"What the hell..."

"What just happened... where am I? This fucker Dave... if I catch your little mouse face I'm going to smack your teeth out! Where the fuck did you pull me while I slept?!"

"Never do I sleep on this damn bench ever again!" Getting to his feet, a young man looked around curiously. He was inside a dark green forest, the barks of trees and the soil full of fallen leaves a dark brown color. The dampness of the air caused him to shiver slightly.

"Huff~ It's not hot in here..." Having a marine jacket and pair of pants was not enough to keep the coldness at bay.

His every small steps snapping twigs and crushing dry leaves, he heard the faint cooing of birds from afar. Gazing at the sky, he only saw dark green.

"Shit, this forest is so big! So dense as well... smells nice though, guess that's the perk of being surrounded by nature. Don't have to feel like I'm literally drinking petrol by the moment. Sure hits my nose different."

'This is annoying...'

"Hoi! Dave!! Dave~! Can you hear me you fucker?! Get back here! Tell me the exit or whatever. Come on bro... this isn't funny..."

"Hey!"

"Hey..."

"Bro... I'm not scared... I won't be scared so just come out..." Shivering a bit more, the youth crossed his arms in an attempt at staying warm somewhat. He then began to run around the forest, trying to catch someone hiding behind the trunks.

A sharp sound echoing, he was startled, but also sparking with joy.

"Hah! Caught you!" Jumping a couple meters in front, he landed behind a tree. However, there was no one.

"..."

"That was..."

"My footsteps?"

"I'm not scared!"

"Are there wolves in forests?"

"Yeah no... not here."

"..."

"....."

"Okay, I'm just a little bit..."

"Mom..."

"Come on Dave! I'll admit it! You really got me there, haha..."

'Why do I feel so bad?'

"If... if I run... in a single direction for a few hours... I should find the exit, right? Surely... I wouldn't end up even deeper... people are out here searching for me, right? Yeah, probably. No! Most li- no, surely! Yes! Hey!! Everyone! I'm here!!!"

Where was everybody? He could hear neither civilization nor much wildlife. Except the couple of birds far away, he was alone. The trees were quite chaotically spread as well, sometimes making it easier to see the horizon while some other times being too tight for light to pass through their leaves.

Panicking from such a bad joke, the young man could not rest easy, spending minutes after minutes until they added up to hours, each second seemingly lasting an eternity. He was on edge, always alert to every little thing, disrupting his perception of time.

How long had it been since he arrived here? His stomach was grumbling audibly, his ears were full of white noise and his eyes turned blurry from tears. He was resting against a tree, trying to get some rest whilst awaiting rescue. Even without much light to begin with, he could tell night to be slowly approaching.

Countless scenarios appeared in his head since. From kidnapping all the way to being sent on an abandoned island in some battle royal game for bored tycoons.

Yet, in that moment of unease, in that period of unrest... a sound came forth.

He had not moved since laying down here. It had been a half an hour since a sound was even heard. And not only that, but that sound came from above.

And so, his eyes focused for the first time in two hours, adrenaline spiking inside him.

"..." He dared not make a sound. Was it some kind of Halloween prank?

Why was there a man in the branches above him? Why was this man so weird? It was quite creepy.

'Green..?' The man he saw was fairly short, probably ending up worse than him, with sharp teeth. Weirdly sharpened teeth, in fact. They were long and glistening, bare for his eyes to see. The green skin was covered in warts, some fur and leather wrapped around his waist. In his hand was a short and crude spear.

And this spear was aimed at him who laid below.

"..." Gulping a bit, he saw night beginning to fall.

'How come... I didn't notice him..? How... long...'

"Crieek!"

"!!" The sharp screech was disturbing his senses, overwhelmed by such a nasty wavelength. This same screech however helped him to his feet faster than he thought possible.

"Uwahhh!!" Turning his back to the man or creature, he ran. He could only run. And as he did, a slate of light formed before his eyes.

"What is this?! Go away! I can't see!" Trashing around, waving his arms in hopes of dispersing this panel of light, Dorian tripped on a root.

"Fu-oopf!" Raising his head, now just above the ground, he winced at the sharp pain on his chin.

"Ah... sssss~ ouh... my head..." This momentary pause gave the goblin behind enough time to catch up. After a few moments of daze, he also realized this issue.

"Uwah!!" Rolling again and again like a sausage falling off a cliff, he gambled on the goblin missing whatever it was attempting. Strangely enough, the goblin did end up missing its spear throw, burying the tip into the soil.

"Criek! Creee!" Hearing the thump from the collision between spearhead and earth, Dorian shivered.

"Fuck, fuck, fuck! Please! Dave! Mom!!" Tearing up, Dorian got up to his feet, almost tumbling around as he ran faster than he ever did. Adrenaline was rushing through his veins, his sense of time both slow and dreamy. One moment could pass similar to an hour while some others would flash by. He could not stop thinking about the situation right behind him. The only thing he heard were hurried footsteps, the dry leaves crushed under the goblin's rampaging feet.

His breathing was rapid and rugged, his stamina was depleting even further than it already was ever since arriving in this forest. Each step became heavier, but at the same time, he could feel the ground turn cloudy. The more he ran, the less he felt. At some point, even though he was quite athletic, a stitch began to form. His every reach of the leg, his every landing of the foot, each of them exponentially worsened this pain. His side was hurting so much, he could barely find the strength to continue. If not for the adrenaline, he would have already stopped.

"Why!? What did I do?!! Please! Someone! Help me! Please!!"

"Crieeek!!" Hearing the goblin even closer, he felt his jacket move strangely. He knew that this most likely was the goblin's fingertips or spear grazing it. This meant his hunter to be closer than he thought. The hunter was fast. He could not deny it. If he turned around now, he would lose his momentum. This could not be avoided as a tree could hinder his path at any time.

But if he did not, how could he react to a spear thrusting into his back?

Hesitating between one and the other, the fear of the unknown caught him in the end.

Turning around, he saw the goblin laugh at him. He could see its yellow eyes and black rectangular pupils like ones of a toad. It had no irises, but it certainly had something much more terrifying. A spear much longer than its deformed nose, as if one from a witch of fairy tales.

"Ahhh!" Screaming, Dorian saw the spearhead close the distance. The goblin was thrusting forward.

The difference in speed was clear to him now. Not only so, but the spear was nearly inevitable.

Trying to put his hands forward, in attempts at reducing the damage, the spearhead dug into his belly.

"Urgh! Bu...rrr...gah..." It made its way through skin, fat, flesh and muscle. Its rugged stone texture easily stabbed his abdominal muscles like paper, suddenly slashing from side to side.

Blood spilling everywhere, Dorian fell to his knees crying, his eyes hollow from the shock. He could not really feel much pain, he was too scared to care about it.

He could see through the darkness plaguing his lucidity parts of his guts spilling outside. His intestine fell on the soil, tainting the earth.

Before he could scream once more, the goblin grabbed him by the hair before dragging him deeper into the forest, leaving a faint trail of red. Dorian did not know how long he would live for, he did not know how far he would be taken.

He only hoped for it to be nothing but a dream.
