The looks on all of the transferee’s faces were bright. The anxiety from their situation and the incident from before momentarily put on the back–burner due to their excitement.
I thought that Prince Altru was really smart to bring us all here now. He might have even purposefully had the combative Bobby go first in order to get even the most challenging people calmed down. I can’t say that I really focused on those thoughts though, as I was just as excited as the rest.
As soon as the mage asked who wanted to go next a few people immediately started clamoring to get up on stage first. I also wanted to see my window as soon as possible and moved to join the crowd of people scrambling to the stage until I felt a hand clasp down on my shoulder. When I turned to see who I saw the hulking form of Altru with a light smile on his lips.
“Why don’t you wait till the end?” he said.
“Why?”
Altru rubbed his chin while seeming to gather his thoughts.
“You wouldn’t know since you just got this world, but any abilities involving healing, even self-healing, are exceedingly rare. There is a chance that when the soldiers see the special attributes you have it could increase morale and give some hope for the war. I was just thinking that having you go last would be the best way to leave an impression in my citizens' hearts.”
Hmmm… That made sense…
It was a good reason and its purpose was to lighten the hearts of his own citizens. We had been told that we would be fighting “demons” and I imagined something like a war against creatures with that name would be taxing on the civilians’ psyche. I was excited to see what I could do but I decided to wait. If for no other reason I thought that getting on the prince’s good side would be beneficial for my time in this world.
“Ok, I’ll wait then.”
Altru gave a sincere smile and then took his hand off my shoulder and stepped back a bit. The second person had made their way onto the stage and the spell to see their window was almost done. It wasn’t someone I knew.
May and Jullian were next to me as we watched. I could hear May grumbling to herself about something, but I just figured she was still uncomfortable with the large crowd and knowing she would have to walk up on stage eventually.
I sat back and watched as each person had their powers revealed. There was one thought I had about halfway through.
‘Aren’t we cheats?’
Everyone who was summoned had amazing powers, exceptionally high stats, or both. I thought Bobby might be exceptional because he was so fit on earth, but it turns out that that was not the main factor. Everyone was amazing; with Bobby being about average. Some people were way more amazing than him.
Amazing special attributes like Edge Dancer, Flight Mage, One With Magic, and Hellfire Specialist kept popping up on each person’s window. And it wasn’t just combat abilities either. One person had an attribute called Superior Sowing which apparently made plants grow to full size within a day of being planted. Despite all the amazing abilities shown so far this person received the strongest response from the mage who was showing the window and Prince Altru who was still behind me.
The mage looked at the transferee with lively eyes.
“Thank the gods, we needed someone to make up our food deficit. You’ll be a hero to all of our empire’s citizens, not just our soldiers.”
According to the murmurs I heard around me, the demons had taken the most fertile lands of the empire last year. The food they had stored was still available, but running out fast. I guess I never thought about attributes that weren’t related to combat or magic, I was thinking about it too much like a game and not real life, where all sorts of abilities are useful and not just the ones that let you fight better.
This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.
Titan, Sharp Eye, All Senses Up, Iron Skin. Natural Doctor, Alchemy Up, Potion Specialist, Codex of the Gods. All sorts of amazing powers for both combat and non-combat came out. Finally, someone I knew made it up to the stage.
Kristen Brown. When her page was revealed I thought it was just too fitting. Her single special attribute was simply called “Perfection”. The description on it was as follows: “Anything that this person sets their mind to will be mastered given time. Thought processing, physical abilities, and learning capabilities are all improved to allow for exponential growth in any category.”
‘She really just got a blank cheque.’
She could choose to be anything she wanted and it would work out. She had low starting stats but it was obvious it would not stay that way.
My other acquaintances were all just as impressive.
Jullian got no special attribute, but his stats were all extremely high. His health and mana were both above 100 and his stats were all over 20. In comparison to the rest of us his abilities were already ready to use without any training, his level was also the only one that wasn’t level 1 which reflected his ability to use what he had well. He was still only level 3 though.
While Jullian and May were impressive, the biggest shock had yet to come.
People came and went till there were only 2 transferees left, me and May.
May went up with a stiff expression and when her time came. The chatter in the room had been at a fevered level for a while now. All of the soldiers and others in the room were excited. The mood was like a festival was being held in this one room. Then May’s window came up.

[Blessed by the god of Light] [Holy] [Potential Saint]
I was amazed. May had 3 times more mana than anyone else who had been shown. Her Luck was also by far the highest. I was happy for her and I felt like she was someone who acted saintly.
But something was off…
I was so focused on her page I didn’t realize it at first but the room had become very, very quiet.
Everyone from this world was silent, the only noise came from some transferee’s but as they noticed the strange shift in the atmosphere they also grew quiet.
After a few strained moments of silence that seemed to stretch forever, with May looking around in a panic and not understanding what was going on, the mage on the stage finally broke the silence.
He took about 4 large steps backward until he was at the edge of the stage and looked at her with an emotion I didn’t understand, but was very apparent.
Fear.
The mage was terrified of her, I’ve never seen someone who’s eyes actually quivered in real life, but his were, and tears were gathering at the corner of his eyes.
“The god of, of light?”
He stuttered in a voice that was barely audible.
Altru’s voice boomed in the quiet room, it was the most serious and firm voice he had used since we first saw him.
“Open the detail window”
After the mage didn’t move for a second Altru spoke again.
“Now.”
His voice was cold.
The mage looked between Altru and May before walking up and writing the spell out quickly to reveal the detail of her attributes.

Second, they are terrifying.
