“You have three crates of those, correct?” Rix scrolled through the inventory of the ship on his tablet.
“Yep.” I nodded. “Three. Two to go to Verner and one to go to Fist.”
He seemed to scroll through the list once more before being content and setting it down. “I think that’s everything. Are you heading out tonight?”
“Yeah. I was thinking I’d start out and then let EVO take over while I get some sleep since it’ll take a while. I should get there…”
“Late evening on Ferros tomorrow if you leave now, madam.” EVO answered.
“Late evening on Ferros tomorrow.” I smiled.
Rix shook his head. “I’m sure Fist’ll be happy to get the shipment. He’s been bothering me over it recently.” Rix chooses not to use the Trizrk’s preferred pronouns. Though that’s nothing particularly new to me, allowing me to blow past it.
“I know.” I laughed quietly. “Zi even contacted me over it. I guess Fist’ll never understand how hard it is to steal from the military.” I smiled again before pulling the ship’s door open. “Imma head out. Catch you on the flip side, boss.” I threw him a lopsided smile before saluting, crawling into the ship, and closing the door behind me. I plopped down in the driver’s seat, starting the ship up as I waited for Rix to pull the warehouse’s door open.
Can’t get caught if you fly fast enough; that’s what I always say. Nothing to do with the military-grade scrambler Rix installed on the ship. I glanced out the window to look at the colony below. Not the nicest colony, but one that doesn’t ask too many questions. One that makes Rix and my smuggling that much easier. Meaning it’s the best place for the warehouse of stolen military goods.
“Exiting atmosphere in five, four, three,” EVO began to count down, “two, one. You are now out of Hedron’s atmosphere, madam.”
“Cool beans.” I stood up from the chair, putting the ship in EVO’s control. “You’ve got the ship, EVO?” I walked over to the small bunk beds and sat down on the lower one.
“Yes, madam.” EVO spoke through the speakers on the ship. “We will arrive on Ferros in thirty-five hours and twenty-three minutes.”
“Thanks, EVO.” I pulled my boots off, sighing in relief. “Do I have any messages?”
“Negative. You have no messages other than the ones you have blocked from Fist.”
I nodded. “Any news?”
“Major Hackett is getting awarded another medal, madam.”
I shook my head. “Of course he is. Soon enough he’ll have so many he won’t be able to walk. I’m amazed that he hasn’t changed the gravitational pull with all those medals.” I ran my fingers through my hair. “I’m going to get some sleep; wake me up if you need me.”
“Yes, madam.”
I laid down, looking up at the bottom of the bunk. Of course he has another medal. Fucking spoiled brat.
----------------------------------------
I was woken up by an alarm in my head, no doubt EVO had a reason for it. Or, at least, he’d better. I groaned, rubbing the sleep out of my eyes. “What?” It came out a bit more grumpy than intended.
“It is time for your injection, madam.” EVO stated, causing me to sigh and sit up in the bed.
“Fuck. How much longer until we get there?”
“Twenty-eight hours and two minutes until we break the atmosphere on Ferros.”
“Great. Just enough time to recover.” I threw my legs over the side of the bed and got to my feet, before walking over to where I store the injections. I placed my thumb on the scanner before it opened with a broken air-seal hiss.
“You only hand four left.” EVO informed me, causing a twinge of anxiety. I always hated having to pick up my meds. As I have an official residence, I have to get my meds from less than reputable sources. Usually, if he’s free, Rix will help me out with it, but when he doesn’t…
I shook the thought out of my head and grabbed out one of the injections. “I should probably make some food first.” I muttered to myself, walking over to the shelf with my selection of delectable dinners. “Noodles it is.” I grabbed out the bowl and placed it under the hot water dispenser, making sure it started before walking to sit back down on the bed. I took the cap off the injection and stared down the needle for a moment, always hating the way it feels. “Count down, EVO.”
“Three, two-”
He was cut off as I stabbed myself with it, biting down on the pain. If the pain from the gnarly needle wasn’t enough, the medicine itself feels like ice in your veins. I took a few moments, breathing through the pain before finally feeling better. For now.
“Better eat before I end up passing out.” I glanced back over at my noddle dinner, admittedly not feeling like eating, but knowing I have to.
