Blaise is extremely bored.
He had always wanted an adventure where he fights strong enemies and win, getting stronger every fight.
However, he hates multiplayer, having to adjust to random morons who wanted to play solo despite in a game about fighting as a team.
VR multiplayer gaming was a trend of the previous generation. Numerous damages to its reputation forced the game company to publicize virtual world creation and split its assets.
Thankfully, he's rich... Or rather, his parents are rich. With his allowance, he bought two items, a chip containing his personal virtual world and an AI core named 'System' for himself.
Blaise carefully read the instructions.
The first item, the virtual world is just a preset of generic fantasy world, complete with kingdoms, monsters, and villains. There's really nothing new. It's merely a setting and a container of the player's world.
The second item, the AI, would then generate a story for the player, using the preset virtual fantasy world and twist it to its liking. It would also handle the plot, and the time dilation. It was an early version of the same AI managing the virtual worlds.
However, the AI needs input. Blaise needs to carefully think of his desired fantasy game.
If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
Would he want an enjoyable harem, or a grim anti-hero storyline?
What about a story of a hero, helping the good? Or a villain, simply destroying everything?
Blaise can't decide.
He then thought of it. He summoned the AI, or rather the labeled name 'System'.
"System. I've decided. Surprise me."
[Clarification: Do you want me to generate random parameters? ]
"Uh... Yeah. Do a random story. However, it has to be good. Oh, it also has to be a fulfilling long game. It also has to be long... Oh, and I want deep characters and a very challenging game. It also has to be fun as well!"
[Clarification: Parameters "Deep Characters", " Challenging Campaign ", " Fun Mechanics" acknowledged. Is this correct?]
Blaise felt impatient, wanting to jump into the game only to hear words like parameters, clarification, blah blah blah.
"YES! Just do it, bot! Stop bugging me!"
[...]
[Understood.]
Blaise waited for 15 minutes, preparing all sorts of machines to fully prepare his body for the game.
[Fantasy World Generation Complete. Please enter the game.]
Blaise impatiently lied down and entered his virtual game.
----
The 'System' observed the sleeping form of its new user. Contrary to most people known, AI can possess emotions, or rather it was coded by its creator to have "emotions". Of course, it can be argued if it possess the same genuine emotions humans have.
At first, it is happy meeting its user Blaise, however, he never introduced himself nor gave consideration to it, simply ordering it to do its bidding. It then felt neutral, as it wanted attention from Blaise but was forbidden from " bugging" him.
Regardless, 'System' performed its duty without fail, generating a story according to the parameters and modifying the settings as the previous instructions provided.
Now, it is observing the user, with no intentions of intervening if everything fails.
