It was a fine day to be alive, as much as any other day down in the orphanage.
Herald walked down one of many hallways in the orphanage, wandering around as usual. He passes by one of many empty halls, only to hear the faint sounds of pleading coming from an open door. The 13-year-old stops, considering if he should look in on what was happening. A grunt of pain then emanates from the door, the young teen turning to face the hall, checking his sheet as he goes.

A person's status sheet unlocked at age ten, and they got a level a year until they were 16, at which point they could get experience freely from any multiple of options. Herald couldn't wait for that day, even if it meant getting kicked out of the orphanage. Thankfully, there were many options for work in the slums, meaning that it would be quite easy to find a job and earn at least some money and experience. Any work that would gain a person experience would be banked if done by someone under 16, so they can level past 6 when they get to that point, if they started working early.

Shaking his head out of his musings, Herald peeks in the door, seeing Julius, the orphanage bully, kicking another kid that he seen around that always reading a book, one such example lays on the floor, face down. Herald's eye twitches, then slowly sneaks up behind the bully. He waits until Julius winds up another kick, hitting the back of his knee. This brings the taller teen down to the ground, and Herald follows it up with a stomp to his stomach, dealing 17 damage to him, leaving the bully reeling, and writhing from the unexpected pain. "Fucking, Gods damn it! You better watch your fucking back, Yomi!" The bully threatens as Herald picks up the book with one hand, then quickly grabs the bookish teen's arm, pulling him to his feet and rushing out of the room with him in tow. Herald quickly runs down the hall to find a random abandoned room, pulling the confused and dazed teen inside one and closing the door, the window in the room providing all the needed light.
Herald finally inspects the other kid, reading his name, level and how much damage he took.
Name: Kelern Eaner
Level: 3
Health: 89/100
Kelern finally reacts, reading Herald's name in turn. "Th-thanks Yomi. I don't know how long of a b-beating Julius would have given me. Why help me th-though?"
"Don't call me Yomi, please. I like Herald more. And as for why? I hate Julius and would rather be beat than let others be beat. I'll take any chance to fuck with him, really." Herald shrugs, handing Kelern his book. "And this is Julius's last day here. He's turning 16 tomorrow. I think he would have beat you within a point of your health as a last hurrah." Herald finally looks at the notification flashing in the corner of his vision, tired of the minor annoyance.
Stomp: 10 Stamina, Cooldown: 10 seconds
Stomp on an enemy, dealing 16-20 damage and stun them for 2 seconds.
"Hah! Got an ability out of that. Must have really hurt that fucker." Herald says with a grin, obviously happy about this new ability. Kelern looks at his book, thinking for a second, speaking up. "H-Hey, want to be friends?" Herald waves away the notification, smiling at him. "Sure thing! I don't have many friends. I'm always glad to make more!"
Kelern nods, smiling back at the smaller kid. "S-Same here. I haven't made many f-friends either. Reading books doesn't lend itself to friend making, really." The nerdy teen looks at the book, sighing with relief. "And the book is undamaged. Th-That's good. I hate returning b-books that are damaged."
Herald nods, understanding why. "Some sort of debt if you do, right? Probably half of the library's revenue. Well, let’s go to the mess hall! It's nearly dinner time." He says with a smile, opening the door for Kelern. Kelern exits the room, Herald leading him to the mess hall to eat.
