Synopsis

Superheroes are a thing, people are born with animal features and giant monsters emerge from the ocean or the forest every so often to wreak havoc. In a world where at least one in a hundred people is super how is an every day jamoke supposed to survive in New York City, where stuff like this concentrates?      Well, Harvey Weir isn't normal, he's the Bouncer, wannabe hero, and one of the very few with no powers. The Bouncer wants to join the New York Nine and is dragging his partners, Mandusa and Megadude along for the ride. Yes, their names suck, no, they don't want to hear about it.      All that stands in their way besides the fact that the Nine are the most exclusive club on the planet is the fact that their leader, the nigh-invincible Solar Scion hates them. Other than that it's smooth sailing.      Best summed up with the question "what if the Justice League sucked as much as the rest of us" Universal shows what would happen if your typical person became super. Tell you right now; they don't improve in any useful way. Close to a century ago the world went crazy as human advancement first fouled the environment then turned the human genome into an unstable mess. Since the 1930's an ever-growing portion of people have powers above and beyond those of mortal men while others are born part man, part animal. This, and a gigantic range of bizarre conditions and diseases, is the price we pay for scientific advancement. Cryptids, kaiju and other monsters hailed the new era, answered with "Super Heroes" springing up to fight them back and "Super Villains" appearing in answer to the heroes. Some like to think that it calmed down after awhile but, the truth is, the world just got used to the nonsense and the chaos. If two titans want to duke it out in Times Square, more power to them, so long as it doesn't disrupt the morning commute. From this mess, in the modern day, a trio of misanthropes are thrust together in a quest for glory in The Northeastern Megalopolis, a gigantic, contiguous supercity spanning most of the Northeastern United States and encompassing a population of over 52 million. They look to make it big. Meanwhile the New York Nine, elite superheroes of world renown, aim to maintain their position in an industry that muddies private and public works, law enforcement and the very idea of what it means to be a "hero". There's no unseating them but, then, why try if you can join them? If only there were some openings...
