Chapter 4
As we left the forrest, we stumbled upon a village that you would find in your typical rpg. A guard in armor that resembles that worn in the european rennaisance approaches us. He is carrying what appears to be a crystal ball.
“If you wish to enter the village, you will need to pass an expection first.” He said dutifully.
He then holds out the crystal ball.
I bend over to whisper into Asumis ear,
“What is this about an expection?”
“Don’t worry, they simply wish to see if you have a criminal record.”
“What would happen if I do have one?”
“They will simply abandon you in the woods where you will be eaten by monsters. But that’s only if you did something really bad. If it’s merely petty theft they sell you at auction.”
Scary! That’s scary!
Thanking the goddess for me living an honest life in my previous life, I place my palm on the crystal ball. What popped up was a series of 3d characters. They weren’t in japanese, but for some reason I was able to read it.
Name: Tatsumaki Yuto
Race: Human
Age: 17
Job: Magic Warrior
Sub-Jobs: Spearman, Blacksmith, Beast Tamer
Criminal record: non-existent

For some reason all of my stats were unreadable. But my luck is really high.

Both the guard, and Asumi look like their eyes are going to pop out of their sockets. Is it really that big a shock?
“Um, is something wrong?”
My sudden question seems to have brought them back to reality.
“I… I’m sorry, this is the first time I’ve seen a reading like this.”
“Yuto, no, Yuto-sama!”
The guard is stunned, while Asumi has stars in her eyes. And could you please not add the suffix sama to my name?
After that, we were led to the village. The guard offered to show me around, but I turned him down. This was a pretty large village it seems. But with Asumi, I should have no problem learning the layout.
There is just one problem. Asumi hasn’t let go of my arm for the last thirty minutes. The soft feeling of her breasts were like warm marshmallows, or perhapse a soft pudding…. What am I even saying!
“Asumi?”
“Yes Yuto-sama?”
“What are you doing?”
“Is there something wrong?”
“No, but why are you holding onto my arm like it’s a teddy bear?”
“Do you hate it?” She said with sad eyes.
“I wouldn't say I’m not enjoying it, but the stares coming from the surroundings hurt quite a bit.”
Indeed, the ‘die normy’ aura is seeping from the crowd. I don’t blame them, but they should really tone it down.
We arrive at a large 2-story building, we enter through a massive double door. When we are inside I realize that it was not a 2-story building, but a building with a needlessly high ceiling.
“Asumi, what is this place?”
“This is the mercenary guild.”
“Mercenary guild?”
“It’s a place that hires mercenaries to take on jobs. You can get paid for things such as gathering herbs, or exterminating monsters. You’ve never heard of it?”
That’s right, I never told her about me being from another world! I should probably keep it a secret until I get more information about this world.
“I have been living in seclusion since I was very young, so I don’t know the common sense of this world.”
It’s a cliche excuse, but it should do for now.
“I see, I guess that makes sense.”
She bought it!
“Well, if that’s the case, then I should explain some things. But first let’s register you at the guild, since you won’t be able to learn most professions over night.”
I didn’t want such a cliche isekai job, but I don’t really have that many options right now. Let’s give it a shot!
“One more thing before that Asumi, could you let go of my arm?”
“Not gonna happen.” She said without caring about my opinion.
