Chapter 1: Levi's New Mission

A police officer was speaking to a woman, one who looked distraught and terrified, she was speaking quickly and stumbling over her words, panicking.

“Ma’am please calm down, now what did you say about a kidnapping?” The officer attempted to calm the woman down.

“M-My son, h-he was taken, they shot my husband, please help!” The woman grabbed the officer and started dragging him to an alley where a black haired man laid on the ground.

The man had long claws where his fingers would usually be, they were snapped and broken, blood pooled around the man’s body as he lay there lifeless.

The officer quickly ran over, speaking into his radio as he looked around the alley and sighed sadly “poor Variant” he said sadly, the woman’s cries in the background reaching a fever pitch as she realised her husband was dead.

-2148 18th November 01:03am-

“Come on guys, it’s close to Christmas!” A young boy around the age of 17 shouted out, a playful and arrogant tone on his lips.

The boy was tied to a chair with chains, the rusty chains had been digging into his wrists and he was getting impatient.

“Come on guys! I need to get my sis a present or she’ll kick me in the nuts! Help a guy ou-“ he was cut off by a loud bang on the mirror he was grinning at. A two-way mirror.

The boy was tied to a metal chair with metal chains in an empty room, the walls were cracked and broken, the floor had holes in the concrete, the entire room was a mess, nothing in it besides the boy, his chains and the chair he sat on.

“Guys!!! I’m getting bored!” The boy moaned out in an annoying high pitched voice.

A door that was behind him was shoved open “that was harsh” the boy said as he looked at the man who had walked in through the mirror.

The man growled as he stalked over, moving in front of the boy as he glared at him “heya!” The boy grinned up at the man.

“I told you to stay quiet” the man said in a menacing tone, his red eyes and scruffy beard made him all the more intimidating but the boy seemed unfazed, his grin ever present.

“And I told you I was b-“ he was cut off as a strong fist connected with his face, blood spurted from his mouth as he head was flung to the side, his body being knocked over to the side, the chair following him down to the floor.

The boy frowned as he saw his tooth bounce on the ground in front of him before he licked the spot where it used to be in his mouth, blood filling his mouth “for fucks sake man, that was my favourite tooth!” The boy grumbled, his grin gone for a second before it returned in full force although his teeth were bloody this time.

The man growled as he pulled the boy back up to his previous sitting position “you going to shut up?” The man growled out.

The boy shrugged “maybe who knows? Cause I sure as shit don-“ he was cut off again as the man thrust a punch into his stomach, more blood being expelled from his mouth.

The man was abnormally strong “you a fucking Variant? Got some super steroid shit?” The boy paused to spit a glob of blood to the floor “or you a Arcanist, fucking with some reinforcement? Fuck that one still hurts” the boy groaned in pain, hunched over slightly.

“You don’t need to know what I am only that I know you’re a Variant, we know you stole from us” the man got up in the boys face growling at him “you know if you keep growling I may start thinking you’re a furry” the boy mocked the man.

The man reared his fist back but was stopped as the intercom buzzed “we need him alive, the boss will fry you alive if you kill him” a new voice spoke through the intercom.

“Listen to your boyfriend, doggy” the boy spoke, his tone mocking and arrogant.

The man quickly left slamming the door closed behind him “still harsh, what did that door do to you?” the boy mumbled to himself more than loud enough for them to hear.

The boy looked into the mirror opening his mouth as he looked at where his tooth used to be.

The boy had long brown hair and dark blue eyes, he had a sharp face with defined features, a horrid looking scar went from the top of his forehead through his left eye and down his cheek. His eye was fine but it was clear that he almost lost his eye from whatever caused the scar.

“You guys got some water? My mouth is quite literally flooding with blood”.

A few minutes later the door opened again, three people entering, the red eyed, bald, brown bearded man. A second man with short blond hair and green eyes.

The third was a woman dressed in a long red dress, long black hair that went down to her full backside. The woman had piercing green eyes, a dangerous glint to them. Her figure was slim, built for speed.

A feral smirk crossed the boy's face for a fraction of a second before it returned to his cheeky grin “ohhhh, I have to say boys… I would much rather talk to her than you two” the boy spoke with a laugh.

