Kingdom of Living II - Part 2

Kingdom of Living II - Part 2

***

When the plane lands, several fighters get off. There, they see a group of military men facing zombies who have entered the airport's perimeter. The whole group of fifty fighters from the two planes aren't going to help the soldiers. They walk toward the airport building gates, where they have to gear up with special equipment from the inside, including grenades, grenade launchers, rocket launchers, miniguns, and any other gear sent to the specialized fighters.

Upon entering the airport building, a group of zombies runs toward them. The fighters from the first line proceed to shoot. The person in the front is Somachi, who, after he has emptied his assault rifle magazine, takes it off and puts a new one in. As he is reloading, he tells his 49 comrades in arms.

"No point in fighting melee. Just be careful not to shoot each other."

"Some are coming from the back!" says a female fighter, pointing at a zombie who runs from a bathroom toward them.

Ahmed takes off his hand and shoots that zombie in the face, who is falling with his face on the slippery floor with blood.

"Got him," says Ahmed to that fighter.

"Move it," says Somachi to the group. We are going in turtle formation. Eight people in the front shoot. The other eight shoot the back. Eight to the left. Eight to the right. Understand?"

"Sir, yes! Sir!" yells the fighter to his commander, Somachi.

The whole group of fifty fighters goes slowly to the upper floor, where the unique gadgets await them. To get there, the group of fifty fighters walked in line through the escalators while shooting zombies from the upper floor. At the same time, some jumped toward them from the broken rooftop, but none of them were able to pin a fighter because of shotgun blasts that were able to send them flying a bit and land on the floors with corpses. Unfortunately, a class F zombie arrives on the scene.

"Holy shit!" yells a guy from the back of the group seeing a Class F zombie coming through the walls of what used to be a store. "Class F!"

"Shoot it!" yells Somachi to his people.

About ten fighters aimed their guns at that zombie, pulling the trigger of their weapons and sending bullets to that dangerous zombie, who quickly fell on his knees and stomach and laid face on the bloody floor with bodies and organs. The group continued running toward the zone where the special equipment was getting closer to each step they took.

After about three minutes, the group arrives and sees many crates lying in what used to be an office where the person in charge of this airport would live. Somachi sees that the door is locked. He takes his double-barrel shotgun and starts blasting the hinges. Then, he kicks the door and watches as it falls inside the room near a crate twith"Frag Grenades."

"Holy shit," says Li Kay to Ri Ku. "There's a lot."

"Sure is, "Ahmedwalkingg with the other two fighters in the room, looking through a crate containing smoke grenades. And we also have smoke grenades." He looks at Somachi. "Commander, do smoke grenades still work on zombies?"

"Only on ordinary zombies," says Somachi.

If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.

"Good," says Ahmed, putting three smoke grenades on his belt.

Smoke grenades have been used in several cases during the apocalypse to disorient the individuals infected with the Z virus. One smoke grenade made the zombies stop moving and look around confused. This gadget is handy for crowds of zombies, especially on hordes, but these fighters are only equipped with these in missions like this to recapture outposts or clean a city. It isn't fair, but this is what the organization has done to avoid using the entire stock of smoke grenades.

All the fighters are taking with them smoke grenades, frag grenades, gas grenades, and pipe bombs. At the same time, the ones who can be trusted with heavy weapons have taken miniguns and grenade launchers. Somachi ordered his people not to touch the rocket launchers since using them in a large group like this would be dangerous.

After the preparation is complete, fifty fighters leave the airport and run toward the golf course. As they leave the airport, they are greeted by a few zombies jumping from the rooftop. Two zombies pin one fighter to the ground. Thankfully, these two zombies couldn't bite due to the metallic armor and the forty-nine fighters, who all opened fire immediately on the zombies. However, one stray bullet hits the poor fighter's shoulder.

"Argh! I'm hit!" says the fighter, lying down with his other hand covering the wound.

"Shit!" yells a fighter; he looks back at the other fighters. "I'll take care of Tom. You people go without me!"

"I'm also coming," says another fighter. They are both walking to aid Tom and show him the insides of the airport.

"Listen up!" yells Somachi, sounding angry. "No more shooting recklessly. We need people alive. Not wounded. Now, move up! Z's are coming!"

The squad of now forty-seven fighters are marching at a slow pace, killing any zombie that comes in their way. One of the fighters spotted a jumper who jumped over a car and almost landed on them, but a fighter managed to hit him in the air with a metallic baseball bat and sent this light corpse of meat into a car, going through the window. The zombie was still moving, but he couldn't free himself from there due to the sharp parts of the broken mirror going through its body. The fighters leave the zombie there and continue their way.

The group walks for a while and arrives in front of a blockage that stops their walk to that golf course. The blockage is half a plane that was extinguished a long ago, with a few zombies tied to their chairs, malnourished but moving like a human who eats constantly on their chairs. There are countless corpses on the roads, on the top of cars, in the vehicles on the rooftops of buildings, and somebodies of soldiers who have been there from the first day of the apocalypse in Thailand.

"How are we supposed to go through there?" asks Li Kay.

"There," says Somachi, pointing at a building that used to be a transport office. We go inside, and we'll see where we're going next."

Many fighters did not say a thing; they followed Somachi's orders, walked inside this supposed abandoned palace, and faced a zombie, but they killed it immediately. While walking through this building, they've seen a lot of disasters around them, yellow papers on the floors, blood on the walls, a head of a human in the state of decomposing on the counter, a few severed zombie bodies.

"Whoever was in here sure worked hard," says Li Kay.

"Move it!" yells Somachi after he kicks the door and leaves the building.

The big group of fighters are marching to the left, passing several buildings and the tail of the ruins from that plane. They encountered two class F zombies, but these two were quickly put down by twelve fighters who opened fire on them.

"Good job!" praise Somachi to his fighters.

Then, out of nowhere, an explosion is heard coming from the airport. All the fighters looked back and saw the building they had left going into flames. Some ffighters lookedshocked at this, while oothers looked isworried, but Somachi told them.

"Shit! Leave them! We need to focus on the mission!"

"What about Tom, Gerry, and Randy?" asks a female fighter.

"There's nothing we can do. All to do is pray. We need to focus on our task."

Somachi and the remaining fighters are marching forward, ignoring the explosion and the flame that continues to rise. They have no idea how this happened and if their comrades in arms that went there are safe. The soldiers are still outside the airport, killing the zombies that come from the golf course who were inside the outpost in the golf course. Now, you see why the fighters didn't go straight to the golf course rather thantakeg a turn? It's because the soldiers act as bait to attract as many zombies from there as possible to ease the fighters' mission.
