Episode 5: The Beast Within

The forest grew darker as they moved deeper into its heart. The trees grew thicker, their branches twisting like skeletal hands, blocking out much of the light. The air was heavy with the scent of damp earth and decay, and the path seemed to grow narrower, more treacherous with every step.

They had been walking for hours, with no sign of any other creatures or obstacles. It was as though the forest was waiting for something. And Luca felt that waiting, a tension in the air that matched the unease growing within him. There was something else—something larger—that loomed on the horizon.

Finally, they came upon a clearing, and Luca stopped dead in his tracks. His heart skipped a beat as he stared at the massive creature that stood in the center of the glade. It was unlike anything he had seen before—a hulking beast, its body covered in dark fur that shimmered with an unnatural glow. Its eyes were an eerie shade of gold, its fangs as long as swords.

Luca’s throat went dry. The creature looked as if it had been conjured from the depths of his worst nightmares. Its sheer size and strength were enough to crush him in an instant.

Mia stepped forward, her voice steady. "This is the true test, Luca. The Beast of the Forest. It represents your greatest fear, the thing you’ve been running from all your life."

The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

Luca’s pulse quickened, and his grip on his sword tightened. He had faced the smaller creatures, but this was different. This wasn’t just a fight. This was the culmination of everything he had learned—or failed to learn—up until now.

"How do we defeat it?" he asked, his voice a little more uncertain than he’d like to admit.

"You don’t defeat it, Luca. You face it. You face the beast inside you. The fear, the doubt, the guilt. All of it."

Luca’s mind raced. The beast inside me…

The creature growled, a sound that rumbled like thunder. It took a step forward, its massive paws shaking the ground beneath them. Luca’s heart beat in his throat.

But Mia didn’t flinch. Instead, she stood firm, eyes locked on the beast. "This is your trial. And when you’re ready, you’ll see that the fear is nothing more than a shadow. It only holds power if you let it."

Luca’s hand shook, but he stepped forward, moving toward the beast with an intensity he hadn’t felt before. His mind was clear, his body tense. He couldn’t run anymore. The time had come to face it—not just the creature, but the fears that had haunted him for so long.

The beast lunged, but Luca was ready this time. He sidestepped, just as Mia had taught him, and he slashed at the creature with all his strength. The blade connected, but the beast didn’t stumble. It turned its golden eyes on him, snarling, and charged again.

But Luca didn’t back down. He met the charge head-on, raising his sword. This time, the beast wasn’t just an enemy to defeat. It was a part of him. And as he clashed with the creature, something inside him clicked.

He was no longer fighting with fear. He was fighting with understanding.

And that made all the difference.
