Chapter 48- A face of terror

Chapter 48- A face of terror

"What?", the goblin stated, seeming confused and angry.

While Trevor had been distracting the goblin Garett had run an analysis on him.

[Fargar] (Lvl 20)

Attack: 30-60 (Melee)

Physical Defense: 15

Magical Defense: 10 (Talisman)

HP: 80/80

MP: 20/20

Trevor grabbed hold of the goblin's neck in a choke hold as he wrapped his arm all the way around the goblin.

"Why you!?! I thought you were like me??!! No... you are... I can feel it.... you plan on making me feel terror??!! ME?!?!! THE GREAT FARGAR, STRONGEST MEMBER OF THE GOBLIN RACE!?!! HAH!!! I will turn you all into torture subjects as well! Behold my power!!"

Fargar was screaming as he struggled to escape the choke hold, but using his free hands, he made a symbol and chanted [Invoke Mass Panic]

[Fargar MP: 10/20]

[Player Trevor is immune to Panic due to his excessive ego]

[Player Garett: Charisma roll: Needed: 50. Roll: 1]

[Player Samantha: Charisma roll: Needed: 50. Roll: 1]

[Player Ashley: Charisma roll: Needed: 50. Roll: 4]

[Player Garett is Panicked]

[Player Samantha is Panicked]

[Player Ashley is Panicked]

Garett felt a feeling of dread inside his heart. He felt the need to cower in fear and run, but could not do so as the 3m radius would prevent him from doing so.

Memories of being betrayed by Daniel filled his head and he started darting his eyes back and forth across the room frantically looking for something... someone to cling to. Yet he could not see or find anyone. His sight had gone blurry, and the only thing he could focus on was the memories that replayed over and over.

Ashley too was filled with an awful sense of terror, and she was reminded all over again of the times where she stood up in front of others, frantically trying to get the words out of her mouth, but couldn't.

She tried desperately to speak, choking on her own spit and tearing up as the others seemed to sneer at her, laughing at her inability to communicate.

Samantha's mind was filled with the memories of when she was younger, of others looking at her with disgust. Before she had vowed to become a kind and beautiful role model, she was nothing more than an rough tomboy who was bullied and hated by many. These memories filled her head, of the other more popular girls laughing at her while hazing her. It was because of this teasing that Samantha had went out of her way to become beautiful and loved by all... because she never wanted to feel that pain again.

The three of them crouched down and held their heads with both of their hands, screaming in pain and fear.

"AGH!!! MAKE IT STOP!!!"

"YOU BASTARD, DANIEL!!!"

"HELP!!! DON'T DO THIS!!!"

The three were not in their right minds.

Upon seeing their new masters reduced to this state, Coran and Berith stood speechless. They were outside the range of the spell, and so it did not effect them since they were standing at the doorway to the room.

They did not know what to say or do, but Coran acted instinctively.

[Poison spit]

Coran hucked a ball of acid towards the goblin. Coran and Berith had been standing outside the room near the door, and thus were outside of the range of the fear attack. Just as Coran did this, the goblin struggled inside the choke hold to get out of the way, but this distraction gave Trevor the opportunity to grab an arrow from his quiver.

And he stabbed the goblin in the eye.

"AGH!!!"

Just as Fargar was stabbed in the eye, the ball of poison landed on his stomach, burning away at the leather armor he wore.

[Player Trevor Strength roll: 6]

[Fargar HP: 80/80]

Because of his damage resistance, Fargar had not taken any actual HP damage. However, the arrow stuck in his eye, and Fargar still felt the pain of the wound, despite the fact that he was not any closer to death.

He grabbed his eye, and just as he did this and tried to take the arrow out, a message appeared.

[Fargar has lost concentration. Panic effect has been canceled]

And just like that, the three who were on their knees freaking out were brought back to reality.

"What happened!?" Garett shouted

"How should I know!? Help me out here!", Trevor replied, while struggling to keep hold of Fargar.

Fargar threw the arrow after plucking it from his own eye, and once more cast a spell.

"I don't know how you avoided panicking... my aura of terror is supposed to be powerful enough to invoke even the bravest of opponents into grief... but you won't be able to defeat this..."

[Dominate foe]

Fargar was a monster with a relatively high magical ability, and thus was able to see the relative magnitudes of the magical aura's around each person.

And he had noticed that the aura for Ashley was excessively high.

"This spell works on anyone less intelligent than I, and puts the target under mind control! There is no way that girl is smarter than the great Fargar!!! AHAHA!!! She is strong!!! She is terribly strong!!! Yet she will become my puppet to control and slaughter you all with!!!!"

[Player Ashley: Intelligence roll: Needed: 60. Roll: 78]

[Fargar MP: 0/20]

[Dominate foe failed]

Fargar did not seem to realize that his spell failed. Ashley stood there with a blank face, and looked up to Fargar.

"I await your orders", she stated as if she were a drone.

It took everything Ashley could muster up to act so perfectly without freaking out, but she did so.

"Heh heh... that girl is now mine to control!! Kill these fools for going against me!!"

Ashley summoned a fireball and pretended to aim at Trevor's head.

Fargar positioned himself out of the way so that Ashley would have a clean shot at Trevor. Trevor pretended to struggle back, but instead allowed for the shift to occur so that Ashley would have an easy shot on him.

The fireball became the size of a fist, and then of a head. She let it go, however, the trajectory changed before she released it.

She aimed at Fargar's leg.

BOOM!

[Player Ashley: Intelligence roll: 42]

[Fargar HP: 48/80]

"AGHH!!!! WHY YOU!?!?! YOU STUPID MINION!!! ARE YOU SO UNSKILLED THAT YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO AIM PROPERLY!!!??"

"Oh, she knows how to aim.", Trevor whispered in the ear of Fargar, who had now fallen limp within the chokehold due to not having a leg to support himself.

Trevor then took another arrow and stabbed Fargar's arm with it, causing him to scream out in pain. Once more this did not do enough damage to actually bring Fargar closer to death, but he still felt the pain of the wound.

Ashley let another fireball go, at Fargar's other hand this time.

[Player Ashley: Intelligence roll: 28]

[Fargar HP: 30/80]

She grinned at Fargar sadistically.

"Ah... it feels good to attack a helpless opponent... how does it feel to be put in this pain? Does it feel good? No? Why not??? Hmm???? Did you not enjoy putting others in pain??? Did you not enjoy seeing the looks of terror on the faces of other???? HMMM???? I LOVE THE LOOK OF TERROR ON YOUR FACE RIGHT NOW!!! KEH HE HE HEH HE!!!!!"

Ashley began to laugh like a maniac, and Fargar stared at her with fury as he struggled within the arms of Trevor.

"Why you!? How did you escape my mind control!?!? Impossible! There is no way you could be more intelligent than I!!!"

Ashley grabbed a pair of pliers and a gag from the stand of torture tools, and Garett grabbed a saw from his toolbox to cut loose the goblin who was on the torture chair.

Trevor sat the limp Fargar down on the chair and Ashley tied him up, gagging him just as he had done to the others.

Holding the pliers and snapping them multiple times, Ashley smiled with delight.

"The fact that you failed to realize how intelligent I am.... how great I am... shows your own stupidity. Now, lets see that look of terror one more time..."