The two men stayed at the door as the woman walked in front of the boy and kneeled down in front of him “I like where this is going” the boy said with an excited look on his face.

The woman gave him an unsettling smile as she brought a hand up, a knife quickly materialised in her hand, the blade being placed against the boy’s stomach, the boy didn’t flinch only frowned “sorry miss but I ain’t into that kinky shit” he smiled sweetly like he was trying to turn someone down softly.

“You have caused me a lot of trouble sweet Levi” the woman spoke with a sweet sounding voice that sent shivers down the backs of the three men in the room.

The now named boy looked offended “me?” he scoffed “I would never cause problems for such a beautiful woman nevermind how crazy you might be” he nodded resolutely.

“Then would you like to explain why my merchandise keeps getting stolen, this has your signs all over it” the woman glared at Levi as she looked at the two men at the door “Jason” the blonde haired man stood at attention.

“Go and secure the hallway, and Bradley” the red eyed bald man stood at attention to “guard the door from the outside” they both nodded and ran out to fulfil their duties, closing the door behind them.

“I am sure you know who I am Levi” Levi narrows his eyes, pondering for a moment before he shakes his head “nope not a clue”.

“I am Viper” a hand gripped tightly onto Levi’s shoulder “and I can give you a lot” Viper lowered her face to be right in front of Levi’s “if you give me what I want”.

Levi grinned “Viper huh? Sorry, never heard of you”.

Viper moved forward, straddling Levi as she sat in his lap as she brought her lips closer to his “are you sure?” she asked with a seductive tone.

Levi’s grin dropped immediately and a feral smirk took over his face, Viper attempted to jump away but she was too late, one of Levi’s hands came around her back, stopping her from moving as his other stabbed two small injections into her side.

He smirked as her body went limp, he picked her up and put her in the chair he was just tied to, she was unable to move, paralysed by whatever he injected, Viper found she was unable to call on her power as well.

The door was quickly thrown open, the first one, Bradley stormed in but was immediately caught off guard by Viper’s limp body and didn’t see it when a knife sliced his throat, he dropped to his knees trying to stop the blood gushing out of his neck.

Jason came running in, seeing Levi with a bloody knife, a dying Bradley and a limp Viper.

Levi’s stance lowered but Jason seemed to do the smart thing as he turned and ran.

Levi was taken aback, he fully expected the guy to be dumb and rush him. The boy glared at the gurgling form of Bradley “who’s being annoying now?” Levi’s foot struck out and knocked the man unconscious so he could die quietly.

Levi walked over to Viper seeing her glaring at him, her form still unmoving before he chuckled “So Vipes, I gotta take you somewhere, I would have loved to smack you around a bit first but unfortunately whoever wants you, wants you relatively intact” Levi shrugged.

He moved Viper to the floor on her front and started tying her legs together and then her arms together, securely behind her back, before he hefted her still limp body onto his shoulder before he left.

He moved out of the warehouse he was in, moving around the back and down the street, through a few alleyways then stopped in a car park, a black van parked there, he closed his fist, calling on his power and then opened it, some car keys now in it.

He unlocked the van and moved forward, tossing Viper’s unmoving and limp body into the back of the van before he got into the driver's seat and set off.

He started driving away from the car park, he took out a phone from the glovebox and connected it to his van via Bluetooth, putting on some music at high volume, his window open, his arm resting on the side as he tapped his hand to the beat.

He moved onto a highway and drove down it, the music on his favourite playlist sounded out, now complaining shouts were coming from the back of the van as Levi turned up his music in response.

As the beat dropped on the song, Levi bobbed his head along with the beat, singing the song as he drove down a relatively empty highway.

A few hours passed, along the way Levi stopped at a petrol station and fueled up, getting some food too, using some money that was stored in the van.

He then continued on his journey for a few more hours coming to a city, his destination.

He drove through the city abiding traffic laws as he came to his stop, an abandoned looking warehouse, he moved his van around back before parking up.

He then moved to the back of the van, opening it to find Viper faking being asleep “you’re not that smart Vipes, it’s quite obvious you’re awake”.

Viper sat up quickly as she glared at the opening of the van, finding no one there before she felt something prick into her neck, she glanced back seeing Levi as he stuck a needle into her neck, a grin on his face before she passed out.

