A pair of bored green eyes watched as the man she had spent what felt like hours with walked into a pack of wolves. The delinquent was calm, and there was a swagger in his step she hadn't seen before. It made Selena wonder if it was even the same man she had come to know within that accursed room.
The delinquent was either unaware or uncaring of the ten people within the crowd, keeping any would-be heroes in line before they even got a chance to step within the man-made ring. Selena had watched Caden weave through the crowd finding and forcing men and women alike to join his little group. She even saw him size up Flynn before moving on for easier prey.
A loud smack cut off her's musings as Flynn's head slammed into Caden's with enough force to drop the would-be leader. Selena blinked her eyes, trying to keep up with the blur that was Flynn Blackwater. He was in a dead sprint towards the large, somewhat simple man Caden had used to solidify his gains and coerce. The lug, despite his size, was quick on the uptake and, with a deep breath, let out a roar that made her take a step back. She had to force herself not to turn and run with the rest of the crowd.
His voice was guttural and sent spikes of fear into Selena's mind, but Flynn Blackwater didn't hesitate as he barreled towards the man in a move that Selena could only describe as a reckless gambit. Despite that, the monster of a man fell to the ground like a fallen tree. He cried out in pain and clutched his chest. On the other hand, Flynn bounced off the man with a dexterity that felt inhuman, getting to his feet just in time to throw himself backward, dodging a quick and precise strike from Caden's blade. It seems the gangster wasn't entirely out of the fight as she had thought.

What Selena saw next floored her.
Flynn looked as if he was fighting against his body's limits as he weaved and swirled between each attack. He flowed like water; at times, his hand would shoot out, jabbing with the speed of a viper. Despite her upbringing within the martial world, Selena had only ever seen two men fight in a style like this. Her father and the man who had killed him, her grandfather.
She knew instinctively that if Flynn had held a weapon, Caden would have been little more than mince meat; in fact, she had seen Flynn acknowledge and give up more than one opening. He was taking a page out of Caden's book and putting on a show for the spectators. Flynn Blackwater was undermining everything Caden had built up in the last hour.
Looking around, Selena watched as one figure after another shrunk away, abandoning their leader, leaving only two or three remaining. Still, it meant little as Flynn moved quickly, dropping Caden to the ground and positioning the man's own blade against his neck. Flynn even got a few items out of the ordeal. He was brutally efficient, which only furthered her growing suspicion of Flynn.
In the end, it was His words that convinced her. The words cut through her like ice and came from her father. It was a cold winter day, and she could still feel the frost on her lips as he spoke his dying breath. He had been smiling.
"Get stronger; no one's going to save you a second time." Anger, disgust, and confusion swirled around the girl as killing intent bellowed off her. The few people around her felt sorrowful for the man receding into the woods. After all, he had no clue about the assassin he left at his back.
