Salvaging failed pills

Salvaging failed pills

It was time to restart his cultivation. But first, he looked at the ‘failed’ pills made by Elder Qing. They were supposed to be 6-star Midheaven Qi Enhancement Pills, which would gather around 70,000 Qi a day for a week, had the pill been made perfectly. But, because the pills were incomplete and not proper, they do not add any Qi.

In fact, one of his rank could very easily get Qi-poisoning with these pills. Failures. Still, Elder Qing did tell him not to eat it, but he could experiment with it if he so desired.

He smiled. He wouldn’t be able to take a 6-star Midheaven Qi Pill anyway, his body would probably explode since his cultivation was so far behind. Back in his old world, there was a rule of pills no higher than two realms up. A 4-star can take a 6-star pill. A 2-star can take a 4-star pill.

He looked at the pills. He had easily 100 of them, all rejects. He took out some needles, and he circulated his Qi in them. Now that he’s a 2-star cultivator, his control and Qi is stronger, and he could do ‘stronger’ adjustments. In fact, as a 5-star cultivator, he could almost ‘reforge’ a pill, restoring a failed pill to at least 80% of its original intended strength.

He paused, and recalled the runes he read about. There are runes unique to this world, and clearly some runes from his world are also alien to this world. So, he should be more careful when using runes, especially those unrecognisable to the world.

But, back home, there’s a thing known as the ‘salvage’ rune. This was what he was going to use right now. He gently split his 100 failed pills into two piles. The first pile, he used his beastbone brush to write a ‘salvage’ rune in them. Each time he wrote the rune and activated it, the pill glowed and split itself up into its constituent components.

If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

This meant he could reuse the components, and so he stored them in small little boxes made of beast-bones in his room.

The second pile, he used a mortar and started to pound them into powder. Then, he added a little bit of water, and then used his Qi to split the components in the dissolved water. Again, he separated the components. With a bit of Qi, he pushed some of it out, such that the balance was right again.

Then he let the corrected solution stay for two weeks. The water would fully evaporate, leaving the corrected components all dried up in the mortar. It was not done yet. As it is, it’s still a 5-star solution, and taking it will kill him.

So, he had to dilute it even further. He went back to Elder Qing’s workshop, and the Elder was still busy at work.

“Ah, Mingwei, here to help again? I may need your assistance in a few more months to make another batch for the disciples!”

He nodded. “Alright. Elder... may I have some of that?” He pointed at a small bottle of Night Raven Oil.

“Oh? Why do you want it?”

“I’m... uh....”

Elder Qing examined him, and sniffed the air a little. “Hmm... It’s fine, take it.”

Mingwei nodded and quickly took it. He went back to his dried powder, and quickly dropped 2 drops into the mix, then he gently stirred it. The Night Raven Oil has a ‘downgrading’ quality, mostly used to handle or dissolve toxic or challenging materials, but when used on higher tier items, it would reduce its effects.

He stirred, and the powder changed in color to something bluish. He smiled. It was ready. He then took a small spoon, and formed it into a round pill. Out of so many, he had enough to make 20 pills.

20 4-star Diluted Midheaven Pills, which added 700 Qi a day for a week! That meant he had enough to push him through to 100,000 within 4 months! It wasn't great, though. Had he been able to use a proper 4-5 star Qi Cauldron, he'd able to properly dilutethe 6-star pilll, anad would be able to make a Perfect Dilution Midheaven Pill, which was 1,500 Qi a day.

Oh well. He stored most of it in his pouch. He would start using them as he cultivated.

Time to start cultivating!