Levi quickly picked up the unconscious Viper, slinging her body over his shoulder as he left the van, locking it behind himself as he moved into the back entrance.

He placed his car keys into his hand and then closed it, he re opened his hand to find a different set of keys. He moved forward and used the keys to unlock the door and then he moved in.

He walked into the warehouse proper, entering a large empty space, only one person there, he moved forward before dropping Viper’s body on the ground “special delivery from Lucifer!” He spoke with a grin as the man turned around, a white mask with a red star on the cheek covering the man’s face.

The man nodded as he moved, inspecting Viper’s body, not caring about her privacy as he inspected every part, checking for any injuries or problems.

“See, Luci told you I’d get it done!” He smirked, pride filling him as he looked down at the white masked man.

The man stood up and nodded, picking up Vipers body before he spoke in a monotone voice “good, Lucifer will get his payment, we appreciate your help young Levi and we may make use of your talents again sometime soon” the man gave Levi a nod as he left the warehouse.

Levi waited the required 10 minutes before he left, getting in his van as he drove off, moving to a new location, he parked his van in an underground garage before moving up the building and entering his apartment.

He moved over to his living room after locking the door and flopped down on his sofa, laying down with a sigh, his phone chimed so he took it from his pocket and looked at it, a message was on the phone.

Luci: Well done Levi, your ride will be coming tomorrow morning at the usual time, be there, I have another mission for you.

Levi sent back a thumbs up before he walked to his kitchen after getting up and started making some food, some simple breaded chicken steaks, with some vegetables.

He then ate as he watched tv before he jumped into the shower, washing his body thoroughly before he put on his pyjamas and got into bed. It was only around 7pm but he had a tiring day so he fell asleep quickly after setting his alarm.

He woke up to the sound of his alarm, he shut it off as he stretched his arms out with a yawn. Levi moved to his kitchen, had some cereal then got dressed in his work clothes.

He wore a black shirt with some Kevlar plates built into it, he had on a black jacket that he zipped up, a black balaclava around his neck and he wore black trainers and black trousers.

He preferred to go unseen and usually worked at night so his choice of clothes was practical not because he was edgy.

He then left his apartment and walked down the street and then down an alleyway as he waited.

He stood still for a bit before a van pulled up to him, four men completely covered in clothes jumped out.

They moved over their faces covered as Levi grinned at them “hey boys! Hey Jerry, how's the kids?” He smirked as a bag was placed over his head and then he was pushed into the van.

He was sitting in the back of the van, a bag over his head as the van drove off, going to his usual meeting place with Luci.

“The kids are fine Levi” a gruff voice came from in front of Levi as he nodded “good shit Jerry!” he gave the man in front a thumbs or at least he thought he did, he couldn’t see off course.

“So Levi, I heard you may be going away soon. Everyone’s saying the boss has a big mission for you” the driver in the front of the van spoke as he drove.

Levi nodded as he hummed ‘what could Luci want, I usually had a few weeks between jobs and so this one coming up so soon means it's important’ Levi thought to himself before he shrugged and decided he’d find out soon.

He engaged the others in idle chatter as they drove, he always found the drive boring, Jerry and the others helped but he was a boy who loved danger and the adrenaline rush that came with it so a long drive usually stresses him out.

It didn’t take long for them to arrive at their destination, they always took a different route so he wouldn't memorise the route he already had but it was just a formality at this point, Luci was weird like that.

He was guided out of the van and into a building, he was quickly brought to a massive room, the bag on his head was pulled off as he looked behind himself, waving at the retreating goons that left through two large doors that slowly closed behind them.

He then turned back around as he glanced around the room.

The room was huge, a massive chair stood at the fair end, a throne more like. The room was decorated sparsely, Luci was a minimalist when it came to decoration, which resulted in the Throne and the man that sat on it being the most interesting things in the room.

Levi skipped forward, a grin on his face as he gave the man an extravagant bow, making sure he went as over the top as possible before he stood straight and gave the man a grin.

The man had short blond hair and two bright red eyes as he looked down at Levi, his eyes seeming to look right into his soul, he wore a simple black shirt with white trousers and black leather shoes.

