“Wretched dogs! Your heads are so far up your asses that you turned away from your goddess,” Selene, the moon goddess, erupted. The battlefield below her smelled of fresh blood, vomit, rot, and burnt flesh. Dead bodies were scattered over the brown hills and barren meadows. Screams, cries, clanging of metal, and crackling fire assaulted Selene’s ears. The sky was clouded by smoke from the remnants of magic. They turned all her gifts of magic into senseless weapons aimed at each other. They have destroyed each other over and over again. Nothing ever changed. Now, the humans were involved in the bloodshed. Her children were guilty of murder and destruction of the Earth she loved. It ends now. “Defy all the gifts that I gave you all! I will just take it all from your kind, from all of my children of the night. Suffer my wrath!”
With that, Selene began to glow like the moon as her children of the night fell to their knees. No beast was left standing. The magic inside her children began to pour out of the beasts as strands of white light floated up toward Selene, collecting into a ball of light. Cries of agony were heard across the Earth. No one could hide from the angry goddess. They had no hope of stopping her wrath.
Selene did not let up as her children begged for forgiveness. There was no guilt in her heart, however, she felt a deep sadness for the unnecessary violence and broken faith she had in her children. Her body rose into the sky under the full moon. The ball of light burned brightly as it fed on the magic of Selene’s cold of the night. “You filled the world with hate and destruction from your endless wars. There will be no more needless death since you will all be plain humans with your memories of your magic erased.”

One after another, the werewolves, vampires, witches, shifters, every other child of the night pleaded with the goddess. They prayed and vowed sacrifices if their young would be spared. Selene refused. She would not allow any chance for revenge. She had given them all chances, yet each generation was worse than the last. It all had to end here.
Then, he came forward in the midst of all the chaos. The only person strong enough to face her wrath was her great-grandson, the Lycan King. “O’ Blessed Moon Goddess, I, your humble descendant beg your forgiveness. Please reconsider your judgment. You created us from our curses and gave us a new existence from your magic. We wish to protect and preserve the innocent of our kinds. Please, Moon Goddess, do not forsake them,” the Lycan King pleaded.
Selene glanced down at her great-grandchild. Were there any innocent ones among them? True, the young children were not guilty of their parents’ sins. Still, she would not stop her wreckoning that she inflicted on her children. They needed to learn that life is sacred. She could not spare the children, yet, she is a benevolent goddess. Perhaps she could give them a possible future centuries from now as comfort. “I will not spare any of you, but I will give your descendants an opportunity for forgiveness. Pray, they do better than you all and earn their magic back.”
The last of the white strands of light left all of Selene’s children of the night. All of the creatures crumbled to the ground, lifeless. Selene gathered the giant ball of pure magic and binded it into a magic book. She looked down on the Lycan King, “Worry not, former King, one day your people will have a chance just as I promised.” Selene waved her hand over the Lycan King and chose to leave a drop of her power in a mark on him. “This will guide your descendant to me one day. Pray for them, former King.”
Selene left the battlefield in a disarray. All her children of the night were normal humans now. When they awake from their comatose state, the humans would not remember anything of their magic. Let the era of peace begin.
