Chapter 11: Divine Sky Academy Entrance Tournament P2

Chapter 11: Divine Sky Academy Entrance Tournament P2

It was the second day of the entrance tournament and Ye Meng was waiting at Old Man Bai’s booth with Li Xiaoyu. The tournament was about to start in a couple of minutes and they were waiting for which group they would be assigned to. 10th place was where the rewards slowly started exponentially becoming better and better so everyone was hoping to reach top 10.  The people who were going to be in the top 10 were basically confirmed except for Ye Meng and Li Xiaoyu. Li Xiaoyu and Ye Meng both did very well during the second stage but no one really knew of their strength so people put them off as wildcards. Wildcards with a huge chance of entering the top 10 though.

As they were waiting for the tournament to start, Ye Meng was reminding Li Xiaoyu on what to do and what not to do. “Suppress the strength of your attacks but make sure you reach the top 10. Reveal the Azure Frost Sword once you start having difficulties with your opponents and with that you should be able to take 2nd place.”

She attentively listened and made sure to take note of what he said. A couple of minutes later, the tournament officially began and a middle aged Divine Sense stage expert walked onto a large stage which shocked Ye Meng. “If their announcer is just Divine Sense stage, then how strong are their judges?” The middle aged man raised his voice and said in a professional tone, “Welcome! Today is the 2nd day of the Divine Sky Academy entrance tournament! By the end of the day, only 80 of the 150 contestants will be remaining! The contestants are divided into 10 groups with 15 people in each group. Each group will battle it out and the 7 with the lowest amount of victories will be expelled from the tournament! The groups and matchups are visible on your jade tickets. Let the tournament begin!”

The audience all clapped and felt their blood boiling with excitement. Watching a battle between old fogies wasn’t as entertaining or exciting as watching a battle between geniuses because geniuses are young and unpredictable! The sound of hundreds of thousands of strong cultivators clapping made a sound equivalent to thunder! Meanwhile, Ye Meng was looking at his jade slip to see if there were any notable geniuses in his group which was group 7. He saw a particular genius in his group that made him chuckle. Li Xiaoyu had one of the geniuses that Ye Meng mentally marked, Luo Wei, in her group which was group 10. Most of the 150 contestants were at the peak Divine Sea stage and only a couple dozen were at the mid Divine Sea.

The first battle was up and it was between two uninteresting youths that Ye Meng didn’t care about. Sometime between the second battle, Ye Meng saw Old Man Bai, his granddaughter and Hua Tong’er coming back to their booth. When Hua Tong’er neared Ye Meng, he asked her, “Did you bet the 30,000 low grade spirit stones and how were the rates for us to get first place?

She nodded and said, “The rates for Li Xiaoyu winning was 1:9 while the rates for you winning was 1:13. I put all 30,000 on you winning the tournament.”

Ye Meng smiled and cheerfully thought about how much money he was going to rake in. Although he didn’t care much for money right now, he knew that the main currency in the Immortal Realm was midgrade spirit stones which was a level above low grade spirit stones.  100 low grade spirit stones was equivalent to 1 mid grade spirit stone. 300 mid grade spirit stones was just enough to stay at a mid class inn for a couple of weeks but 3,900 mid grade spirit stones was enough to buy a villa in a fairly backwater area. Ye Meng and Old Man Bai chatted while they were waiting for his turn. An hour later, the announcer called out, “Ye Meng and Xiao Mei in arena 5!”

He snickered when he saw Xiao Mei (means little girl in Chinese, I think) because of how opposite her name was from her body. Xiao Mei was a giant dark skinned girl with a height over 10 feet tall and weighing at least 700 jins. She had scars all over body and her dark rough hands carried a giant hammer weighing at least 10,000 jins. Ye Meng walked to arena 5 trying to think of a plan to easily beat her.

Ye Meng knew that he couldn’t fight against her head on because her cultivation level was higher than his and she was using a large hammer. He pulled out a Tier 6 sword that he’d gotten from killing the Golden Elixir Dongxue Clan members and held it in one hand without a stance,

“Junior Brother Ye although you have comprehended sword intent, my hammer and superior strength is the perfect counter to it! Don’t be offended if I win!” said Xiao Mei with her deep voice.

Ye Meng amiably smiled and said, “Sister Xiao Mei, don’t worry about me. Just worry about yourself in this match.” She grunted and the announcer yelled out, “Match BEGIN!”

Xiao Mei dashed towards Ye Meng while holding her large black hammer with both hands. She jumped up into the air and used gravity to increase the weight of her attacks. She flew towards Ye Meng with the hammer ready to crush him at any time. The hammer started accumulating a malicious aura and the hammer grew larger and larger to the point where it was like a small mountain. The top head of the hammer suddenly became engulfed in a fiery Qi and cause the audience to ooah and aah.