----------------------------------------
“Do you have it?” Fist crossed zi’s two beefy arms above his large belly. Fist is another Trizrk, but unlike Vorian, zi’s a Ukkrt. Fist’s kind are allegedly more prone to violence and illegal activities. I’m not saying I agree, but at the least, Fist doesn’t help this stereotype.
“No, I just lug around large crates with me usually.” I stood up straight, letting go of the handle on the crate. Most of us have language translators in one form or another, helping us communicate through different accents, languages, and slang. For me, EVO translates, which sometimes comes with a bit of sass.
“Lose the attitude, Eos.” Zi tilted zir’s chin up. Fist is one of the few Trizk I’ve met that seem to spend most of their time with humans, meaning zir’s picked up on many of our mannerisms. “Check the crate.” Zi nodded toward his men, who promptly opened it and began to check the guns.
“They're all here boss.” One of the humans stood up, closing the top of one of the other crates.
“Now, I just need the payment, and I'll be on my way.” I placed my hand on my hip.
“What's the rush, Eos?” Fist smirked, taking a step closer and grabbing my arm tightly.
“Well, I've actually got a schedule to keep.” I shrugged. “Maybe some other time, Fist, but I need to go now.”
“Madam.” EVO spoke up. “There is a man approaching the premises. Spectre Mallox. I suggest you leave before he arrests you.”
“Shit.” I cursed. “Fist. I need to go. Let go of my arm.”
Zi gripped on tighter as I tried to pull away. “You can’t keep putting me off, Eos. It’s starting to piss me off.”
“Madam. He will be here in less than thirty seconds.” EVO cautioned.
“Fuck.” I cursed again. I knew I didn’t have time to get away. Cops: no big deal. Spectre: big fucking deal. I was too late; the door was busted down, and in walked Mallox, the first human spectre. The legend. And pretty hot, I might add. If you’re into humans, this is.
“I thought we talked about this, Fist.” Mallox strolled into the building like he owned the damn place.
“Mal--Mallox. It's so great to see you.” A guilty smile grew on Fist’s face, zi’s sharp teeth shown off on full display.
“I can't say the same.” Mallox walked over to one of the crates, kicking the top off and inspecting the guns. “An arms deal, huh? Who's the girl?” He looked over at me.
“Eos.” I crossed my arms.
“Are you the courier?”
“I’m-”
I was interrupted by a loud crash as someone tried to run out of the room. Mallox pulled out his sidearm and shot the man, causing my eyes to widen.
Kinda happy he ran or else I might of got shot for my sarcastic comment that was coming. I silently sighed in relief.
“Fist.” Mallox turned to him. “Round up your men. Unless you want another one dead.” He turned his back to Fist, looking at the crates again. “I need a pick up at my location. Fifteen men.” He spoke, obviously to dispatch.
“EVO. What do I do?” I asked quietly.
“I would suggest following Spectre Mallox’s orders, madam.”
“Great…”
----------------------------------------
I sat in the chair in front of Mallox’s desk as he searched for some things on his computer. I rubbed my arm. “Do I get my one call?”
"No. You don't." He answered simply.
I sighed. “Then you're just going to toss me into a cell? Lock me up and throw away the key?”
"No, I won't. As long as you do as I say."
I crossed my arms over my chest. “And what is it that I have to do? Sleep with you?”
"That wasn't it." He narrowed his eyes, still not looking up at me.
“What is it then?” I rolled my eyes, glaring at the shelf of achievements behind him.
"I need you to act as a decoy." He leaned back in his chair.
“Decoy? What...do you need me to do?” I looked back down at him.
“That man you were making a deal with, you need to go to a meeting with his boss.”
I sighed. “How dangerous is it going to be?”
"Very. So you need to be careful."
“What am I going to have to do?” I looked up at him.
“There's already a meeting set up. You'll be sent there with an item. You’ll do as we instruct.”
I nodded slowly. “And if I end up dead?”
"Then I guess we'll find someone else." He shrugged, still not looking at me.
“Such certainty.” I scowled
“Stand up.” Mallox stood up and walked over to me. I did as instructed, looking up at him. Admiring his features. “You're going to stay in a cell here.”
“You have a cell in your private office?”