Lucifer was Levi’s boss and was a Variant, at this point everyone knew one aspect of Luci’s power, he was a variant with something he called, The Devil’s Eyes. The ability everyone knew about was the power to detect lies, it made him very good at his job but Levi never had a reason to lie, he was brash like that.

“So Luci, why am I here exactly? It must be important for you to tell me to come here so soon” Levi said as he looked up at the man.

Lucifer got up and slowly walked down the steps that lead to his throne, he moved down and stood in front of Levi, lifting his hand up and placing it on his shoulder as he let out a sigh.

A voice came from Lucifer, one dripping with confidence, it sounded tired and frustrated “I know I can trust you Levi” he sighed as he paused “you have helped me build an empire here, helped make me one of the most prominent individuals in the world” Levi nodded, listening intently.

Lucifer moved over to the wall as he pressed his hand to a certain part of it, it shrunk into the wall with a click as the wall opened up revealing a bunch of screens and a computer that controlled them.

Lucifer moved over and started pressing buttons, bringing up an image as he turned to Levi and gestured to it “Avion Academy, the most prestigious Superhero Academy in the world and part of your mission” Lucifer said.

Levi glared at the image and then looked at Lucifer with an excited grin “who am I killing? The principal? Hard but doable… Oh! Am I stealing something? Please say i’m stealing something” Lucifer had an uncomfortable smile on his face.

He thought of Levi like a son, he raised him like his own and treated him like it, Levi was his most trusted employee. Levi was talented, very talented, his Variant power and skill made him suitable for any kind of mission but Lucifer knew he would hate this one.

“Kind of” Lucifer said to Levi’s last question “you’ll be stealing their.. Heart” he said hesitantly as he pressed another button, the image switching to one of a beautiful girl, one with long red hair, bright blue eyes that shined with intelligence.

Levi narrowed his eyes at the image before he shrugged “I don’t really like killing, it's messy but if you really need her heart.. Sure why not?” Levi said as he went to leave, his wrist quickly being grabbed as he was pulled back by Lucifer.

“No you have it wrong” Lucifer said, Levi giving him a confused look before realisation set in on his face as a horror stricken look crossed his features as he stared at Lucifer in betrayal.

“You must become a student at Avion Academy. You must seduce this woman and gain her trust, whether you seduce her or not doesn’t matter but you need to gain her trust” Lucifer said as he gestured to the girl.

“No!” Levi shouted as he dropped to his knees and pushed his head to the floor as he groaned like he was in pain “why! Why! Why do I have to go to school?!” Lucifer let out a chuckle as he patted Levi on the back.

“Sorry kid but Avion is the best way to get to her and you’re around the same age and I trust you, which is the most important part” Lucifer said as Levi slowly got up, still looking frustrated as he looked at the girl “who is she anyway” Levi asked.

Lucifer looked surprised “you don’t know?” he asked, surprise in his tone “should I?” Levi responded with.

Lucifer nodded “you should, she’s the Princess of the Royal Family of Avion, the rulers of the kingdom and the nest in line for the throne” understand crossed Levi’s face before realisation followed, Levi quickly turned and punched Lucifer in the gut.

Lucifer doubled over as he groaned “are you fucking insane!” Levi shouted “you want to kidnap the fucking Princess!” he then gestured aggressively at the image on the screen as he continued “you want the whole goddamn Kingdom on our arses?!” he asked/shouted as he glared at Lucifer.

Lucifer sighed “now you see why i’m tired, unfortunately we can’t refuse this mission, it comes from someone important and I can’t afford to refuse them, we’d be even more fucked then” Levi sighed in response as he rubbed his forehead.

“Okay… How long do we get?” Levi asked “the first year of Avion” Levi groaned at that, he had a year to get the Princess to trust him.

“Fuck… We have a year to get goddamn Princess Arinai Rykler to trust me of all people” Levi mumbled out as they started to speak of their plans.

“Are you okay Miss?” A man dressed in a butler’s suit stood at the doors of a lavishly decorated room, the room was large and opulent, a massive king sized bed sat at one wall, with expensive looking pillows and a quilt that seemed to shine with cleanliness.

The Butler was looking at a beautiful woman, she sat at a desk, a mirror attached to it, many small drawers on it that contained makeup of all kinds. She let out an unladylike sigh as she looked over at the man.

