After “forging” a new identity, they went through various places to restock some supplies. It wasn’t until they were done with everything did Rein decide to visit the Adventurer’s Guild.
Contrary to expectations, the location of the guild is at the border of the inner and outer areas. It was one of the tallest buildings in the vicinity, signifying the prestige this organization had.
“Stay here for a while. There is surveillance inside. You might get caught.” Rein said to Livia. “If there are people who want to trouble you, here.”
He took out a cylindrical thing. When he swung it, it turned into a baton.
Fizzle-!
Fizzle-!
Electric arcs appeared from it.
“Remember to hit them hard.”
“Alright…”
When Rein went inside, a bustling area greeted him. There are people wearing tactical gear talking about a certain quest and likes.
Nobody paid much attention to a ‘kid’ like Rein, simply because the guild had too many children joining to feed themselves. If they are lucky, they could earn something; if not, they will die.
“Have you heard? There’s a monster roar that scares the surrounding monsters within a hundred kilometers.”
“Ah, that one? I heard the guild’s paying a lot for its intel. It could be a strong one.”
“Chronicle rank? It might be possible…”
The guild has a ranking when it comes to monsters. It corresponded to the current ranks established within the five kingdoms, namely: Soldier (Apprentice), Commander (Formal), General (Meister), Chronicle (Grand Meister), and Crown (Saint).
The black dragon is a Chronicle-rank monster that could destroy cities. It was through sheer luck that Rein wasn’t noticed—due to his swift decision to increase his stealth.
With all the ‘stronger ants’ there to entertain it, the black dragon didn’t bother to kill the ones who are even weaker than ants.
“A bounty… I’m glad I did this…”
Rein grasped his sling bag. His usual quest in the guild is about reconnaissance—that is, surveying a ‘danger zone’. Although it was mapped out years ago, the guild strives to keep an updated version of it.
With the ‘scanner’ given to scavengers (requiring them to pay a guarantee fee), Rein was able to earn several thousand gils every expedition.
Before heading to the counter, Rein looked for the ‘urgent quest’ he overheard. He went in front of a huge holographic screen. After opening the search engine, he didn’t take long until he saw the said quest.
[Urgent: Investigate the suspected Chronicle-rank Monster]
[Information: With the abandoned Hjilmark City as the epicenter, the surrounding one hundred kilometers were swept by a disturbance of a 500db and above shockwave. It…]

[Accept]
A popup appeared in front of Rein as soon as he clicked accept.
[Please scan your identification card.]
Taking out the thin silver card, the quest was credited to his ‘account’.
With that settled, Rein went to the counter.
‘Elves… again. I wonder what Hikari is doing…’
A red-haired elf greeted him. Her glasses gave her an air of an intellectual. Though, her big chest became an even greater focus for most adventurers.
Rein shook his thoughts off.
“Good day. What is your concern?”
“I wanted to turn in a quest. A reconnaissance-type one.” He replied as he took out his id and his scanner. “It recorded the data for these two quests.”
The receptionist scanned his card and saw his report. That included his ongoing quests as of the moment.
“This…”
She soon paused as she saw the acceptance of an urgent quest. Taking a few silent breaths, she took the scanner and began verifying it.
‘Code Red was triggered. Indirect impact of 700db, an impact rating of 7.31, a strong Chronicle Rank…’
As the receptionist placed the scanner down, she looked at the ‘kid’ who submitted the results before snapping back to herself.
“Please wait for a while with the verification of the quest. Would you accompany me to the guild supervisor’s office?”
“Sure.”
When the two started walking together, the surrounding adventurers took notice of him.
“Hey, hey… Being escorted by Miss Rey is a big deal…”
“What did that kid do..?”
“Maybe he’s strong and did some outrageous quest?”
“I didn’t notice him before. Strange…”
Rein navigated through a long but complicated hallway. He saw guild staff going in and out of rooms now and then. With every person he saw, he swiftly checked their skill panels.
‘Five meter distance… That’s the furthest I could do.’
Aside from the new specializations he saw in the [Mind] section such as [Faith] under [Willpower] and [Persuasion] under [Charisma], he also reached the limit on how far he could use his ‘ability’ to call out skill panels.
Most importantly…
‘I could use their points on their behalf.’
Rein used a point to improve the expertise of some guild staff that he saw. It also confirmed his guess that this ability is far more terrifying than he imagined.
‘If I built a specialized armed force… or at least a group around me…’
“The guild supervisor is inside. I shall report your findings. He might ask some questions. Please be prepared.”
His thoughts were interrupted by Rey’s voice.
The moment she opened the metallic door, the sound of rustling papers could be heard.
“I presume this is the adventurer?”
“Yes, Sir Michael.”
An old man with short-cut hair sternly signed one document after another. A glint of light is present in his eyes, showcasing how swift his mind moved.
Out of habit, Rein opened his skill panel.
‘What the…’
He could barely hide the shock in his face. Out of five, two stats stood out the most.
[Energy: 25/30]
[Mind: 27/30]
It was his first time encountering someone with nigh-maxed stats. A huge list of specializations could be seen on all five of his skill panels.
‘This rank and his age… He is a monster…’
“Hm?”
Rein’s initial expression didn’t escape the old man’s attention. Numerous possibilities ran through his mind before he resumed his usual work.
“I understand. You can leave first, Rey.”
“Yes.”
When only the two of them were left in the office, the old man stopped signing documents.
“I believe it was you who went into that monster’s lair, Mister Rein.” The old man spoke as he slowly looked at him. “Would you like to hear my offer?”
At this moment, one of the renowned Saints of the Pelcan Kingdom made his offer.
