Greetings, readers. Peregrin here.
I took a few weeks off to prepare for my exams, as you already know. I’m glad to announce I scaled through. Now that it’s settled, it’s time for me to refocus on writing this story.
You see, I understand my story has not been doing super well, compared to other newly published stories, and this several weeks long hiatus has made things worse. The first month of a story is crucial in deciding how far it would go, and it’s a pity I have wasted it.
I love this story. It has been living in my head for a long time, developing every moment. Scenes and plot points far in the future and past of the storyline float around in my head.
While I write for myself, I would be lying if I said I didn’t want some measure of success along the way. I appreciate you guys who take the time to read my stuff, but I still want more!
It’s impossible to get the first month back and redo the things I might have done wrong, but I can still make changes now, hoping to make a comeback. I admit I might have misunderstood the audience here on RR a bit too much. It’s time to rectify that, or at least attempt to.
I’m making this announcement to inform you, my current readers, of the changes I will be making.
Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
- Firstly, there won’t be a major change in plot or content. I’m only changing my story’s presentation to reach a wider audience.
- The Wanderer chapter and Prologue seem to keep away potential readers, so I will take a step back. The Wanderer chapter and the [Warring World] part of the Prologue will be taken down from Royal Road. Don’t worry if you like them. They’re still a part of the story and will be available on my Patreon whenever I launch it. Only the [Living Land] part of the Prologue will remain as the Prologue for now, and even that might have to go if I later find that it’s keeping readers away.
- The chapters seem to be unnecessarily long. I’ve received feedback that some chapters seem like two chapters stitched together, making for a tiring reading experience. From my observation, apart from the fact that long chapters exhaust the average reader, they also make me post less frequently, reducing True War’s visibility. With all these valid points, I can’t find a good reason to keep my chapter length. Each chapter will now be between 1500 and 2500 words. Current chapters will also be split accordingly. Sorry for any inconveniences.
- To compensate for the reduced chapter length and also improve my visibility, I will also change my posting schedule. From now on, I will upload new chapters every working day, from Monday to Friday. This ensures that the weekly word count remains about the same as the previous word count.
- Lastly, I will change the cover to something that is (hopefully) more attractive.
All these changes go live today. Now, we just need to sit back and see if this new strategy will be effective. And even if nothing changes, I’ll try to continue the story even if I start another one. Giving up would contradict the theme of the story now, wouldn’t it?
