Chapter 1: What was that?

Chapter 1: What was that?

“Wha?!?”

Blinking my eyes several times in confusion, I found myself staring down at an empty brown desk. It looked very similar to one of those old wooden types you would often see in elementary schools. On it was a spot of drool, which I could only assume belonged to me, since I had been resting my head on it just seconds ago.

Ugh, what happened? I feel tired.

Rubbing the crust off my eyes. I looked up to see lanky old man, standing eerily close to me.

He wore a pair of glasses, and had a creepy thin smile plastered on his face. But what really spooked me was the fact that his irises were glowing bright green, like a pair of incandescent light bulbs.

Now, that’s not something you see every day.

We both quietly just stared at each other. Neither party volunteering to say anything. The silence dragged on for a couple seconds, and it was starting to get a bit awkward. I was considering of whether or not to say something. But luckily, it seemed Mr. Glowing Eye Man didn’t appreciate the prolonged stretch of silence either. Since he chose to speak up first.

“Well Mr. Lynn, was there something you found boring about my lecture?” He asked. Despite, his smile his tone of voice sounded very condescending.

Mr. Lynn? Lecture??

Who the heck is that? Just when I was about to respond back to him, I noticed some slight giggles coming from the background. That’s when I finally took stock of my surroundings.

Looking around, I realized that I was inside of a classroom, with twenty or so dozen teenage kids staring at me. Some were snickering in contempt, while others were passively observing, but most seemed like they were getting ready to enjoy a good show.

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

“Well Mr. Lynn.” The old man repeated, earning my attention again.

Okay. Why is he calling me that? He seems to be referring to me, but my name is Bryan not Lynn. That is not the only peculiar thing. This isn't my office. Why the hell am I in a classroom surrounded by kids?

“Did you lose your tongue boy.” he asked, managing to sound like an even more of a smarmy asshole.

Argh!! And then theirs this cock. Why is he talking down on me like he’s, my superior? Who does he think he is?

I stood up “Hey asshole I..” but before I could give this fucker a piece of my mind. I felt intense pressure consume me, and in that instance, I felt my knees buckle and drop to the floor.

“What were you going to say, BOY, try and repeat those words.” he said slowly. I couldn’t, my mind was reeling. “This isn’t your backyard. I don’t take kindly to rude students.” There was a menacing undercurrent in his words now that was not their previously.

But, I was no longer capable of paying attention. I was struggling to just breathe. My mind was in disarray, and I could feel the contents in my stomach churning. Oh no.

Bleurgh

All the bile in my stomach gushed out like a waterfall. The ground was now covered in a puddle of my own vomit. Fortunately, the pressure I was feeling had dissipated at that point, and I could properly breathe again.

Cough Cough Cough

What was that? It felt like someone had dropped a mountain on my head. I wearily glanced back at the old man. His eyes had stopped glowing, but that did not ease my feelings of trepidation.

"Hah." He sighed

“Go to the bathroom and clean yourself up. Afterwards, wait in my office and we’ll talk later.” I just slowly nodded my head not really trusting myself to speak properly at the moment. But, the gesture seems to have satisfied him enough. As he turned his attention away from me.

Looking down at the spot I just threw up on. He casually waved his hand over the vomit, and a burst green flame sprung into life, causing me to tumble backward; and squeal in shock. This spurred all the kids in the class to burst into laughter, further humiliating myself.  Except for the he old man, who seemed content to just ignore me now.

Then just as casually as before, he waved his hand again, and the flames instantly vanished. The spot where I threw up was now crystal clean, like it had never been dirty in the first place, and with it the shattering of my mind.

Magic. He can fucking do MAGIC?!!?