“Hehe! It looks like War Giant Mei is using one of her strongest moves from the beginning!”

“I wonder how Brother Ye will defend against her attack?”

Said the watching aristocrats and young masters. When the hammer was amount to reach him, Ye Meng thrusted out with the speed of lightning and hit a small point on the hammer. Kacha! The whole attack was disjointed and the size of the hammer grew smaller till it hit the original size. The Qi exploded and Xiao Mei was forced back with only slight injuries. She rushed towards Ye Meng multiple times with numerous attacks but Ye Meng did the same for all of them. He also managed to get some large gashes into her already scarred skin. The crowd felt like they were watching a monster in perception when they saw Ye Meng find the weakness of her attacks numerous times.

“Sword intent and can easily find the weakness to all of her attacks! How can someone be so talented in perception!”

“Don’t forget that he’s primarily an alchemist! His main job isn’t cultivating but rather alchemy! So he spent less time than all these so called geniuses but he’s on the same level as them.”

Ye Meng felt that fighting against her was easier than fighting against the dummy because she had weaknesses in her moves. He was also using a simple leaf against the dummy just to test out his strength. He could exploit the weaknesses and make sure that all of her attacks failed. The same cycle kept repeating with Ye Meng disjointed all of her attacks. After digging up that milky sphere, Ye Meng’s perception grew to terrifying heights so how could he not be able to find the weaknesses in the attacks of a mere Divine Sea cultivator? After a hundred moves, Xiao Mei was heavily panting and she had soot all over her body. She had numerous gashes on her body as well, so she decided to take the loss. She knew that she could at least get into the top 20 so she wasn’t worried at all.

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

“Junior Brother Ye, it seems like your perception is indeed terrifying. I admit defeat!” said Xiao Mei. The audience applauded and the announcer shouted out,  “YE MENG WINS!”

They both headed back to their respective booths and Ye Meng looked at the direction of the Crown Prince’s booth. Sure enough, the Crown Prince was watching him with his hawk eyes so Ye Meng could start the plan to make the Crown Prince infuriated. Although the distance between them was hundreds of meters wide, the Crown Prince could clearly see Ye Meng because of the superior eyesight that all cultivators have. The higher your cultivation, the better your eyesight. True Soul experts were supposed to be able to see tens of thousands of meters!

Ye Meng beckoned Hua Tong’er to come over and he gave a slight wink towards Li Xiaoyu. He had already gave Li Xiaoyu the details of the plan and she agreed, with some hidden reluctance in her heart of course. He held Hua Tong’er slim waist and started kissing her fragrant mouth.

Ouyang Guodi was the name of the Crown Prince of the Royal Shangxuan Kingdom. From birth he’d always been known as a peerless genius and been given the best treatment. If he wanted this one girl, his father would give it to him but make her a maid. This time, he was charmed by this exquisite and seductive girl known as Hua Tong’er. He seemed to like everything about her and he asked his father if he could make this girl a concubine. But, his father slapped him angrily and brought up how they were all noble blood but she was a commoner. It was quite common for the classes to be divided. If a commoner tried to marry a noble, they had to be the best out of the best. But, her cultivation talents were just above average and not fit for Ouyang Guodi.

He would become a mighty Soul Cleansing expert while she would at most reach the early Golden Elixir stage. He would have the lifespan of tens of thousands of years while she’d die in a mere thousand years! Class and talent is how marriages are decided on, but someone who’s a commoner with above average talent being the concubine of a Soul Cleansing expert was just impossible. He couldn’t make her his maid because the Hua Family interfering and making her the concubine of Dongxue Tian. In order to protect her purity, he’d bought 2 Quasi Divine Sense assassins for 3,000 low grade spirit stones. Just when he was about to assassinate Donguxe Tian, news came out that he got crippled by the Old Monster Bai. He was feeling excited when suddenly, she willingly became a concubine to another man and that man was protected by that old monster along with a Tier 7 Alchemist master! He became enraged and his mood instantly turned dark. He tried assassinating him but it didn’t work! He was angry back then, but the anger he was feeling right now couldn’t be compared to the anger in the past.

His beloved kissing another man! No man could just sit there and watch, unless they wore a green hat (means that they’re a cuckold). Ouyang Guodi clenched his fists and trembled with anger as he saw he sight unfolding. Li Xiaoyu was feeling a bit jealous and angry but she didn’t know it, “Hmph! It looks like they’ve done this before multiple times! Ye Meng! You big bastard! Playing with multiple girls! You’ll see how I deal with you!” muttered the angry Li Xiaoyu.

