07: Water

"Being a Human is like being a Jack of all trades, we can have individuals that are big and strong like Orcs or Ogres, or small and sneaky like Elves, Some of us are blessed with magic aptitude others have Battle Auras. This does not mean that humans are in any way inferior to their Bipedal counterparts, but it does make our forces more disperse in terms of specialization and over all peak performance.

In the New World continent there are variants of almost every sentient race, and humans can mate with almost every single one of them. Some Scholars have argued that its because many millennia ago every sentient race evolved from the proto humans or "The First Men" as some like to call them

This evolution theory is yet to be confirmed and not widely accepted, but I consider it to the be the most accurate one. A Human can mate with an Ogre and create an Ogrekin, a Human can mate with an Elve and create a Half Elve, but and Elve and can not mate with an Ogre or Orc. Experiments have been made and the conclusion drawn is that Humans are the Base Seed of all the Sentient bipedal Races of this world. We can only keep researching"

Their Status reached "Extremely Dehydrated" and "Famished" before the sun reached its zenith. The fur sacks they where carrying became heavier with each step but they pressed on. The walk was harsh, but the slight downwards slope helped them slightly making it an easier burden to bare.

The cliff that was their shelter for the first two nights was nowhere to be seen for the past few hours, Jack walked under the shadow of a big tree and released his grip dropping the fur sack to the ground. sitting next to it they decided to make a pit stop. Brandon followed shortly and took a spot next to his brother, Bosco was not doing any better, his snout was drying out showing how he was not immune to basic necessities like water.

Brandon cursed his luck, he had a huge Headache and his lips where dry as cardboard, full of cracks and scabs, they bleed at first, but now his blood was so thick it coagulated very fast. Black bags under his eyes, he decided to close them and drift away to his dream world. He was unable to, his body sore and pained from the long hike he regretted carrying the Greenwood club with them. the thing was heavy and useless in his opinion, but it being the only mid range weapon he could have he preferred it to his pocket knife if they actually had to fight some monsters. It all boils down to pros and cons.

for the next 30 minutes they sat under the tree until Jack jumped to his feet and exclaimed "WATER!"

Abandoning the fur sacks they both rushed down the hill and in less than five minutes of running and with the troats dry as sand paper they reached a river. they did not care for boiling the water to rid it from microbes, the water was rushing down stream very fast yet it was transparent, of a very light Cyan color. Both brothers rushed to the bank of the river and submerged their heads in to the water and drank.

It was a gift from the gods, cold refreshing water, almost sweet tasting, but before he could drink himself full Jack pulled Brandon back out from the water.

"Don't drink to fast, you might get sick, we have to do it slowly" Brandon did not knew why, but his brother has been right every time since they came here, so he listened. With his thirst half quenched for now they walked back to where they abandoned their provisions.

Jack raised his first and ducked down hiding behind some underbrush while he scanned the tree they been sitting under a small bipedal creature was taring trough their belongings, it stuffed its face with the meat and picked up the stone spear, trusting in to the air as to test the tool, it discarded the weapon since it was to big for it to use it properly.

Jack made hand signs for Brandon and Bosco to follow them and they circled around the woods, getting closer to the tree trying to not get noticed by the creature.

At around 30 feet they separated, preparing a pincer attack on the beast.

They Humanoid did not see them coming in fact the first one to make it to the Creature was Bosco who bit It in the shin, It screamed with a high pitched voice and hit the dog two times in the head before Jack was able to grab the Greenwood club and rendered the Humanoid unconscious with a fast strike to the temple of the head.

Bosco released his maws and shook his head a few times to recover from the strikes.

The Humanoid was around 4 feet tall, It's skin color was a brownish green, a long and hooked nose protruded from it's face, long and sharp teeth composed his jaws, and it was skinny. it dressed in a lion cloth, but had a brown almost wood bark colored cloak. on top. a small iron dagger on its waist witch they took away immediately, they used some of the spare rope they had from the two days prior weapon making, and tied the Goblin down. They did not wanted to call it a goblin, boggart or any other fantasy like name because of the insanity implied, but it was the only right name for such creature. since it looked and behaved like one.

Revitalized Jack took two of the sacks now considerably lighter after the Goblin's raiding while Brandon fireman carried the tied down Goblin. they made it to the river before the Creature woke up.

Brandon dropped the thieve like a sack of potatoes on the river bank witch was composed of multiple kinds of rocks which where rounded out river pebbles. The Goblin woke up and groaned in pain only to realized his situation, he started screaming out of his longs, Brandon stroke him in the jaw with his fist and the Monster got the message and shut his pained mouth closed.

"Well then little thieve" Said Jack while taking out his boot Bayonet and his belt knife, both blades where shiny and sharp, they reflected the light of the sun.

"No please, I'm sorry, i did not meant to" the goblin pleaded on the verge of tears in a broken English

Brandon and Jack looked at each other confused

Not only the Goblin could speak, it spoke English.
