"Another life lived, another step closer. How many does that make it now?"
A voice echoed in the back of my head, it jolted me, forcing me up. When I opened my eyes it wasn't the same darkness I closed them in, but still, the nothingness was equally as suffocating.
"Although, you've started to learn things a lot quicker than when we began"
Again the voice spoke, this time it wasn't directly into my head, but instead I heard it with my ears, and as I did I was slowly able to make out a shape.
"See, you're already adapting to being outside of your world, but you're not ready yet. Now, you're close, after billions of steps you're finally at the door, you just need one last push."

"Who are you? Why am I here?"
My voice is dry, it burns to talk, I feel like I've gone months with out water and I can feel every word leaving my throat.
"You'll know when you're ready, you don't have to rush, we've been through this many times but you always seem to forget. I can't answer any of your questions yet, but I will tell you one thing, you're going to live a new life in a new world, one you've never lived before, but if you don't succeed this time, everything was for nothing"
At that moment, memories of my previous life wrangled my attention from the voice. Countries, mechanics, science, games and everything in between, my brain was being surged with information about Earth but nothing I was remembering had any personal connection. I had no memories of childhood, family or even my name.
"Why can't I remember anything about who I am?"
"Well, the point is figuring that out, moving on"
Ding!
