After this morning's events, Camila clears her mind with a cup of green tea and a book she reads at the front counter. Tae is found fixing up around the store and cleaning certain areas. The bell that hangs above the door echoes throughout the store and Camila looks up to see who entered. A pale, skinny, awkward-looking college student comes in and Camila raises an eyebrow.
Camila: “Hi, welcome to one of the many cheesy and tacky Salem gift shops. Anything I can help you with?”
Chansen: “Hi there, I think I’m good just browsing around, might get a t-shirt while here!
Camila: Okay, let us know when you’re set!
Camila goes back to reading her book which Chansen took a glance at. The book seemed to have something to do with hunting tactics and techniques. This made Chansen slightly uneasy but quickly began to scoot around the store. Again, the bell rang and another person entered. This time, the appearance of this person caught Chansen’s attention due to a big scar that slid down the customer.
Tae: “Sir, are you okay?”
Chansen: “Oh, sorry! I didn’t mean to stare!”
Tae: “Dude, you’re fine. He’s a regular of ours, he is a bit freaky I agree.” The whispered to Chansen.
Tae: “Between you and me, I think that guy has a crush on my girl.”
Chansen: “May I ask who this guy is?”
Tae: “His name is Geroge, such an odd name for a not-so-old guy isn’t it?”
Chansen: “I suppose…”
Camila and George seemed to be enjoying whatever they were talking about. Laughing and plenty of smiling between the two. Tae seemed irritated by their interactions and Chansen found this as an opportunity to get a bit of a closer look at the man. Chansen randomly picked out a t-shirt and found his way to the counter where Camila and George stood.
George: “Well Camila, it’s been a pleasure as always! I hope that the book I bought ya helps hunt them bloodsuckers and werewolves. You never know when you’ll need to defend yourself!”
Camila: “This book has been very helpful to me thank you! I bet you stopped in to give me another book?”
The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.
George: “You bet I do! Here, it’s something I think you're little lover boy might find jealous.”
A paranormal romance novel is slid over to Camila which makes her chuckle.
Camila: “Alright George, get a scootin’ I have a customer waiting behind ya.”
George: “Alright Camila, I will catch ya in another week or two. Hope all sell well today!”
As George turns around, Chansen moves out of the way. Upon inspecting George, he notices that they are similar in height, but George was certainly a bit bulky. The scar was deep and probably his most notable feature. Chansen felt as though this may have been the guy he and Mackenson have been searching for in this town. George didn’t pay any mind to Chansen, for he was used to the stares he received regularly.
Camila: “Hey kid, you’re up!”
Chansen: “Oh I’m sorry! I’m just getting this shirt today!”
Camila: “Ahhh, you went with a “vampire hunter” shirt…you doing this to be funny or do you actually like the shirt?”
Chansen: “Oh, I would never try to offend! I genuinely uh…like this shirt.” Chansen sounded a bit squeaky in his tone, and Camila began to squint her eyes in suspicion.
Camila: “You’re an odd one…are you just buying this to make fun of me? Otherwise, you wouldn’t have sounded like a middle school kid about to ask out his date.”
Chansen: “No, I apologize I do like this shirt…I think it’s uhhhh…cool!”
Camila: Well, alrighty then. You are giving me cash for it anyhow so I shouldn’t be pressing you if I’m profiting. That’ll be $20 kiddo!”
Chansen begins to scramble in his pockets for his wallet while doing so, a bunch of change flies out. Crashing to the ground and causing an unintentional ruckus, Chansen finds himself sweating and embarrassed. Tae comes over to assist with picking up the change and Chansen is grateful for such an act.
Chansen: “Ahhh, here it is, my apologies about the mess. Let me give you some cash and be on my way! Before I do though…what was up with that guy? He seemed…interesting.”
Camila: “Oh George? Yeah, he’s a bit odd at first, but once you get to know him, he’s a pretty chill guy. Why do you care? Because he looked like Scarface?”
Chansen: “Oh no, no! I don’t mind his appearance, he just said he usually gives you books and such. What kind of books does he bring?”
Camila: “I don’t know, whatever he thinks I’ll like…hunting books, old history books…things on paranormal-...wait why am I telling a kid my business!? Give me the $20 and scram you noisy brat!”
Chansen: “Sorry, I didn’t mean to pry like that! I apologize if I was rude or anything. I am just an avid reader and was thinking what kind of book I should read next! So I-..”
Camila: “Give me the cash and get movin’!”
Chansen: “Right, sorry! Here you are!”
Chansen hands Camila the cash and as the transaction is processed, Camila hands Chansen his receipt. He grabs his shirt and quickly tries to scurry for the exit.
Chansen: “Thank you! Have a wonderful day! Apologies on my part for being disorganized and rude! Uhhh…bye!”
Chansen quickly rushes out and Camila rolls her eyes.
Tae: “I liked that kid, he seemed to have a good head on his shoulders…unlike most people we get in here.”
Camila: “Yeah…he seemed fine. I am just already over today. Too many odd and unsettling things went on for my liking.”
Tae: “Well this is Salem after all, it's all about accepting the creeps and freaks right?”
Camila: “I suppose…but something about today just feels off…”
