CHAPTER 7: THE DIFFERENT RACES

CHAPTER 7: THE DIFFERENT RACES

In the aftermath of the intense clash, Zee (the black meature known as Z). He had been silently observing and had a very surprised facial expression. The creature had been watching the entire fight, unable to communicate its thoughts but clearly affected by the unfolding events.

As the dust settled, the Truthseekers rushed to the fallen forms of Lelib and Ici, their concern palpable. The initial shock gave way to urgency as they assessed the condition of their leader and Ici.

Jason, fueled by anger, contemplated finishing Ici off to ensure there would be no further threat. However, to everyone's surprise, Ici, battered and damaged, shifted from a prone position to a sitting one. The unexpected movement sent a shiver through the group, with Jason particularly taken aback.

Yet, Ici remained silent, staring blankly ahead, seemingly lost in thought.

Lelib, despite his fatigue, struggled to his feet and motioned for the others to stay back. He approached Ici with a weariness that hinted at the toll of the battle. Extending a hand, Lelib offered assistance to his fallen adversary.

Lelib: (smiles) You're strong and with your strength and knowledge we can get further than ever. Join our crew. We're the Truthseekers. We seek to find the truth of this world.

Ici, his confusion evident, regarded Lelib with a mix of surprise and curiosity. Lelib, catching on to Ici's silent quest for truth, explained his own motivations.

Lelib: I understand you now. From the questions you asked me at the bar. To the ones you asked before our fight. You want to know the truth too. That's why you did this, right? We're not so different. If I’m going to be honest I really enjoyed our battle. I look forward to having another one with you, Ici.

Lelib emphasized his commitment to grow stronger, to delve deeper into the mysteries of their world. With a newfound understanding, Ici accepted Lelib's offered hand, albeit with a condition.

Ici: (chuckles a bit) Get stronger, and maybe, just maybe, I'll consider joining your crew. But for now, prove yourself. I'll keep an eye on you in the meantime.

With that, Ici departed, leaving the Truthseekers to digest the unexpected turn of events. The bonds of a potential alliance were forged on the common ground of seeking the truth.

Artemis: uhm guys so we’re not going to talk about the elephant in the room? He is a hybrid! I can not deal with that I’m sorry.

The others looked with a worried face.

Jack: Well since we know that you’re fine. I think it’s best for us to leave.

Jason: What. no it should be fine as long as he doesn’t transform right?

Lelib being very confused.

Lelib: What? What are you guys talking about.

Olleg looked with a very concerned face.

Olleg: look let me explain.

Olleg, taking a deep breath, began to unravel the truth about Lelib's transformation.

Olleg: Lelib, you’re not just a Himu. That transformation, it's not a typical ability. You have Zayar genetics. You're... a hybrid.

The revelation hung in the air, casting a shadow over the Truthseekers. Lelib's eyes widened, a mix of surprise and disbelief on his face.

Lelib: (bewildered) Hybrid? That’s impossible. I’m just Lelib. Always have been.

Artemis, already on edge, voiced her concerns.

Artemis: (anxiously) This is bad. Very bad. We can't be associated with a hybrid. It's against the law. We’ll be killed just for knowing him.

Lelib, absorbing the gravity of the situation, turned to Olleg for more clarification.

Lelib: (desperately) Olleg, explain everything. What does this mean?

Olleg, with a sense of urgency, continued his explanation.

Olleg: It means, Lelib, that you're in a very precarious position. The world government is ruthless when it comes to hybrids. If they find out...

Jack, interjecting, added his piece.

Jack: (serious) We can't afford to be dragged into this. As much as we respect you, Lelib, we need to think about our own survival.

Artemis: And of all the races he could be a hybrid of he’s a ZAYAR!? No sorry I can’t deal with this.

Lelib: Wait. I’m still not quite following this. I know you said that I’m a himu and all that but even when we saw Ici you guys said that he was an Azurean or something and now I’m a Zayar? What is all this about?

Olleg, sensing the confusion and urgency in the air, took a deep breath and decided to unravel the mysteries that shrouded Lelib.

Olleg: Lelib, sit down. I'll explain everything from the beginning.

Lelib, still bewildered, obliged, taking a seat amidst the rubble of his recent clash.

Olleg: Our world is divided into five continents: the Brown, the Blue, the Pink, the Green, and the Red. Each continent is home to a dominant race, and those races are as different as the continents they inhabit.