“I'm a Spectre. Yes. I do.” He started to walk down a hallway.
If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
“Are you going to just leave me alone in the building? What if I start choking or something?”
“Then I'll have to find a new decoy.” He stopped in front of a small cell. He really wasn't kidding.
I sighed. “Then I guess I'll try not to choke. Or maybe I will. Depends on how I feel tonight.”
“Stop talking and go in.” He motioned for me to go in. I did as he asked and he closed the clear door behind me. “I have some paperwork to do. I will be here for an hour or so more. If you're planning on choking, do it sooner rather than later.” He walked off saying nothing more.
“EVO.” I sighed and sat down on the beach. “Send Rix a message.”
“Done, madam. But he is off world and the message may not reach him in time.”
“It’s all we can do for now.”
----------------------------------------
I walked into the club, the clutch in my hand. The bag only held a small chunk of Element Zero. Rare, dangerous, pricey, and illegal. “Madam.” EVO spoke. “This club is a dead zone. You will not be able to contact Spectre Mallox.”
“So...I could just run?”
“I would not recommend it, madam.”
“Where am I going, EVO? I don’t know where the VIP room is.”
EVO pulled up a map, highlighting a small room towards the back of the club. I began to walk through the hoard of dancing people. Normally a place like this would be my kind of thing. A place to lose yourself for the night, get blackout drunk, dance until you can’t feel your legs, and wake up the next morning in some stranger's bed, VODs being the only reminder of the night before. Right now, it all felt different. Though Maddox really didn’t tell me how dangerous this was, I knew. I knew what kind of guy Fist was. Zi didn’t fuck around, zi’d kill any of zir’s men who stepped out of line. I could only imagine what zi’s boss would be like.
I stopped in front of a bouncer and looked up at him. Another Trizrk. Zi was at least five heads taller than me. “Lay off the steroids, big guy.” I cracked a smile.
“You here to meet the boss?” Zi didn’t show any reaction to my comment.
“Yep.” I nodded.
“Boss. There’s a girl out here. Silver hair. Blue eyes. Tattoos, piercings.” The man spoke into a small device in his ear.
“Let her in. Close the door behind you.” I could hear the boss’ voice come through.
The both of us followed the boss’ instructions. I walked into the private room, while the guard closed the door behind us. The Trizrk stood up from the booth. I was kind of glad to have never met him. Zi was a large one, likely even bigger than zir’s own guards. Zir’s face was severely scarred and the smile on zir’s face made me cringe slightly.
“Eos, I presume.” Zi stuck his hand out to me.
I placed my hand in zir’s and shook it. Zir’s hand was the better part of three times larger than mine. I wasn’t sure of the details of Mallox’s setup, but not having to pretend to be someone else did make it easier for me. “I never got your name, actually. Fist and the rest of your men only refer to you as boss.”
“No. It’s Boss. I’m Boss.” Zi smiled at me, zir’s smile less threatening now.
“Oh. Well, that makes more sense, I suppose. Unless you have all of your men, yourself, and their men in the same room, because then like everyone would be boss.”
Zi let out a hearty laugh. “I’ve heard a lot about you from Fist. What happened to zim? Seems I lost touch with zim after your shipment.” Zi paused for a moment. “This is a set up, isn’t it?”
“Yep.” I nodded. “But...by a Spectre.”
“Mallox, right? He’s been on my ass all these years.”
“Well, now that both of us know what’s going on, I want to make you a deal.”
“I like you girl. Alright, speak.”
“Well, if everything goes right for me, I’ll be back to smuggling in a few weeks. Unfortunately for you, Fist will probably not be active as soon as me. Why don’t you start buying directly from me? I can get you anything you need, without Fist getting in the way.”
“Sounds like a good deal to me, but I’d assume this means you’re going to let me get away.”
“It does. I’ll let you get away and not have to spend the rest of your life dealing with Mallox. Well, you still will have to, but at least you won’t be living in his cell.”
“You have yourself a deal.” Zi held his hand out.
I crossed my arms over my chest, not fully sure why I had the confidence to say this. “And I get to keep the Eezo. You keep your mouth shut about this if you get caught and I will do the same.”
Zi chuckled. “You’re smart for a human, Eos. Deal. The Eezo is all yours and I will be contacting Rix shortly. After this all settles down again.”
