Prologue Part I “Those almost forgotten unforgettable memories”

PROLOGUE PART I

"THOSE ALMOST FORGOTTEN UNFORGETTABLE MEMORIES"

He knew how fucked life could be when one didn't expected it to be. The worst part of it? Knowing how devastating losing someone close to him was and, even with the unfair advantage of mentally preparing himself for the inminent lose of another one, all the rage an sadness accumulated during the week eroded little by little the apparent mask of "normality" that he so hard tried to maintain and believe.

But it was in that little moment, when he saw how she tried the almost finished wedding dress that she would wear on their wedding, that all those feelings couldn't be hidden anymore and flooded all his mind to the point of leaving him with no choice but to quickly leave the room with a poorly made excuse.

It was at that moment, when trying to stop all the tears coming from his face after leaning his back on the wall's hallway, that the man who would be adored by the future generations for his capacity to confront what it was believed to be impossible couldn't avoid feeling as broken as that little boy who all those years ago lost his only family and source of admiration.

The rays of the sun warning the arrival of a new day started to slowly bathe the entire forest and its surroundings in a warm light that the creatures welcomed with all types of chirps and roars letting the hooded man, whose eyes were slowly trying to open in spite of the complains that his still sleepy mind tried to make, ponder under the sleepiness the feasibility of going back to sleep under all the noises that surrounded him.

But the gained experience of so many failed attemps to sleep during all his years of walking around without any destination granted the hooded man the enough resolve to, at least,  leave his comfy sleep bag for the sake of fighting the dangerous enemy that the drowsinesss had proved to be over the years.

"Boo..."

But what would have been followed by some streches and warm ups was stopped by the slow and tired complain that the man's little fellow, trying and almost failling to stay balanced on the man's right shoulder, made to show his unhappiness with his current situation while looking with his scrunched eyes at the man's amused ones.

"You are awaken buddy?" the snort from the sleepy pig-mole made the hooded man's smile even more larger "Come on! If the cold it's the problem then maybe you need to do some exercise like me!"

Unbeknown to the hooded man, the prospect of leaving the sleeping place that the man's clothes provided to only get wet thanks to the dew and cold that still remained on the environment wasn't a very good motivator for the little pig-mole's nonexisten passion for excercise. This, accompained by the dizziness resulting of the effort made to stay on balance while the hooded man tried to start streching his legs, didn't stop him from making a another displeased sound at the mocking tone used by the man.

"BOOO...."

"It's that a yes? Are you really growing too old that only a bit of cold and wetness can't g-"

The pig-mole's answer at the man's taunts didn't wait and instantly licked the hooded man's face with his tongue, letting his wet and sticky spit on the man's skin and dark patch before jumping from the man's shoulder to the ground letting the astonished man behind him.

"Never mention your age " the man, a bit disgusted at the odour of the pig's spit but still amused at result of their almost affectionate rant, looked at the pig-mole crossing his little arms on the ground "Point taken"

"Bo!"

"If I prepare your favourite breakfast before the bath will you stop being angry at me for calling you old?" the man asked at the angry pig-mole who now tried to ponder the man's offer "And part of my meal goes to you!"

The hooded man only needed to see the starry eyes and salivating mouth of the pig-mole to know that he had won their little rant, even if he had to sacrifice a bit of his food to calm the mole's anger.

"Bo?!"

"Of course it would be detrimental to continue?"

The green eyes of the hologram, after looking at what had been just a few moments a beautiful wooden armchair that decorated the now  destroyed room, focused their gaze on the almost darkened face in front of him.

"I've been searching the remaining files we had on the central computer that operated his memories before passing him into the spaceship" the answer, repeated with a calm tone instead of the overly cheery one that he used to use, was meet with the same calm face that just a few moments ago destroyed the chair without moving from the stool of the window "And believe me when I tell you that it wasn't due to a lack of desire honey but, her case?, the new genetic structure and the damage that she has already suffered had made this more complicated for the little time and ways we could afford"

The words of the hologram were like a bucket of cold water that froze all the man's thoughts while the words of the hologram were repeated over and over like an echo on his mind. Of course the man already knew that it was something impossible but he couldn't bear see the only little way of saving here smashed into pieces.

Meanwhile, if the hologram noticed the desesperation on the man's visage he didn't showed it and only opted to stay quiet until the man could somehow calm himself.

"What should we do?"

The sudden question was met by a wink from the hologram "Well honey, from my part I would be so dissapointed if you didn't show her how big you have become around those areas after all this years of going around her like a satelite"

The innuendo didn't go unnoticed by the man, now trying to utter a coherent answer at the hologram while trying to somehow stop the blushing on his face. But the sudden seriousness on the previously hologram's amused semblance made him stop.