“I’m nervous about the upcoming year, I will be starting at Avion and there is a lot of pressure on me to perform, then there’s that meeting with my father coming up in a few hours” she vented to her butler, she knew he reported everything she said to her father and mother but she didn’t care, just talking calmed her down.

Klein her butler nodded “I can understand how you must feel Princess, I feel a bit of pressure in my life too, obviously not as much as you of course but I am glad you can talk with me about it” the Princess nodded as she turned back to her mirror.

She nodded as she sat straight up, her resolve strengthening as she thought ‘I’ll find friends and I'll find people I can trust.. Maybe even a boyfriend’ she grinned as a blush came to her face before she shook it off and started getting ready for her meeting.

A few hours later, Princess Arinai found herself moving towards her Father’s office, she paused at the door as she smoothed out her dress, she knocked on the door, pushing it open as she moved into the room, giving her dad a curtsy before she took a seat opposite him.

Her father nodded to her before he let out a tired sigh “I am sorry Arinai, I know you are excited about going to Avion but I need to tell you something, it is for your safety after all”.

The King sighed as he crossed his arms and leaned forward onto the desk “there is no easy way to say this daughter but someone will be going to Avion to kidnap you, we aren’t sure who it is but we know someone whether they be a student or teacher or any other member of staff is there to kidnap you”.

The Princess was shocked, she couldn’t move frozen in place, her dream of finding great friends was now made all the more harder because now she had to keep an eye out for a kidnapper, something crossed her mind as she gasped “wait, I can still go right?” she asked desperately.

The King nodded “as I don’t want you to, I will still allow you to go, you must send a message to us every night and tell us who you met and who you talked to whilst there, we’ll have plants there that will be ready for when the kidnapper strikes and the headteacher and teachers have all be notified of this occurrence.

The Hope is that if they are a Teacher, the kidnapper will get cold feet and won’t try anything, if they’re a student, they shouldn’t be as powerful as someone posing as a teacher may be”.

As her father finished speaking, she laid her hands in her lap, playing with her fingers nervously as she looked down at her lap “what do I do?” Arinai asked.

The King nodded “nothing, act as normal as you can, until we get more information on who approaches you, we can’t make any judgements, I’ll send you a message detailing everything you need to know” Arinai nodded as she robotically got out of her seat and slowly left the office.

She slowly moved down the hall heading to her room but stopped as she heard footsteps coming from a hall that went in a different direction than where she was going, it turned to the left.

She panicked as she ran to the wall, hiding behind a statue as she held her breath, fear and panic filling her as she watched, the footsteps getting closer as she waited.

Two women dressed in maid uniforms slowly passed through the hall, walking passed her hiding spot as she froze in place. As they passed she let out the breath she was holding and slowly slid down the wall, hugging her knees to her chest as she quietly cried into her arms.

It wasn’t long before she got up, shame filling her as she wiped her tears away before quickly moving back to her room.

It didn't take long for her to shower, she then quickly fell asleep as nightmares plagued her dreams.

It was the day Avion Academy would open for its students, Levi stood in front of the gates, he was lined up with the other students as they all slowly entered teleportation gates that would take them to an assembly room where they would be given the introduction to Avion Academy.

He had spent a lot of time psyching himself up for this as well as training to try and pass off as a real teen. Luci had gone all out, he had made an entire background for him, he even had a fake foster family who had no clue who he really was.

He let out a sigh as he tugged at the button up shirt he wore, the uniform was restricting, he hated tucking shirts in and he definitely hated how tight the shirt was when it was tucked in fully.

He was a true lover of baggy clothing and he hoped to god he didn’t have wear this all the time, they would be getting dorm rooms so he had brought some of his regular clothes as well as all of his belonging, he had one suitcase that was sent on ahead of him that contained all of his belongings.

Levi had no need for that much stuff. He had his powers after all.

Levi quickly managed to get to the gate, he took an id card from his back pocket as he swiped it on a scanner, the gate flashed as the destination changed before he stepped in, appearing in a massive assembly room, it looked like a theatre only with a more modern look.

He quickly moved forward and took a seat beside a male student who spared him a glance before looking back to the stage.

