Chapter 2: Questions & Answers

Chapter 2: Questions & Answers

One minute ago I was just an ordinary high school boy, now I stuck in this not-so-dark dark void with stranger touched me without my permission. At least it’s a woman so I’m okay with that. ‘How did you know it was a female when you can’t even see her?’ you ask? Well, she sound like a girl, smell like one too and also she got boobs. I can just felt her breast on my back.

And who says I can’t see her? I was looking at her right now. She was an impossibly beautiful woman in her mid 20’s with silver eyes, white long straight hair to her waist, big bosom, hourglass figure, and a voice that can make any singer envious. She wore a radiant white dress seemingly made of silk similar to those on Greek women in some old painting and statues at the museum. The lady for some reason emmit a radiant light brighting up the void around me. I was about to ask her questions when she hold her hand out stoping me from making a sound.

“Grab my hand my lord and I will guide you to your home world.” She says while offering her hand to me.

“Wait a sec, what about the others? Are you going to save them or did you already done that? What happened to me? And what the deal is with this ‘my lord’ you talking about?” I ask her.

“Eh? Why would I save them? I saw them hurt you all the time my lord. As for your other questions, it would take some time to explain it.”

“So? Is it a problem to tell me right here and now? Or is it not safe to talk about it in this place?”

The lady take few moment before answering, “No, there’s no problem whatsoever. Well first I’ll start with the easiest one first. You are now in a zone between time and space, simply called ‘The Gap’. Normally, when mortals travel through time or worlds, they will just pass this place as if it was a small gap on the floor tiles. The only being that can enter such place are what mortals called ‘Gods’ and those whom has their permission to. The same can be said to your ‘friends’, but you on the other hand are a special case. We’ll go on that later. As for why I refers you as ‘my lord’, I have to start from the beginning.-

-Eons ago, when there were only 5 existing worlds, the realm of gods hold responsibility to guard a malicious source at bay. We construct a gigantic Rune up in the sky to seal what we called ‘The Forbidden’ from running rampant destroying the worlds into disexistence. The seal, although prove powerful, require an enourmous amount of power. For millenia, nothing problematic happen. But then, the gods that were guarding the seals were suddenly vanish. The seal began to crumble so with no other option, other gods replace the deceased. This cycle continue. While gods can just revived after centuries or so, no gods were willingly to guard the seal the second time. They said that dying this way were something that put deep trauma on them, they would rather be tortured for eternity than to experience that again.-

-One day, a visitor suddenly came to the gods realm like it was nothing special. He was a mage scholar that admit he was actually come to there by accident during experiment. The visitor proved to be a strong individual when one arrogant god decide attack him and quickly beaten in a fist fight. He was an interesting guest to the world and suprisingly a curious one. Even in the presence of the gods, he did not falter just like you my lord. Instead, we were overwhelmed by his thirst of knowledge. Not only he grasp our wisdom quickly, he even master all of our magic in a span of a year. For 20 years the scholar living carefreelly within our world when suddenly, the current seal guardians turn corrupted by the influence of ‘The Forbidden’ and decided to break the seal. We were able to stop them just in time but the corruption already goes through. None of the gods present at that time willing to replace the fallen guardian. The scholar who witness this event chimed in to ask what happened. After he got the gits of it, he decide to volunteer to be the next guardian.-

-We were speechless by his blantant action. Some of the gods feel ashamed while the other feel pity. The eldest of us told the scholar that it is impossible for a mortal to be a seal guardian. The man were contemplating for a while when suddenly he had an idea. To tell you the truth, it was an idiotic idea ever proposed by anything alive in this world, even until today. But for some reason the eldest god actually considering this idea and decide to give it a shot. The plan was actually simple yet theorically impossible, the gods will send some of their power into the scholar and then he’ll use this accumulated power to fix the seal. We were positive this was a fool errand, but when the plan actualy succeded, we were astonished by the result. Not only it was restored, the seal somehow become strudier. Ever since then, the seal no longer crumbling away even after enternities long.

