Rose Joy was feeling quite conflicted after the revelations that transpired in just one night. That one of their own had terrifyingly powerful Pokemon, which could grow to titanic sizes on demand. The baffling results of the blood test said that her Crystal was an ancestor of that powerful Audino by 10 generations. The man's claims to be from some 300 years into the future were a bit hard to digest but would explain a lot.

Just from the light testing after healing them she witnessed firsthand their sheer power. None of them were in the same league as any other Pokemon that came under her hands. Their muscles were packed with power, bodies brimming with energy, and eyes shone with intelligence. The only ones that could even compare were those under a champion, and even then, she didn’t think that would be enough.

From the information she was privy to thanks to their dear champion, he claimed to be just an Ace trainer. Yes, he briefly held the title of Unovan champion, but apparently, another trainer defeated him quite swiftly afterward. It was his brother Aidan who held the title the longest between the two before going even higher.

“Grandmother.” A voice interrupted her train of thought.

“Sarah, dear.” She answered in an even tone. “I was waiting for you.”

The young woman bowed as she entered her office. The wooden floor was polished like a mirror, reflecting the nervous girl followed by her Audino. Several paintings of members of the Joy clan hung on the walls, all of them with their companion Pokemon. Rose’s desk was more utilitarian, forgoing any special flair apart from an Audino carved on the top.

“Take a seat.” She waved her hand to one chair while directing her full attention to her. “So…tell me more about Mr. Daniel.”

After some time, Daniel took a moment to breathe and calm down. The team took turns to peel off him, starting with Casper, who just feigned indifference to the whole affair. Her tremors and the way her scales pulsated with colors betrayed her, however. Her children were much more emotional, Jack and Wally wept while holding Daniel’s hair.

Gamera and Rodan were next, trying their best to peel off the oversized Volcarona from Daniel’s body. Lily and Elizabeth soon joined when the task seemed impossible. After a minor scuffle and even more tears from the big moth, the team was once more in front of him.

An involuntary chuckle escaped his lips. His tears had already dried up, and all that was left was emptiness. Or so he thought. Feeling the warm aura of his Pokemon mingle with his. Their eagerness, fears, happiness, love…

“I don’t know what I would have done without all of you.” He whispered. “You are family too, after all.”

All of them cried in acknowledgment, snuggling a bit closer. Even separated from his family by time and space, Aidan’s death, and the strange place he found himself. He was not alone in this. Part of his family came with him, after all.

“Get up everyone. We need to take inventory.”

The team nodded and began exploring their new home, some going upstairs while others went to the backyard. His two helper Pokemon made their presence known again, startling the young dragons still attached to him.

“Donald don’t let anyone spy on us. R2, I need to check our supplies.”

Donald quacked a “gon!” And disappeared inside the internet router. R2 went inside his glasses and displayed another translucent screen in front of him.

“That’s not a lot…” He muttered while biting his thumb. “And I need to plant those emitters too…”

Before he could bring a 'piece of the future' in his new present, he needed to have conversations with Iris and the current Joy clan head. He doubted there would be any problems with his printer spitting up some gadgets, like solar panels, holoprojectors, or even automata. But the emitters could have consequences for the environment. He still remembered the disasters caused by Terastal and Dynamax emitters early in their lifespan.

History class briefly went over some of the worst ones, like the stampede of Titanic Tauros in 31 A.U. Or the great fire of Mesagoza in 41 A.U. His father would also complement the lessons with stories from the past. Especially in the ‘age of heroes.’

He fondly remembered those times he and Aidan would hear about evil teams. The grand battles between Legendaries that seemed commonplace. How children always seemed to be enough to stop these massive threats…

A sudden jolt startled him. He looked down to see Lily and Mothra hugging him. The pair managed to sneak up on him without realizing it. He wiped a small tear away and hugged them back.

“Thanks…” he whispered to them and straightened again. “R2, Printer.”

A red and white cube rolled from his bracer to his open palm. He lightly tossed it over a space in the living room and a green ray shot from it. The 3D printer was a meter and a half-tall cube. It was made of a special resin that imitated glass when hardened, so everything was see-through. Sadly, since it wasn’t big enough to print full components, he would need to assemble everything by hand.

“R2, Donald, let’s make the house smart.”

[UNDERSTOOD]

Both answered, flashing in front of him before shooting towards the printer. The edges lit up in orange before Rotom’s trademark smirk was plastered in front of the printer. A couple of seconds later, he could see a new lock taking shape inside the glass. He left them at it before exploring his home, Lily and Mothra in tow. Flying inside would be too hard on her, so the Volcarona had to walk at the end of their entourage.

There were three spacious rooms, one on the first floor and 2 on the second. All of them were furnished with pastel-colored furniture, a window with equally colorful curtains, and a smaller TV. An empty room that could work as a workshop. Two bathrooms, one of them big enough to house a Snorlax. And finally, an empty attic. It was surprisingly clean for an empty house. A cleaning automaton could take care of the place in no time, even If he had his Pokemon always outside.

“Voooool.”

The moth shifted her weight from one side to the other while looking at the attic, tapping her claws on the ground.

“Want to live up there?”

“Volca!” She nodded enthusiastically.

“Leave enough space for Casper, alright?”

Mothra quickly disappeared into the attic and started to throw her silk around to form a pseudo-cocoon. It was a habit that never really left her when she evolved. She always seemed content with closed spaces, especially the ones she made. With a small shrug, he went back to explore.

His last stop was the kitchen. It was barebones to his standards, but that was to be expected. The fridge had meat, berries, cheese, and some moo-moo milk. The pantry had several loaves of bread and some crackers. Lily took a bottle of milk and held it up for him. He opened it for her, and she happily drank straight from it.

Everything seemed fresh and ready to be cooked, but… “It’s off…” The fruits and berries appeared smaller, the meat was not as vibrant, and the milk didn’t have the same consistency. He doubted it was done maliciously, “different farming techniques, perhaps.”

Cooking for his team was second nature after so many years. Chopping up berries, mixing the right number of proteins, sprinkling spices to everyone’s palate… and adding extra sugar to compensate. He was happy to return to semi-normal activity. Lily helped him as much as she could, cleaning dishes and bringing everything to the table. Even if she snacked here and there when she thought Daniel was distracted.

With everything ready, Daniel poked his head in the backyard. It was big enough for his team to laze around, but not large enough to train to their standards.

Elizabeth moved with the grace of a dancer, uprooting any undergrowth with ease before burning it up. Rodan was roosting in the lone tree near the fence, eyes lit with psychic energy. Gamera was adapting the small pond with Braviary’s help, making it large enough for him to take naps inside while fully submerged. Casper was nowhere to be found, but Jack and Wally’s floating toward an empty space in the sky betrayed her position.

“Time to eat, everyone!” All the Pokemon suddenly stopped and looked at him with a certain ferocity. Even Casper appeared out of thin air near her children. “Clean yourselves before entering! There's no automa… never mind.”

His team rushed past him, bringing dirt, mud, and water inside. Their bowls formed a small semi-circle in front of the table since it was not made for them. Something he would eventually rectify. Mothra, R2, and Donald were already at it, so the rest joined. All of them devoured their meals, almost choking on certain cases. Considering all the time they were fighting, being interrogated, and healing in most cases, he didn’t blame them.

Growl.

He agreed with them.

“There’s enough food. Eat slower!”

With a smile, he took his seat and began devouring his food. It wasn’t the best, considering the ingredients and lack of cooking automata, but it was enough for now.
