Memories (1)

It's always so stuffy and moist in here. The floor is already cold, why does it have to bet wet, too? And it's all so boring! Everything is gray. The cobblestone floor, the wall, the ceiling, just everything. Okay, not the bars, they're black. There's just so little space, I can't even run around. My only visitors are cockroaches, ants and the "trainer". What should that even mean? All he does is hurt me. Even the cockroaches are more beautiful than him.

Drop.

And that sound! It's there all day, every day! Drop. Drop. Drop. There's always a water droplet coming down from the ceiling, in the same spot, with the same pause in between. Everything is always the same! I don't even know how long I've been here. It all feels the same. It has to have been more than a season since I last was outside, right? So if I stay here any longer, winter is going to come, and I'll die. Maybe I can join up with my family then. Maybe not, I don't even know what they look like. Ughh. My feet hurt. My arms hurt. My chest hurt. Why does everything hurt so much? When they said they were going to take me in, I didn't think this was what they meant. "We're going to make you special." Yeah, sure. I'm pretty special staying in this basement all day. Oh, and I bet most people don't caugh up blood. At least I didn't before I came here. But, oh well, maybe not even that is special. From what I've seen for short moments, it looks like there is a lot of other kids here as well. If they would at least let us play with each other and be friends. Friends. At least I think that's how you make friends, isn't it? I will probably never find that out if I'm going to die in this basement. There's no one I can ask either. Actually, I could ask the "trainer", but I'm pretty sure he doesn't have any friends. If he does, I still don't think they're the kind of friends im looking for. Maybe he found some because he can do those sparkling tricks when he hits something. Maybe he is actually nice if you know him longer, he at least seems a lot less scary to me since I first met him. But maybe that's just because I don't really care anymore, since it's always the same. Ughh.

Drop.

See? That's what I mean by boring. Since I started thinking about all that, the time between two drops passed. And that happens like 300 times a day, I think. What am I supposed to do with all this time? Even after sleeping, and eating the little food I get, and lying on the floor after the trainer comes, there's still like 170 drops left. Maybe I should just start trying to move my body in the few meters of space I have. Just to the wall… And back… And to the wall.. And back… Whew! This actually helps spend my time! I mean, my legs hurt even more, and I don't think I can take another step, but still! Is there anything else I can do without my legs? I could push my self up from the floor. And down.. And up.. And down.. Aaaand uuuup.. aaand. Thud. Okay, that's pretty exhausting if I'm being honest. It might not be a lot of time, but I can pass a few drops like this! Let's see… what else is there I could try? Yawn. I'm actually pretty sleepy right now, so I can think about it later.

Thud. Wheeze. Wheeze. This asshole! Since when do you wake up people with a kick?!

"It's training time, wake up you brat."

Even if I'm not afraid of him anymore, I really hate him. It always hurts so much when he kicks me with that electricity of his, like the hits go inside my body. Thud. Cough. There is the blood again. I bet next he's gonna.. yeah. He is lifting me up into the air at my hands. I'm always amazed by.. Thud. Cough. By how he lifts me up with just one hand. And now he'll probably do that palm strike of his again where all the sparks come flying out of my tummy. That one really hurts the most. Thud. Cough. Cough. And.. it's.. Cough. The one where the most blood comes out.

This might sound strange, but it actually feels kind of good lying here after I'm beat up. The drops seem to come much faster, and I'm so focussed and everything that's hurting that I can barely think, so I'm not bored. It's probably already been 30 drops since I was "trained", and right about now I'm becoming clear in my head again.

Meow.

Is that.. a cat? No, can't be. Maybe I'm still confused.

Meow.

No, that's not it. There diffently is a cat around here somewhere. Look, its comming around the corner. Okay, that's not a cat, but a kitten.

"C-Coome he-here l-l-litt-tle bu-u-udy"

I hate speaking like this. I can't even get a proper sentence out. Come on, I'm even stretching my hand out. I've never had a visitor like you. But now that I look at you… you're not doing that well yourself, huh? I get it, you're scared, but I won't harm you, okay?

Creek.

Of course. There is something interesting happening for once, and my food is brought to me in that exact moment, scaring away what little interesting action I have…