"Did you know that for a moment I thought that we would have lost you too?" the hologram dismissed the man's confused glance with a shrug "The fact that she and you were the ones who most suffered his loss wasn't that difficult to understand, even if the rudeness and viscerality that you both used to cope were not exactly to my liking"

"And when you came? Oh honey, it was actually something fabulous seeing the child that was behind him to go and show them that we could put our hopes and trusts on his small and manly back" even if the underlying seriousness was conveyed through the hologram's words the dreamy face and the cheery tone that he used unconciously provoked a small chill on the man's back "At that moment I could only smile when you made your manly comeback and showed them that you could become someone worth following"

"You don't understand? I trusted you back then and I will trust you right now" the hologram green eyes looked at the man's indigo ones "As an adult that is a far cry from that bitter and depresed child and as my leader that you will make the best lake that we could find"

The hooded man's mind and body, after nearly 40 years of waking nearly every day on the mundane but wild nature, had somehow gained the ability to do all that morning routine of waking up, save everything on his camping backpack, look for a near mountain where could find any source of water to bathe and clean his clothes, put a mark in the stone of said mountain and scribble it on his old map in an almost unconcious manner.

But this state, while working like a charm when a thought didn't stop haunting his mind, the man also had the drawback of making an eerie silence that the pig-mole, already accustomed to this, didn't usually mind and even enjoyed and calified as one of to those self-indulgent little moments of quietness hearing the little sounds that nature produced.

It wouldn,t be until they exited the cave up on the mountain and reached the river that the man, while bathing on the cold water, tried to talk about the cause of his recent unresponsive state to the the pig-mole lying on a rock next to him.

"Do you know that I had a dream about her?"

“$+:ó,!”

"It seems that your cutie pie has noticed your absence my dear" the hologram, now just an almost unnoticeable light green due to the lack of more energy on the device, remarked while looking at the man's face "And it works perfectly for me! I don't want to see my dress on a bridegroom with horrendous eyebags like yours honey"

"She already told how good went your shopping spree with all the team" the man, renembering the call that he received just a few days ago,  grinned "But how did you know all my measurements?"

At the man's inquiry, the now almost faded hologram passed his tongue over his lips "Honey, a man sometimes needs to zelaously guard those types of secrets!"

"Almost at the same time that the call ended she opened the door and I could only renember who beautiful she was" the man calmly continued under the scrutining glaze of the pig-mole "Even if her worried blue eyes with those pink flower shaped pupils were looking at the room that I destroyed"

"Did I wake you up?" the man's question directed her attention from the room to his face "I had to do a call and this was the best place in the house"

The incredilous look that she instantly directed at his words only served the man as a stark remainder that, while the passing of time and the effort to stay alive have mentally weakened her to the point of being sometimes almost unresponsive, her ability to read the people like an open book was as strong as ever.

And while they both knew that she had the right to being angry and ask for an explanation to the man's lies she only approached him until they were face to face and, taking the man by surprise, silently hugged him.

"The heat" the man, trying to dry off his greying wild dark blue hair,  answered to the little pig-mole's grunt "It was the only timer that we had. Do you know how I reacted when I noticed the abscence of it even when her arms where clearly hugging me? "

He could only stare.

Stare at her curly blue and pale blonde hair.

Stare at her almost white skin due to the moon's light.

He could only smell.

Smell the lavender fragance that she always used, even when she went to sleep.

He could only touch.

Touch while hugging back furiously, afraid of meeting only air .

And, under her cold embrace, he finally let all his emotions out.

All his anxiety, guilt and regrets in the form of a "I'm sorry" that he repeated over and over like a mantra.

All his grief  in the form of an uncontrollable sob  that ended moistening all her hair and clothes.

All his sorrow from knowing that, even when the thought of trying to go against life itself  has passed his mind over and over, he would never bring himself to do something that would only prove that he was as selfish as the Anti-Spirals or Lordgenome.

"S^m*@"

"Bo?"

Whose voice was that? Where he was?. He couldn't renember.

"Yeah, my dream ended there"

And he realised that he couldn't renember it anymore.

"Bo?"

That he was slowly forgetting everything.

"Yeah" the hooded replied to the little pig-mole on his shoulder "If we try to walk a little bit faster we would reach the Jiha Village by evening. Are you prepared?"

That maybe he could not fulfill the promises that he made to her.

"Bo!"

And that thought scared him the most.