Levi silently screamed in joy ‘Yes! I don’t have to greet anyone!’ he was happy the boy hadn’t turned to talk to him. I guess his scar would be useful in that way, hopefully it would make people less likely to approach him.

Obviously that also made his mission harder but he just shrugged, he’ll figure it out, he always did after all.

Soon Students stopped pouring in and Levi turned his attention to the stage as a woman came walking out onto the stage, she had long black hair that was tied up in a ponytail, the end of the ponytail falling down behind her to be in line with her waist.

She had piercing green eyes and smiled as her eyes scanned the many many students sitting in front of her, she nodded as she seemed to look across the entire room, the students all silent as they waited for her to speak, Levi could tell she seemed to like their silence.

“Hello!” The woman spread her arms as she spoke, her voice being carried through the room by speakers of some kind, allowing everyone to hear her.

“My name is Lucella and I'm the headmaster of Avion, it is a pleasure to finally meet all of you! This is simply an introduction to Avion, a small one, you will have a better introduction when you first meet your teacher” she lifted her hand as she separated her index finger and thumb a tiny bit to emphasise her point.

“So to start off, Avion Academy is where you will learn to be Superheroes, you will learn how one should go about holding themselves, how to improve their powers and everything else, and of course we cater to Variants and Arcanists” she slowly started walking back and forth across the stage as she kept speaking.

“Your schooling will last three years, we will also teach you basic subjects that are required to graduate but those will only last for your first year. An important matter, I'm sure you are all thinking about is your dorms and how they will function” she gestured up above her as a holographic screen came to life.

It showed a floor plan, the room was massive, on one end showed a blue tinted room, which had three beds and a room attached to it labelled bathroom and on the other side, it had the same bathroom but instead the room was tinted pink.

In the middle was the biggest room, to the north of the floorplan, there was a massive kitchen with a big dining table just underneath the kitchen, to the south of the room was a living room, a big tv to the right side and a huge sofa which turned 90 degrees at the ends, making it have two corners.

Levi dreaded what this meant as he stared at the women in terror.

“For your entire time here you will share a dorm with three other people, there will be three males and three females, you 6 will also be a part of a team. The Academy has many out of class activities for teams to do together as teams are a massive part of being a Superhero and a massive part of how this Academy functions”.

She then gained a serious tone “of course any… forceful actions on any of your roommates will be dealt with swiftly and painfully, we don’t accept any violent or forceful people here”.

Her tone quickly switched as she gestured to her side “now, your dorm rooms will appear on your id card and you have been giving access to it, you will have the day to get your dorms ready and to meet your roomates, If you ask your card our lovely assistant Ai Leia will give you directions”.

Levi raised an eyebrow as he lifted his id card, he pressed a finger to the image of his face as a holographic screen appeared on it showing some of his info.

Avion Media

He looked at it and nodded, he knew what Media was, it was like the Social Media for the academy, you could “friend” other students and message them as well as other things, It wasn’t monitored by the Teacher officially but students knew it was to some extent.

They were quickly ushered out of the Assembly room, Levi stretched his arms out as he moved to a bench and sat down before looking at his id card “hey Leia you there?” he asked as he started at the id card.

A blue hologram of a cute bespectacled girl, who wore a cute summer dress appeared, the women looked to be about 20.

“Hello Student Levi! I’m Leia and it is a pleasure to meet you! Would you like directions to your dorm?” she asked and Levi nodded at her words.

He then followed the directions to his dorm, moving through a teleporter that led to the building called Dorms.

He entered the massive building to a room with a bunch of teleporters in it, he went to the one labelled two hundred which caused him to have to take some stairs up a few levels.

It brought him to a long hallway, he walked down, passing a few doors as he stopped at Dorm Room 207.

He swiped his id card across the scanner on top of the handle and the door swung open as he entered to see 5 people sat at the dining table, he then closed the door behind him as he moved over, his eyes taking in the appearance of each.

One of the girls he immediately recognised, one other girl he also recognised, his eyes widened as he glared at the girl, she seemed to gain a positively thrilled look.

Levi sighed ‘I get really unlucky and lucky at the same time… sometimes my life sucks’ he thought to himself frustration filling him as he thought of the future and how complicated his life just got.