-But everything has costs and in this case, it was the scholar’s life. We saw him crumbling into dust right in front of us and no matter what we do we can’t revive him. Normaly, mortals can be revived by the gods without any restriction. We only need to get a piece of their soul, will it into their respective body and they’ll start breathing in no time. But in his case, not only there are no body remain, his soul just vanish without a trace. We have some theory to make sense the situation. The first one is his soul has cease existence which is very unlikely. Souls in essence are a conscious substance that can’t be destroyed by anything, even by ‘The Forbiden’.-

-The second is even more unlikely. Even if the gods can revive by themself, they can’t revive other gods even if they tried. So the other possibility is that the scholar ascend to godhood. To reach a godhood, knowledge alone doesn’t cut it. One must experience many thing such as reaching tranquilty, making a great feat, saving the world, or something alike until their soul become stong.-

-For thoursands of millenia we searched high and low for the where about of the scholar. We have experience even more loss than this, but the dead of our savior devastated us more than anything. From there on, we refer the scholar as ‘The Hero of The Gods’. Since then, one by one worlds began to form. Right now we have as much worlds as the star in the sky. Yes, the star is actually a gate to the other world. It takes bravery to attempt such feat, though.-

-Then, 19 years ago, we have finally found him. Fragments of the savior scattered across the multiverse. Everyone that don’t have a world they ruled in, including me decide to watch over each of the incarnation of the saviour. However, you’re special! Out of all the incarnations you have the highest concetration of power, almost as much as him. I was sooo lucky to be chosen to watch over you my lo-”

“zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz”

*finger snaping fx*

“Huh? Whut? Did I miss anything?”

“*sigh*, nevermind. I’ll just send you the information directly to your mind.”

“Then, why didn’t you do it in since the begining?”

“Trust me, you’ll find out soon enough. Now come, bring me your head over here.” the lady said while gesturing me to come closer.

*shriiiiiing* “GAH, it hurt!!” I yelped in pain when she put her index finger to my forehead. So that’s the reason she’s telling me the long way.

Knowledge filled within my mind giving me the information I need. Although it also filled me with even more question.

“If you were watch over me, why did you save me only now? I know that I don’t have the most missreable childhood but some of them definetly grief me so. Is it because there are rules to keep gods from interfering a mortal affairs? If it is so, then won’t the act of saving me count as breaking said rule?”

“You are both correct and not, my lord. It is true that most worldly affair are not to be tampered with. However, in some special case gods are permited if not required to take action. Example of these kind of case is the outerworld summoning. When a world inhabitants decide to perform a summoning ritual, the gods will form a discussion on who will be the one that be summoned. Your case however was different. You and the other three were kidnapped by a force unbeknownst to us. My comrades were still finding out the owner of the magic as of now.”

“Then what’s the problem with saving them?”

“It’s because there’s no guarantee that they’ll survive after the initial summoning! The method of the summoning involve grasping you with a tentacle made of miasma, who know what would happen to the other. There’s no telling whether they already turned into pawn of evil or become some sort of sacrifice to some sick sects. I’m sorry my lord but even if it’s you, none of the other gods would go on such a goose chase without a proper reason for it!”

Reason? So as long as there’s a good reason, she’ll allowed me to save them, huh?

“If it’s a reason you want, I’ll give you one! Not too long ago those three were hitting me with a baseball bat. I want to know why would they do such a thing. Is it not a good reason for you.” I ask the lady.

For a few seconds she looked at me wide eyedly. She then just sigh and holding her chin while seemingly thinking about something. A soft giggles comes out of her mouth and then she says, “Alright, you pass the test!”

“The test?”

“I know the moment I met you, you’ll be the most gentle mortal and a have a unique personality. Although your reasoning still lacking, there’s no hestitation in your tone.”

“So you’ll let me go right?!”

“Of course, but I’ll have to warn you if you that the world they’re in now is a dog eat dog world. Every corner will be filled with danger for you. Are you prepared for that?”

“Yes.”

“Good.” after she said that, a oval shaped portal opened beside her. “The moment you step in through this gate, there’s no second tho.... HEY!! WAIT A SEC...”

Before she finished her sentence, I already leaped through the portal. On second thought, I probably should have let her finish because right now I’m about 6000 meters (19685.04 feet) above the ground. Oh well, I probably going to survive anyway knowing I got deus ex machina am the reincarnation of the gods’s hero or someting like that. For now I’m enjoying my first chuteless freefall.
