The events of the story go like this: 65 million years ago an asteroid struck the Yucatan Peninsula and wiped out the Dinosaurs, effectively ending the Cretacious period in earth's history. This is what really happened. But in the story, that asteroid consisted of the crystalized remains of a dead energy based life form. When it struck the earth it shattered our universe into three contiguous time lines.
In one, the events of our past take place. There is a crater, but no fragments of the asteroid. This is the modern tech world and the story occurs a little over 100 years from now. The main characters of this timeline are the 'Pythons' and the story would be told through their military background.
In the second, the fragments of the asteroid were scattered across the globe by the impact. Humanity discovered them and found that they could absorb the magical essence of the crystal fragments and harness it as magic. The story here takes place as if advanced technology was never required because magic was commonplace. The story would be told from Tromel's perspective, i might do it in 3rd or 1st person, it depends on how focused the story should be on him.
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
In the 3rd timeline, the asteroid never hit. Dinosaurs didn't die out, they kept evolving. On race eventually becoming sentient. The world they live in is savage and the characters are much more reptilian than human. The personal needs and those of their society are very different from ours. Some of the technology they possess is WAYYYY beyond the other factions but they still live in stone and wood huts. I plan to kind of give them an Aztec/Myan aesthetic and feel, but without the sacrificial cult aspect. The brothers J'Vris and A'Sarn would be main characters for the story.
These 3 chapters were written as a proof of concept. I know they are loaded with information and move at light speed but that's not the way I want to write the book. I plan to write it largely from a single faction's perspective. I'm just not sure which would be better. My question to all of you, which faction would be more interesting?
