As soon as Cliff's eyes closed he felt as if he was free-falling and spinning around at an inconsistent rate. His vision went completely blank and he felt as if burning insects were vibrating through his entire body. The sensation seemed to send his pain receptors into turmoil and he could feel every part of his body being shocked: from the ends of the hair on his head all the way to underneath and on top of his fingernails. It was so extremely painful that Cliff wanted to throw-up, yet couldn't. He didn't have time to think about what was happening, the only thing his brain was letting him comprehend was that he was in danger and needed to move. Eventually he realized anything that he could do would amount to fuck all against whatever this force was. He felt his consciousness start to wade and he passed out.
When Cliff awoke he was disoriented, to say the least. Not only did his body still feel sensitive from the immense pain he was starting to remember, but he felt he had been unconscious for a long time. He felt that maybe he had been unconscious for multiple days from how his head was feeling. There wasn't much light from what he could tell, but the light he was able to see stung his brain in a way that he had never felt before. It felt like his brain was trying to escape from his temple and eyes.
Cliff didn't know what to do, so he cried. He started to cry and scream. He blindly crawled around until ramming into a wall and huddled up to it. He cried and screamed profanities until his voice was too hoarse to continue. Eventually, he passed out from exhaustion.
When Cliff woke back up, he was much more sound. Still very shaken, but not as hysterical.
He sat up against the wall that he had previously passed out on.
'That... that was complete Hell...' Cliff thought listlessly. 'Also, I'm damn thirsty!'
'This is no dream. Dreams don't feel like that. So, where is this?'
First, Cliff looked at his torso and saw that he was wearing a very loose-fitting, brown cloak. Then he looked to his arms and legs and saw that he had gauze tightly wrapped them. Startled, he starts to undo the wraps around his arms, revealing his hand completely baren of any wounds or scars.
'Huh, why would someone do that? Wrapping someone with no wounds...'
Confused, he realized that his eyesight is fine and surveys the surroundings a bit more.
'It seems like a cavern? Maybe a carving into the edge of a mountain...' There was minimal light, if any, but he was able to see that he was in a rocky cave with hue's of green and brown interspersed everywhere. He also noticed that it had no support beams. 'Nah. This can't be man-made if there aren't any support beams. This' some crazy natural landscape.' Cliff started to drift into a daze just admiring the natural beauty of the cave he was in. He tried to stand up for the first time in what has seemed to him like quite a while, and failed miserably.
'...' Cliff lied back down.
'I guess not moving for so long will do this to you, huh? Where am I right now anyways? If someone kidnaped me, which is already impossible to believe, then why drop me here? If that's the case then why would my body feel like this? Maybe a drug would do that, but I've never heard of human-traffickers using a drug that's that painful...' Cliff's mind started to race.
Enjoying this book? Seek out the original to ensure the author gets credit.
'...reincarnation..? No way. That would be way too... Not to mention no deity or goddess around whatsoever. I refuse to believe something like that until a harem of big sister dragons come and swoop me from this cave...' Cliff thought while sending a silent prayer.
'I guess that was too much of an ask...' Cliff sighed in the now, dimly lit cave.
'Wait, is it brighter in here?' Cliff glanced around until eventually his eyes led up to the walls and ceiling.
What he saw made him genuinely "ooh" for the first time from a scenery. The top of the cave was sprawled with blue, purple, and yellow dots and splotches of iridescent light that came from the rocks themselves that seemed to be getting brighter. The rocks lit up the ground at his feet with a sort-of moonlight devoid of any darkness. It made him realize that there were small plants just beginning to sprout as well as small, jet-black flowers in the shape of four-sided stars. He could count all 7 of the ones in his sight easily. There seemed to be small spirals of shadow warping around them as they took in all the light they could.
'I'll say it again, where exactly am I..?' Cliff thought, wonderstruck.
His eyes drifted down to the ground, where he saw a him-sized indentation and a dull looking book. The book was by far the most dull thing that Cliff could see in his vicinity, but his complete focus was now on that book.
'Is that... My cheat item!'
'Ok, ok, let's not get ahead of ourselves here. This still might not be what I think it is. Maybe I'm just somewhere where these sorts of things happen?' Cliff thought, as he looked back at the jet-black flowers doubting even his own words.
'Nonetheless, that book is something. I have to at least open it up and take a look.' He grabbed the book expectantly, a desperateness in his actions.
He flipped it over and read "Cliff's Diary... Huh! What kinda sick fucking joke are you playing!" He started shouting.
'I know I keep a journal, but is someone really doing this all to make fun of me?! I've never even kept a book like this one...' Cliff's angry thoughts had drifted away as he started to investigate the outside of the book more thoroughly.
He felt around the red-brown cover and his initial thoughts were that it felt kind of worn. The letters were embroidered into the stiff yet flexible, faux-leather cover that read out "Cliff's Diary" in large italic, black letters that took up over half of the front side. 'Really...' Cliff started to lament again. He felt up the outside of the spine and felt the black embroidery of a vine on his fingertips.
'It's kind of bland but I actually like it... well except for the name...'
He opened it up from the front cover and it read:

'Huh? What does this mean? Bound to my being? That sounds pretty ominous... am I not going to know what any of this means?' Cliff continued onto the next page.

Day 1.
Dear Diary,
Today I cried *T-T* I cried and screamed until my voice went hoarse. I wailed until I hit a wall and then cried and screamed some more.
I passed out from exhaustion shortly after - _- If a starshade flower saw any light in me it would have sucked me dry right away!!
I guess I'm kind of lucky, hehe~<3
