked out the door, Skye was waiting for me.
Aenios: “Hello Skye.”
Skye: “AENIOS!” She looked at my wounds. “What happened while I was gone?”
Not wanting to explain my lie twice I pretended to be out of it and requested to rest.
I slept on the carriage back and left for my room when I returned. I collapsed on my bed, now I really was tired. It was near nighttime when I decided to fall asleep.
---
I woke up, sweating profusely. Seems like… I had a bad dream.
Maid: “Young master, may I enter?”
I got up from my bed, I was still in yesterday’s clothes.
Aenios: “Give me a second.”
I opened the door, the maid was standing outside waiting patiently.
Maid: “Your Farther wishes to speak with you, something important he said. Go straight to his office after your morning preparations.”
Aenios: “What about school?”
Miad: “He said not to worry about that.”
I was a bit suspicious about the situation, but Amell would explain it to me once I went to his office.
I quickly finished my morning routine and headed to his study, or his office. Whatever, it doesn’t matter. Skye stood outside smiling. Hmm. Strange.
I remember looking at this door when I was young. I had a bad feeling back then, but I can’t remember the reason.
Skye stood outside smiling
I entered.
Amell: “Aenios! I have exciting news!”
He patted on the couch he was sitting on. I sat beside him.
Aenios: “What is it?”
Amell: “Well… the first thing is that you don’t have to go to the magic institute anymore!”
I was surprised. If it weren’t for my father, there wouldn’t be anything stopping me from quitting the school, now all of a sudden, he’s okay with me leaving??
Amell: “The second thing was that you were invited to a different school!”
Ah.
Aenios: “Forget it. Going to school is already boring enough, if I have to go to another school, it’s going to take longer to get back home.”
Amell: “You won’t be coming back home!”
…What?
Amell: “Aenios. You’ve been accepted to the Royal Magic Combat and Battle Academy, or RMCBA.”
Aenios: “Never heard of it and I don’t want to, goodbye.”
Amell: *Sigh* “Aenios. If you don’t go, I’m cutting your allowance.”
Now that… would be a problem.
Aenios: “That is completely unfair.”
Amell: “You’re being unfair by not giving this place a chance. I know you think you’re special, but there are people over there who are even smarter, even stronger than you. It’s nothing like this school. Trust me. Only the strongest in the kingdom are allowed to attend, and even getting accepted provides various benefits!”
I heard what he said, and honestly, it did sound interesting. Finding people stronger than me. The only person I’ve never beaten was my own father.
Amell: “Look Aenios, just give it a go for at least a year. You’ve got one-hundred more in your belt, why don’t you give it a go?”
I thought about it.
Aenios: “It sounds… intriguing but there’s one big problem.”
Amell: “What’s that?”
Aenios: “I’m going to get lost. I assume the ROYAL academy would be where the ROYALS are right? If it’s the capital, it’ll be impossible for me to not get lost.”
Amell smiled and nodded his head.
Amell: “Of course! That’s why Skye is going with you!”
Aenios: “She’s what?”
Amell: “A bodyguard can’t protect her target without being there with him! At least, I don’t think they can.”
I sighed loudly.
Amell: “You might not even get into the school in the first place, don’t feel so down!”
What.
Aenios: “I thought you said I was invited.”
Amell: “Invited to participate in their entrance exam. They do them every month because they randomly invite students.”
This was dizzying but this was a challenge I couldn’t back down from. Plus… if what dad said was true, then there are multiple reasons for me to go. One big thing was that I would be in the capital, which was always good.
Aenios: “Alright, I’ll go. When do we leave?”
Amell: “It’ll be a great experience I swe- wait. Did you say you’d go?”
I nodded my head.
Amell: “I expected you to put up more resistance. Well the sooner the better, you might be late otherwise. Hurry up and get in the carriage waiting outside. The exam is in three days!”
Aenios: “WHAT?! WHY ARE THEY ACCEPTING ME ONLY NOW??”
Amell: “Apparently they heard your achievement in defeating those two murders and they decided to try and bring you to their school as quickly as possible.”
I shook my head and briskly walked out of the room.
Skye: “Read to go?”
Aenios: “Yes…”
I started walking down the hall.
Skye: “It’s the other way Aenios.”
I turned around and walked the other way. Skye behind me.
This may be a good investment…