He began the history lesson with the Himu, inhabitants of the Brown Continent.

Olleg: The Himu, like us, are known for their resilience and adaptability. We, the inhabitants of the Brown Continent, are Himu. We are considered the weakest race. But also the most peaceful.

Next in line were the Azureans from the Blue Continent.

Olleg: Azureans, on the Blue Continent, are 10 times stronger than us himus. Their physical features include hair and eyes of blue hues. They are technologically the most advanced and the headquarters of the world government resides there.

Then came the Rosalites of the Pink Continent.

Olleg: Rosalites, dwelling in the Pink Continent, are known for their strong sense of culture and their strong connection to the world of kichy. They are physically half as strong as the Azureans.

Gaizrs, inhabitants of the Green Continent, were next.

Olleg: Gaizrs, living in the Green Continent. Not much is known about them. Legends say they are massive beings with a strong connection to the earth.

Finally, Olleg hesitated before speaking about the Zayar.

Olleg: Zayar, on the Red Continent, are considered the most powerful physically. They have a reputation for being violent and savage. Their physical prowess is unmatched. They are 10 times stronger than Azureans which makes them a whopping 100 times stronger than himus.

The gravity of the situation began to sink in as Olleg continued.

Olleg: Here's the thing, Lelib. These races, despite living on the same world, never mix. It's forbidden. The world government has strict laws against intermingling. They believe it disrupts the balance of the world. The punishment for such crimes is severe – death, for the parents and the child. Even those associated with them are not spared.

Artemis, Jack, Jason, and the others listened in stunned silence as Olleg laid bare the harsh reality of their world.

Olleg: Lelib, you being a hybrid, a mix of Himu and Zayar, is a crime in the eyes of the world government. If they find out, we're all in danger.

Lelib, his mind racing, couldn't fathom the consequences of his existence.

Lelib: (whispering) How do we...how do I fix this (smiles)?

He says jokingly. But everyone was still dead serious. Lelib, sensing the actual seriousness of the matter. Grappled with the newfound knowledge he weighed the consequences. The potential danger not just to him but to the entire crew was now apparent.

Lelib: (thoughtful) What do we do? How do we handle this?

Jason: Look I don’t really care man. As I said he can just not transform and we should be fine right. And to be honest I don’t even care if he does transform. He is our leader now and The way I see his determination, I believe we can get through this. We even have a potential “Ici” on our side. How cool is that.

Jack: Oh now you’re buddies with him? Didn’t that fool call you an oxygen consumer.

Artemis: Just wait Jack soon he’ll sit on the lap of Lelib and Ici, kissing their feet for protection.

Jason: Ha ha… Look I don’t care man I’ll stick with my buddy Lelib. Are you with me Olleg?

Olleg, despite growing weary, still decided to stick with Lelib.

Olleg: Yeah I just can’t abandon Lelib like this, not after all he did for us.

Jack thinking of all the times Lelib saved him to even just now with the Byhon.

Jack: Okay, let me think about this. We're already in the deep end. If we leave Lelib now, we're still guilty by association. The government knows that we know each other. They know it through the bounty house they won't care whether we stayed or left after learning the truth. We're involved.

Artemis: So, what’s your point?

Jack: (calmly) My point is, if we're in this mess anyway, we might as well stick together. At least we know Lelib's got some powerful allies now. And yeah they don’t know this yet and they might never know.

Jason, ever the optimist, chimed in.

Jason: (smiling) See, Jack gets it. We're a team, right?

Artemis, though still visibly uneasy, reluctantly nodded.

Artemis: (reluctantly) Yeah, we're a team. But this better not blow up in our faces.

Jack: I apologize Leli-

Lelib: don’t sweat it! You’re lives are on the line so I get where you guys are coming from. I’m just even happier that you guys choose to stay with me. But let us be one strong and bonded group from now on. No set backs anymore we will stick together through the end!

Lelib lifts his index finger as the rest follow shortly.

The rest: YEAH!

Jason: Oh and by the way. Remember the talk we had back in the kitchen. I think its best for us to have our little camp fire and get to really know each other’s past.

Lelib: (smiles) Yeah that sounds good.

Artemis trying to get Lelib’s clothes off.

Artemis: Let me fix these clothes troubled man and I’ll wash them afterwards.

Lelib: ouch! That hurts! You forgot the battle I just had!

The rest laughs,

Jason: (I’m Happy everything’s back to normal)