Time passed and both Ye Meng and Li Xiaoyu had been called up multiple times. Most of his matches ended in a just a dozen or so moves because his enemies used up all their trump cards on him and they didn’t do anything. Ye Meng did various different styles for various different weapons. For heavy weapons, he used the same strategy as he did with Xiao Mei but for light weapons like swords and sabers, he used his superior swordplay to win. As someone who has comprehended sword intent, how could his swordplay not easily dominate others? Li Xiaoyu used her superior strength and her superior techniques to defeat most of the opponents. This time, it was Ye Meng’s turn and surprisingly it was that big burly guy from the line. He had actually made it into the actual tournament!

“Ye Meng and Zhang Yaodai in arena 6!”

Ye Meng walked to the stage and instead of drawing his sword, he draw a stick. When Zhang Yaodai saw the twig he became enraged, “Ye Meng! Although I might not be comparable to Xiao Mei and the others don’t think you can just use a stick against me! You might end up crippled and I’ll have some fun with your maid!” said Zhang Yaodai in an extremely vile voice. Zhang Yaodai burned the memories of the time he got humiliated by Ye Meng into his mind. He had swore to pay back the humiliation ten fold and now was the perfect time.

Ye Meng snorted with disdain and innocently said, “I thought you’d like a stick? Don’t dogs like to play fetch with sticks?”

“Hahaha! Young master Ye is too ruthless!”

“What kind of enmity do they have?”

“I think that Zhang Yaodai was attracted to Ye Meng’s maid and made a lecherous comment about her.”

“Ah, no wonder!”

“YE MENG, DON’T BLAME ME FOR BEING RUTHLESS!” shouted out the enraged Zhang Yaodai as he draw a giant club and lunged towards Ye Meng. Ye Meng just walked towards him without a care in the world and when the club came towards him, he just ducked. He was playing safe by only making light scratches and making sure people didn’t get that injured in his previous matches to avoid enmities with other people but now he didn’t care. Ye Meng thrusted into Zhang Yaodai’s belly and made a large hole. Blood started seeping out of the hole and Zhang Yaodai attacked Ye Meng numerous times but they were all dodged or disjointed. Cuts and slashes in non-lethal are just to weaken your opponent, if you truly want to severely injure or kill you need to thrust or pierce with a sword! Numerous holes appeared on Zhang Yaodai’s body in just a dozen moves! When Zhang Yaodai was about to say something, Ye Meng chopped off his clothes and revealed his lower part to everyone. Just like last time, people started laughing and made degrading comments on Zhang Yaodai.

The match ended with Ye Meng’s win and he quickly returned to his booth. Ye Meng felt as if there was a problem with him, he would instantly become angry whenever someone says or does malicious things towards Li Xiaoyu. As Ye Meng was returning to his booth, numerous eyes were carefully watching him.

“Ye Meng is tough competition… I guess I need to reveal that hidden card.”

“Ye Meng’s perception sure is terrifying, I might have to show that my Immortal Fiend Body has reached the 6th stage.”

“This Ye Meng sure is interesting. Imagine if he solely focused on cultivation, he would be able to sweep away all of the other contestants. Since he didn’t do that, I should be able to beat him with the Heaven Piercing Sword Formation.”

Ye Meng won all of his matches and it was time for Li Xiaoyu vs Luo Wei. Luo Wei was a handsome youth with his most prominent features being his black eyes that seemed to be the color of the night sky filled with stars. Li Xiaoyu took out the Azure Frost Sword and the crowd went wild.

“Oh my! That looks like a Tier 7 Artifact! It’s impossible for it to be anything else due to the aura surrounding it!”

Artifacts could be identified by the color just like pills. The colors were the same for each tier so when they saw the color on the sword the audience went wild. A couple of Divine Sense experts along with others saw the sword and their eyes widened. It was that Azure Frost Sword in the auction! How rich was Ye Meng to buy a Tier 7 Artifact for this maid! Some of the rather new Divine Sense experts don’t even have Tier 7 artifacts but a mere Divine Sea stage does! How could they not feel incredibly envious and greedy? Luo Wei’s eyes widened with shock because even though he was the top genius in his family, he had gotten an artifact known was a Quasi Divine Artifact especially made for Quasi Divine Sense experts. He felt greed but quickly suppressed that inside his heart.

Greed was a bad thing that could lead to your death if not restrained. The battle started and Li Xiaoyu made the whole arena feel like it was freezing. Her swordplay was like a falling snowflake and her attacks were powerful as a blizzard. Luo Wei was actually a bow user! His arrows became like meteors and stars with the help of Qi and the duo battled furiously. In a hundred moves, Li Xiaoyu was slightly panting but Luo Wei was completely exhausted. “Sister Li, your cultivation and techniques are just too profound. I admit defeat.”

With that match, Li Xiaoyu had finished up all of her matches and they were watching the other contestants. Soon enough, the day was over and 70 youths were unable to enter the academy of their dreams!
