Raj found himself in his engineering lab class, his heart heavy with anticipation. The clock ticking away mercilessly as he awaited the verdict on his train scheduled at 7:00PM , to Mumbai for his cousin's wedding. The tension was palpable, his fate hanging by a thread. At 4:00 PM, the final list of confirmed tickets was going to be revealed, leaving him suspended in a state of anxious anticipation.
As the lab class drew to a close at 3:40 PM, Raj rushed towards his bag, fingers trembling as he retrieved his phone and checked the ticket status website. Those fleeting 20 minutes felt like an eternity, each passing second amplifying the weight of impending disappointment. Despite the mounting stress, he faced a dilemma: attend his next lab class at 3:50 PM or succumb to the consuming anxiety gnawing at his insides. Reluctantly, he went into the classroom, his mind consumed by conflicting emotions.
At the stroke of 4:00 PM, the professor's arrival coincided with the revelation of Raj's ticket status: WL1. With a sinking heart, he realized that his ticket had not been confirmed. Stunned into disbelief, he rose from his seat, concocted a feeble excuse of sudden illness, and hastily left the class. His world unraveled before his eyes, dreams shattered in an instant. Retreating to the solitude of his room, he flung his bag onto the bed, grappling with the harsh reality of his predicament.
With no contingency plan in place, Raj found himself adrift in a sea of uncertainty. To compound his woes, a notification blared from his phone, reminding him of an impending task due within the hour. Fueled by anger and frustration, he brought up his laptop, fingers trembling with a volatile mix of emotions. Despite his best efforts, his mental turmoil manifested in a cascade of errors as he struggled to complete the task by 5:30 PM.
Livid with himself, Raj faced a race against time, with a mere 90 minutes to determine his fate. He had to make a choice, if he would be travelling in the train or will be fighting with regret lying on his bed tonight. With steely resolve, he hastily packed his belongings and ran towards the ATM, desperate to procure much-needed money. At 6:00 PM, he navigated the way to the college gate, only to be met with a throng of students bottlenecking the exit. Battling against the tide, he emerged at last, sprinting towards the railway station with a sense of urgency bordering on desperation.
Arriving at the station at 6:40 PM, Raj hurled himself towards the General Ticket Counter, securing a General ticket to Mumbai, with which he could only go into the general compartment till Mumbai which was 1700Kms away. Gasping for breath, he boarded the train, heart pounding with a heady mix of trepidation and determination. Despite his valiant efforts, the reality of his situation dawned upon him as he saw the train was packed to capacity, every seat occupied with no respite in sight.
Turning to the ticket collector with a plea in his eyes, Raj enquired about any empty seat in the whole train. Only to be met with a resolute denial. Undeterred, he inquired about the possibility of standing somewhere on the train, a glimmer of hope flickering amidst the darkness. TC Directed him towards S4 compartment and told to somehow go through the night, he stowed his belongings and resigned himself to an uncertain fate.

As the clock struck 10:00 PM, Raj found himself standing amidst the shadows of S4, the rhythmic chug of the train punctuating the silence. In the embrace of darkness, he embarked on a journey fraught with uncertainty, the echoes of his emotions reverberating through the night. Little did he know, his voyage to Mumbai would mark the beginning of an unforgettable chapter, a tale of love, pain, and the relentless pursuit of destiny.
After enduring a grueling 26-hour train journey,Raj finally reached Mumbai. His exhaustion palpable, took a taxi from station to Andheri and reached his destination at 22:00, a full day ahead of the moment when he had questioned his choices. He got off from the taxi and he could see his cousins sitting in groups in the basement of the Building. Took his luggage off from the cab and went towards them. The cousins were over the moon as they saw Raj after a long time. Few relatives were having dinner in the hall and few were already off to the shores of the city. After meeting everyone, Raj went to his room and eased off by taking a well deserved shower, the soothing cascade of water washing away the fatigue of his journey. Emerging refreshed, Raj joined his cousins in the hall for dinner, where animated conversation and laughter filled the air. He regaled them with tales of the trials and tribulations he had faced on his way, each anecdote punctuated by shared laughter and empathetic nods. Together, they laid out their plans for the days ahead, eager to make the most of their time in Mumbai.
It was late night and everyone was off to bed, Raj was the last to leave the hall. As he waited for the lift, the lift was taking a bit off a time to get down so Raj decided to take the stairs. He was tired as fuck so he held his head down and just started to run through the stairs till the 6th floor, where he was staying. As Raj ascended the stairs, his heart raced with anticipation to just lie down in bed , the rhythmic beat echoing in his chest. Each step seemed to carry him closer to destiny, unaware of the enchanting presence descending from above.
Meanwhile, Ahaana descended gracefully to her room on the 4th floor, her steps light as feathers, yet her thoughts weighed heavy with uncertainty. The gentle breeze teased her hair, strands dancing in the wind like whispered promises.
Their meeting was inevitable, a collision of fate orchestrated by the universe itself. And as they finally crossed paths, time seemed to stand still. His eyes met hers, a magnetic pull drawing them closer with every heartbeat.
The breeze, now a silent witness to their encounter, wrapped around them like a lover's embrace, carrying the scent of blossoms . In that fleeting moment, amidst the cascade of stairs and the soft caress of the wind, they collided.
Raj's weariness melted away in an instant as he laid eyes on Ahaana after two long years. On the other side, Ahaana felt a sudden twinge of pain as her toe collided with an unseen obstacle, a small price to pay for the overwhelming distraction of Raj's presence. Despite the throbbing ache and the warmth of blood trickling down her foot, she scarcely registered the injury, her attention completely consumed by the sight of Raj before her.
Raj and Ahaana were friends, they usually met at family gatherings since both their families have been together in every important phase of each others lives. Seeing blood coming out of her toe, Raj took Ahaana to her room and helped her out with the first aid. It was an awkward moment for both as they met after a long time and had been put up in a weird situation.
To make things light, Raj asked Ahaana about her life lately. She highlighted a few moments from the past 2 years and asked about what was up with Raj. To which Raj replied he’s been doing fine and talked about his college. Raj stood behind her head, as they exchanged updates on their lives.
After tending to her injured foot, Raj assisted Ahaana to her bed and inquired if she required anything further. Ahaana assured him that she was feeling much better now. Raj then took a moment to jot down his mobile number on a piece of paper and placed it beside her pillow, offering her reassurance that she could reach out to him for any assistance she might need. Raj's gesture of leaving his mobile number under her pillow spoke volumes, a silent offer of support and connection.
With the clock ticking past 2:00 AM, Raj bid Ahaana a good night and retreated to his room, which he shared with his cousin brother. Collapsing onto his bed, exhaustion quickly overtook him, and he slipped into a deep slumber without hesitation.
