It was a normal typical evening, The students of Oakwood High were starting to leave the premises after a long day of classes and activities.
For the preparation of the coming exam, a few students stayed back including Kelly, who was usually first to leave mostly due to her having to walk home alone.
Today she saw a few faces walking alongside her. “Aww! I missed my bus for staying late, now I have to walk bruh” bursted Sam in an annoyed tone. The group walked a few steps in complete silence until Melisa questioned “Aren't you the Student Council President, how do you reach school early by walking?” Felix. In an immediate response he replied “Well, I usually go with Sam over there by the bus.”
The lot continued the path for a while when they eventually split up carrying on towards their abode.
The rest of the day went like usual for them until during midnight, Kelly while being stray asleep on her bed clutching on her blanket suddenly got woken up. All dizzy she tried opening her eyes, a bright light filled her pupils “ugh, when did it become day” she muttered to herself. Fixing her posture she tried looking around herself; There was a Thick fog surrounding the view and wet grass beneath her. “Ha! It’s you from today’s evening;” A familiar face spoke to her. She fixed herself and went towards the person; she realised it was one of the students she had walked home today with.
“Where are we?” she questioned.
“I have no clue, I just opened my eyes and found myself here.” he replied and continued “well should we look for more people?”
“Yes, let’s do that, but the fog is very dense.” she answered anxiously.
Taking a few steps blindly, they encountered more of their schoolmates lying on the ground. Sam in just one look realised that the unconscious once were also in the cluster he had walked to home with. They tried waking them up one by one. Each of them had the same question on their lips "Where are we?" And every time, the answer was just as uncertain "We don’t know."
Sam announced to the anxious and confused crowd “My name is Sam; from what it looks like, none of us have any idea why we are here.”
Felix continued the dying conversation “Was everyone sleeping before we were basically teleported here? I am Felix by the way”
Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
“Me? Yes; I have my blanket with me, I am Kelly”
“Um, yes me too, I- I am Nathan”
“Wait so was I the only one awake? I was doing some work on my phone; I was about to call it a day when suddenly I fell unconscious and now I am here.” Melisa said anxiously. “I also have my phone with me.”
They soon got into making the phone work; In the clearing fog they walked around, the gadget gave no good response, it received no signal and the GPS was going haywire.
Felix took the lead in confronting the muddleheaded crowd by implying that they may be trapped in an island embraced by the sea.
“So we just need to locate the coast and wait for a rescue boat.”
Everyone agreed to traipse through the serried forest in hope to reach the envisioned coastline.
The walk, although silent in sounds, was not in thoughts, “How am I here.” was a common question lingering in the head of every person present in that situation.
Sam tried to keep making random conversations trying to forget the current situation. Kelly somehow found it reliving and entertained his small talk.
“So all five of us from the evening walk are randomly in this island, do you all think we were curesed by a witch or something on the way?”
“A witch you say huh! I believe this is just someones dream and we all somehow are a part of it.”
“Wow, I like your theory, so we should just sleep and boom we will be back in our bodies in the morning.”
Melisa gave out a giggle which made all of them laugh out.
The cheerful atmosphere didn't last long, the one hour walk took a huge toll on them. Still stuck in the forest made them more anxious them ever.
Nathan spoke his first words after his introduction “Guys, umm, don't you think its weird that we havent encountered any living being others then ourselves?”
This brought up a great terror in their minds.
“Maybe this island is just abandoned?”
“No, we would have at least encountered insects or birds.”
“F-food” Felix stuttered. “If we are really stuck in an island, won't we need food?”
“We have way too many unknowns, but I think we should prioritize shelther; If you look at the sky, there is no sun but you can tell its getting dark.”
Everybody confused with their own questions, each making complete sense, focused on Sam's idea for a shelter and the walk continued.
Coming to a conclusion that a small opening in a mountain with a strudy roof would be the best, They kept strolling while the sky kept getting darker.
“Guys! Guys! Look! A Cave!” Sam shouted on top of his lungs.
With faces of ease everyone came running towards him. With exhausted legs they ran towards it soon to be stopped with a huge uproar, a roar coming form a being lurking in the shadows with a build enormous enough to cover the cave and two bloodshot eyes fixed at them in an unsettling hunger.