I shook zir’s hand with a smile. “You should get out of here. I’ll go tell Mallox that you ran in a few minutes.”
Zi pulled something out of zir’s pocket and handed it to me. “The keycard to this room. You can store the Eezo here and pick it back up.”
I took the key from zim as zi walked out the backdoor. I wasn’t sure if I really should trust zim. If zi knew the location, zi might try to take it, but at the same time, I didn’t have much choice. I picked up one of the cushions and stuffed the bag into the nook before sitting down. I should at least count to a hundred before telling Mallox.
----------------------------------------
I looked up at Mallox as he cooked something in the small kitchen. Honestly, it smelled great. “Why did you invite me to dinner?” I finally asked, breaking the silence.
He sighed and turned to face me. “I looked at your record, but...I had to do some digging to find your real one. Your dad-”
I held my hand up to stop him. “Don't talk about my dad. Who he is doesn't matter. If that's all you wanted, I want to leave.”
"I won't bring it up again. I was just a big surprise." He shook his head.
I crossed my arms and looked away. “Now that I did what you asked, do I get my call?”
"Alright, fine. Go ahead."
I stood up. “I’ll just step outside to do it.” I walked towards the door, but he grabbed onto my arm before I could even open it. I sighed.
“I know you're going to run.” He looked down at me sternly. His eyes bored into me.
“Yeah. I was. What's your point?”
"Use my comm." He motions towards the wall.
“Madam.” EVO spoke up. “Rix is still off world. He will not get your call.”
I sighed. “Actually, it seems that I have no one to call.”
"Are you sure?" He raised an eyebrow.
“Yeah.” I nodded weakly, walking back over to the chair I had been siting in.
"You know, if you get in too much trouble, your father won't be able to save you."
“My dad doesn't even know me. I wasn't calling my dad. I haven't even met him before.” I shook my head.
He made a noise, signaling he had heard me, but had nothing to say to it.
Eventually he finished cooking and took a seat across from me.
“So...for my first Spectre operation, how did I do?” I stabbed my fork into the vegetable before stuffing it into my mouth. It was…amazing. I’m aware there are food enhancers, even had the chance to try a few, but never like this. It’s amazing, nearly organismic. If food’s enough to get you off, that is.
“Well, I wish you hadn’t lost both my target and my Eezo.” He spoke flatly. I couldn’t help but let out a small laugh. “I’m glad it entertains you so much, but that was one expensive joke.”
I rubbed my arm with a half smile. “Sorry.”
He shook his head. “I shouldn’t have trusted you to get the job done.”
“Sorry.” I spoke a bit more sympathetically than my first attempt. “You know, Spectre, you're very hot.” I shot him my best shy smile, quickly looking down at my plate. I glanced up at him, to see if he took the bait. “So...am I staying here tonight?”
"Do you want to?" He raised an eyebrow.
“I...would like to, yeah.” I looked down again.
"Then stay, I'd enjoy it." He smirked back at me.
“Are you expecting repayment?” I tilted my head to the side innocently.
"Repayment? No. I don't expect anything."
“Would you like repayment?”
"Are you offering?" He leaned back in his seat slightly.
“If you want it.” I shrugged with a small smile.
"I won't say no." He smiled. “I have a question for you.” His voice shifted, from more playful to serious.
“Sure.” I shrugged.
“I heard your whole conversation with Fist. How often do you fuck men to fulfill Rix’s deal?”
“Like..four out of five times.” I smiled slightly, but when I could see Mallox wasn’t a fan, my smile faded. “That wasn’t a joke.”
“I should just arrest, Rix.” He shook his head.
“Not saying that I want you to, but...why don’t you? You’re a Spectre, you can do whatever you want.”
He shook his head. “It doesn’t matter. I need a shower before we continue. After we eat.”
----------------------------------------
I was currently sitting on Mallox’s bed, listening to his shower in the connected bathroom. He had been a good forty or so minutes. I was honestly worried he was going to be pruney by the time he was done. I had spent my time leisurely looking around his place, seeing if he had any sort of personality, but nope. None. None I could find, at least.
