Gara couldn't hear the low and slow banter of old people all around her.
She was distracted, gazing at the horizon; that thin line between the blue of the sea and the lighter blue of the sky.
If she focused enough, the line would seem to thicken, as if her brain refused to accept the two shades of blue could be of a different source and was trying to merge them together.
The rational part of her mind would clash with her subconscious, leaving her with a sense of awe.
But, that was it.
Once she was overwhelmed by the sensation she couldn't think further down this line.
This left her in a state of inner peace but with a subconscious question: could she have done it, could she have ever reached the horizon if she dedicated herself to its pursuit, placing friends and family second.
That was such a silly question, she loved her family and her friends were beside her even now, a mundane day like the others, and they will be with her tomorrow like they had been yesterday.
The void of wonder inside her heart would never close, but that didn't mean she couldn't enjoy her life, especially now that it was coming to an end.

"Nicalua, I hadn't noticed you there. You should have awakened me from my revelry."
By the corner of her eye she noticed a boy sitting on the same bench as her, her dear grandson had already grown so much.
Nicalua though didn't respond to her immediately, instead gazing at the same horizon she had been distracted from before.
This left Gara a good couple of seconds to give a long look at him, revealing something almost startling.
"The water vapor from the sea is indeed the haze you see when looking at the horizon, but it's not the right direction to reach it, you're merely trying to imitate it.
That's why you can't complete the first cycle: your ambition will never be achieved this way."
Coupled with his words, a chill went down the old woman's spine.
"Who are you? Why did you come here? Haven't malicious spirits vanished a long time ago?"
Eyes too calm to belong to a child like him met hers. Hells, no human should have such a self assured and confident look on their face.
A faint smirk from him almost broke her.
"Well, the first time you didn't react as much from the change in your grandson. But I guess this is indeed too much."
A cultured look appeared on his face, but it was definitely a downgrade from before.
"Haha. What are you saying granny? What about the fabled evil spirits?"
The clouded eyes of the old woman showed a struggle of such intensity she shouldn't be able to feel after her extensive experience.
Accepting her grandson had disappeared and dealing with a malicious spirit of legend or staying in blissful ignorance.
"Oh granny. To be honest I thought about going out into the world and embark on the journey of a Mental Master, that's why I tried a little impression just now. How was it?"
This seemed to seal the deal for Gara as she embraced Nicalua with her portly body.
With a hollow laughter she responded.
"It's great Nicalua, almost too much. haha.
Ha."
