I HAVE VISITED SOME OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL TOURIST ATTRACTIONS IN JAPAN, BUT NONE OF THEM WERE ABLE TO MAKE ME COMPARE THEM TO YOU. Every hour, I would take a peek at my phone, waiting for your daily random message to come, only to be disappointed that there is none. Days went by and I hadn't heard from her since. Well, who would talk to a stranger she just met for a few minutes? Then, I remembered the last message I received from her and my reply to that message and regretted replying with a 'yes'. "She must have cringed at my message and thought that I'm weird," I thought to myself, frustrated at my past self.
"But she asked the question… I shouldn't be overthinking this. I gotta go on with my life," I told myself, "The boy is the one who is supposed to make the first move. I'll talk to her on New Year's Day."

The restaurant we decided to eat in today is very fancy. Too fancy. I hate fancy. They reminded me of those bastards who thought that money could solve everything. However, the others were really excited so I guess I should throw my hate for fancy restaurants aside. Everything was normal. Well, except me trying not to eat like a 'commoner'. I sighed, exhausted from my forced 'noble' behaviour. I looked around the restaurant; it was dark, the only light being the spotlight on a band that was playing slow music on a stage where people can also do karaoke as well. The tables are lined up nicely to be around the stage. "Reminds me of the venue for the Oscars…" I thought.
I continued looking around; everyone in this restaurant was wearing suits and ties, or very fancy dresses. That was when I recognized you on the other side of the restaurant. You were wearing a velvety red dress which shimmered in the darkness. You wore very light makeup, making yourself shine like the glitter on your dress. You were also looking around and after what seemed like forever, our eyes met each other. I couldn't see your reaction, which bothered me. Were you disgusted at me or were you happy that we met coincidentally again? It was too bad that there were tables between us. Okay, that was a bit cringe. I wanted it to sound romantic but yeah, it didn't come out right.
The band players were calling for people to come up and sing. They called me. "Shit, shit, shit," I whispered to myself as I slowly walked up the stage.

They then called a girl wearing the velvet dress and I found out that it was you. My parents' reactions were a bit funny. I couldn't look at you; I knew that if I do, I wouldn't be able to stop.

The audience was clapping for us. I said to you, "Never knew you were a good singer."
And you replied back with "Same goes to you."
Our families talked for a while and it seemed like our parents were getting along just fine. The neighbouring kids were teasing me with cheating. "You have a girlfriend?" you inquired.
"No. There was this friend that's a girl back in my school and since she's a really good friend of mine, we got shipped a lot," I reasoned with her. That ship could ruin my love life.
"Oh, so you were like in false love?"
"Something like that…"
The night goes on. We said happy new year to each other when the clock strikes midnight and we decided to leave the restaurant. We were more than happy to be talking to each other and we both apologized for not texting to each other. I was happy. Very happy. And I hope you are too.
I felt like we're being followed. I looked back and saw a man wearing a grey hoodie walking with his hands in his pockets. I informed you of this matter and we decided to continue walking. It could just be a coincidence. It has been a while now and the man was still following us. I couldn't take it anymore; I stopped and inquired the man on why he's following us when suddenly, he rushed forward, which caused me to reflexively do a sidestep. I felt fragile all of a sudden and I looked down. From the center of my stomach was a knife handle sticking out, its blade sheathed into my flesh. I dropped down from the pain. The knife was forcefully pulled out and I coughed and tears fell down my cheeks. The pain was searing. I pressed my hands against the wound in an attempt to stop the blood from flowing. I screamed in agony.
My consciousness was fading as the man shouted for money. You were screaming for me to be okay. I couldn't let you get hurt. Never…
With determination, I pushed myself up. The pain would suddenly increase and I would rop back the ground, cursing at myself to get back up again. I finally was able to stand up and with the most of my strength in my legs, I pushed myself onto the man and with my right arm grabbed his right arm which had the knife and twisted it. The man's body attempted to react to the twist, but my other hand prevented it, causing the man to drop his weapon. I kicked the knife away and then pushed the man to the ground and then smashed his head on the ground as many times I could. I heard people shouting for me to stop. I smashed it one more time, seeing that the man has fainted due to a concussion.
I looked at you, exhausted and in pain, and smiled before finally giving in to my exhaustion…
The next thing I knew I was strapped onto a stroller and seeing people dressed in white and you crying for me to be okay. I then lost consciousness once more. I was, once again, ALL LONELY IN THE DARK...