Finally, the water stopped and a few minutes later, Mallox came out wearing nothing but a towel. His body was lean and muscular. Handsome as far as humans go.
He walked over to the panel on the wall, pressing a few things, before the window shades opened, revealing the lit-up city. Along with the shades, the lights dimmed, and low music started playing. He was really setting the mood.
Mallox took his time walking over to me, I watched him with a small smile. As he finally made it over to me, he leaned down to kiss me, his tongue exploring my mouth while he pulled me closer so I could feel his hard bulge resting against me. His powerful hands held me, one on the back of my head, the other holding the curve of my hip.
“Strip.” He pulled back long enough to command me.
“No ‘please’?” I tilted my head to the side slightly.
“Nope.” He smiled slightly, nodding towards the bed. “Strip and get on it.”
I did as he asked, quickly stripping down out of my clothes, leaving them in a pile on the floor, before crawling onto the bed. Mallox walked to the edge of the bed and looked down at me, his eyes roaming over my body, lingering on certain features. After pausing a few moments to rake my body with his eyes, he crawled onto the bed and on top of me.
He knocked open my legs with his knees, leaving me fully exposed in front of him. One of his large hands was placed over my breast and squeezed roughly.
“So much for not wanting to fuck me.” I smirked up at him.
“I didn’t say I didn’t want to, technically.” He shrugged slightly, moving his hand from my breast and down the curve of my hip. His hand stopped, bracing himself as his other one began to tease my clit. “Can’t say you didn’t want it. Your body can’t lie.”
“Wasn’t planning to.” I arched my back as the sensation ran through me, causing me to push against his finger.
Mallox removed the towel, tossing it to the side. I could feel as he rubbed himself against my entrance. Without as much as a warning, he pushed himself inside as deep as he could go, causing me to catch my breath. He pulled back, moving his free hand to my other hip to brace me, and pushed forward again.
His groans grew louder as he continued on. He looked down at me with a smirk, one hand reaching forward to grab onto my breast, roughly kneading it. His other hand braced me as he forcefully rammed into me.
I rolled my head back, letting out a moan. “Fuck.”
Eventually, he began to slow down, grabbing onto both hips again to delve as deep as possible and before I could get off, he finished inside me.
Mallox pulled out and fell to myself, breathing heavily. He grabbed my arm and pulled me against him, kissing me sloppily before letting me go.
----------------------------------------
I looked over at the bed as Mallox still slept. I stood up and redressed quickly and quietly, before walking into the bathroom and smoothing my hair. On the bathroom counter was a nice, analog wrist watch. I picked it up, almost stuffing it in my pocket, but Mallox grabbed my arm, causing me to jump. “It's a reflex...sorry…”
"Don't make excuses. Just don't do it next time." He took it from me.
“I mean, I'm not going to be around you to do it to you again, but I'm going to do it again.” I shrugged with a slight smile.
"Yeah, I figured as much." He shook his head.
“So...last night…”
“What about it?” He raised an eyebrow, setting the watch back down.
“It was fun.” I smiled slightly.
"I'm glad you enjoyed it. I did too." He smiled back at me.
“I mean, how many people can say they've done that with the first human Spectre?”
"I’m not sure how many would have the balls to.” He wrapped his arms around my stomach, pulling me against his chest.
“Do I get my ship back now?”
“After breakfast. If I’m feeling like giving you up.” His teeth brushed against my skin as he smiled.
----------------------------------------
I pulled the latch to my ship and opened the door. I looked back at Mallox as I started up the stairs. “I guess this is goodbye.”
"Yep, I guess so." He nodded.
“Have fun with...being a hero.” I cracked a smile.
"Have fun doing the complete opposite."
“You going to come arrest me someday, so we can do this again?”
He laughed quietly. "I probably won't have to look too hard. You attract a lot of attention."
I rolled my eyes. “Usually I'm under the radar. This week was just a bad example.”
"I'm sure." He smiled
“It's true.” I crossed my arms. “Usually I don't get taken in by a Spectre.”
"Yet you still know how to constantly get in trouble."
“It comes with the turf.” I shrugged. “Well, I’ve got a ship to catch. See you later, Spectre.” I saluted him before walking into my ship and closing the door behind me, my smile fading. “I don’t ever get a break, do I EVO?”
