So basically, after this break of mine, I've been thinking about doing a rewrite of Twisted Garden. It's not a major divergence in what has happened, but more fleshing out elements which I feel were not given enough attention previously.
For example, a common complaint is Nimue's lack of screentime in Arc 1. I've been rereading my work and agree. I think the 2-month timeskip between Erika getting Nimue and participating in the first gym was a major oversight, and one which I can honestly admit was due to time pressure from school and the weekly deadlines. I'm not writing Twisted Garden for any other reason than wanting to make a good story, and I think a rewrite will definitely be beneficial for the story.
Part of the changes in the rewrite will be **exploring the 2-month timeskip** - essentially, slotting in more chapters between Erika getting Nimue and the gym fight. This was a big oversight on my part, and it undermines the story in my opinion. Exploring the events of the timeskip would be good.
The genuine version of this novel can be found on another site. Support the author by reading it there.
I also want to explore Mordred's relationship with Erika in greater detail, something I was forced to skip over due to time pressure from school. Other elements include quality of life changes, touching up the grammar and prose, etc.
The major parts which could be called a rewrite are mostly fleshing out the characters better, giving the characters more screentime and plot relevance, making the relationships and interactions more realistic and natural and not forced, adjusting the powerscaling, etc. There will be new elements in the rewrite, but it won't be a drastic change.
I also want to add in new arcs which I feel will be quite fun, and beneficial for the worldbuilding and story development, and clarify a lot of stuff.
There's a ton of other stuff I could talk about, but I'll save it for the rewrite.
Suffice to say, I am NOT changing the direction of the story drastically, merely fleshing out and improving what is already there.
I've grown a lot as an author since I started writing, and I wanna do TG justice, and this rewrite is part of the process of improving my work.
