Urban Wolf: On The Run
He's Not Sending His Best

He's Not Sending His Best

“So, Sigmund, thanks to my contact we now know it was Barakan Company that attacked us. After doing some more sniffing, we’ve found what we think is their safehouse. We plan to attack it during the day, but I’m going to need some manpower in order to pull it off. I’ll need some recruits, obviously, but I’d also like Lenny to come as we’re going to have to take some people in alive to interrogate them, as we need to know who hired them.”

“Good plan, but I’ll need to keep Lenny for other tasks. I’ll send the three orphans you rescued with you, plus a few more recruits on top of that.”

I raise an eyebrow, annoyed by the prospect of having to take someone alive without Lenny manhandling them “Are you absolutely sure you can afford to send only adolescents with swords on a mission where we need to capture someone for intel?”

“Well, I’m not really doing that. I’m sending you, after all!” Sigmund smiled.

I roll my eyes.“It’s better than nothing.” I then sigh deeply. “I don’t think you fully understand how difficult you’ve made my job here, though.”

“You’ve proven yourself incredibly capable before. I’m sure you’ll be able to figure it out.” The way he spoke, he seemed to believe his own words, even more than Lenny liked my odds of rescuing Nick before I ended up in a coma.

“I’ve heard people tell me that they thought I could handle the hardest tasks before...” I slowly shake my head. “Also, seriously? Those orphans? They only joined us a few days ago!”

“Fine, fine, I’ll only send two of them. I was hoping to get them accustomed to the job nice and early.”

“Really? Fine. I’ll go head with the assault. I’m not sure you know just how difficult you’ve made my job, though.” I sigh.

Sigmund brings his hands together. “Excellent.”

That was the last of our conversation regarding planning our play. All that was left now was to get to work.
