Chapter 6

Su Ye saw the man smile contentedly as she ate bite after bite of the breakfast.

It seemed like he felt it was inappropriate to stay any longer. He walked toward the door, hesitated for a moment, then spoke up:

"I’ll leave now. I’ll come by again tomorrow morning. If you run into any difficulties, just call me. The number’s on that little note."

With that, he turned around with a somewhat melancholy expression and reluctantly left the house.

Su Ye swallowed the food in her mouth forcefully.

From her perspective, she didn’t actually dislike the man all that much.

After all, he had helped her family a lot. The person who truly hated him was probably his wife.

After finishing her meal, she grabbed her small shoulder bag and prepared to head out.

As she passed by the full-length mirror, she saw the frail, slender girl with long black hair staring back at her. Su Ye swallowed nervously and sighed lightly.

"Forget it, let’s go."

She had enjoyed a delicious breakfast for free, so it wasn’t a bad start to the day.

Leaving the house, she walked slowly down the quiet street, silently opening the Life Simulator on her phone, ready to begin her simulation for the day.

"I hope this time it won’t disappoint me."

【Official simulation requires 20 basic plot points.】

【You currently have 220 plot points.】

【Do you wish to start a new life simulation?】

"Yes!"

This time, her plot points had doubled from the last time, which meant the simulation could potentially last much longer.

She took a deep breath.

"Alright, let’s start!"

When she clicked confirm, the talents for this simulation appeared:

【Curiosity (White): A strong desire to explore and seek knowledge, more interested in the unknown.】

【Sudden Windfall (White): 20% chance to receive a small but safe sum of money.】

【Overexertion (White): Overworked to the point of exhaustion, with a chance of sudden death. Physique -1.】

【Star Potential (White): Extremely likely to be discovered by a talent scout.】

【Thirst for Knowledge (White): A strong craving for knowledge. Intelligence +1.】

【Memory Master (Green): Your memory potential has been unlocked. Intelligence +1.】

【Keen Eyesight (White): Your vision has improved somewhat.】

【Weak Constitution (White): Physique -1.】

【Spiritual Purification (White): You have a pure heart and derive happiness from it. Happiness +1.】

【Insight (White): You are better at discovering secrets.】

This time, it seemed a bit better. After some quick consideration, she made her choices.

【Sudden Windfall (White)】

【Memory Master (Green)】

【Insight (White)】

She chose Sudden Windfall because she needed money. While the money from the simulation couldn’t be taken out, the methods for obtaining it were something she could replicate.

Memory Master was a no-brainer, since it was green-rated.

Insight was a bit more mysterious, and she wasn’t sure if it would be useful, but it was worth a try.

【Choice confirmed. 60 plot points deducted. Do you want to consume plot points to enhance the simulation?】

"No, not yet."

She was low on simulation points and needed to save them for now.

【Choice confirmed. The simulation begins...】

Day 1

The results of your morning exam are in. You rank 18th in the class, and the teacher is very pleased with you. For lunch, you eat some bread from a supermarket and then head to the piano room to practice the piece you’ve learned.

While playing the piano, a rustling sound comes from the end of the hallway. Thinking someone might be there, you step outside the classroom door, only to find the dark hallway empty. The sound seems to have come from there, and it feels… dangerous.

You now choose:

* Ignore it and return to playing the piano.

* Approach the source of the sound and investigate what’s going on.

* Forget it and leave the music building.

You can also consume a choice card to make the decision.

Su Ye furrowed her brows slightly.

"Dangerous, huh?"

Usually, the simulator only describes important events this way, which means something significant might happen from the sound.

"Well, it’s just a simulation, right? Whatever!"

Without overthinking, she immediately chose option 2.

【You slowly approach the source of the sound. As you get closer, the muffled noise fades and is replaced by a thick, squelching sound, as if flesh is being devoured. An intense feeling of unease rises within you, but you still continue toward the source.】

【You push open a door and enter another music classroom.】

【The sound is coming from behind the curtains in the corner. As you approach… in the dim light, the sound of flesh being chewed becomes clearer. You feel as if some animal is hiding behind the curtains.】

【You walk closer and stand next to the curtains.】

【Your reflection appears in the full-length mirror ahead, but in the next moment, the image distorts, turning a bright blood red. You feel an irresistible pull, and several tendrils made of blood and flesh emerge from the mirror, binding you tightly.】

【Despite your extreme fear, you also feel an unexpected excitement.】

"???"

"Excitement?"

Su Ye was bewildered. The corners of her mouth twitched in disbelief.

"What the hell? Excited?!"

She couldn’t help but feel speechless.

The situation in the simulator was indeed strange, making her feel deeply unsettled.

【The binding force grows stronger, and you soon feel pain as you struggle… but you fail! Your limbs are completely restrained, your mouth shut tight, and you can’t make a sound. Eventually, you are slowly dragged into the mirror by the blood and flesh.】

【A piercing scream echoes. After enduring excruciating pain, you die.】

At that moment, Su Ye, now close to the school gate, suddenly stopped in her tracks.

She swallowed nervously.

"Killed by a mirror?"

It seemed like she died in a horrific way.

A chilling sensation ran down her spine.

She tried to calm herself, but the feeling of unease lingered.

Thinking it over, this simulation was based on reality. Could there be something normal people weren’t supposed to encounter at this school? A dark world? Mysterious stories?

As she pondered, the screen shifted to the results page.

【The life simulation has ended.】

Your rating: C

【You have earned plot points: 50】

【During this simulation, you encountered the other side of the world.】

Achievements unlocked: Hidden Truths. Awarded: 300 plot points.

Achievements unlocked: Painful Struggle. Awarded: 100 plot points.

【You have earned a Choice Card.】

【You have witnessed the unknown. You can consume 100 plot points to extract a special item or ability from the simulation (first extraction free).】

【Currently available for extraction: Ominous Flesh (Purple, Rare).】

【Function Upgrade: Otherworld Simulation unlocked. You can now perform simulations in other worlds for 500 plot points each.】

"What is this...?"

Su Ye stared at the results, surprised.

It was clear she had encountered something abnormal. Besides gaining a choice card, she could even extract items. Moreover, there seemed to be an option to simulate other worlds, though it was quite expensive.

"Ominous Flesh… that looks creepy."

The image showed a dark red-black mass of flesh, pulsating with an eerie energy. Su Ye seriously doubted whether she could even handle something like that. After all, she was killed by this exact thing in the simulation.

However, the purple rarity made it tempting.

"Fine, the simulator is willing to provide it, so it should be mostly safe."

After all, with its purple rarity, it would be hard for her to give it up.

Her finger touched the screen, and a line of text appeared.

Item: Ominous Flesh (Purple, Rare)

Type: Consumable, Cursed

Description: It killed the poor girl without mercy. Her grievances and pain turned into hatred, seemingly ready to erode everything.

Effect 1: Replaces the bearer’s death once.

Effect 2: If the bearer is not Su Ye, they will be cursed.

"So this is its purpose."

The effect of replacing the bearer’s death, combined with Effect 2, clearly meant that this was something for Su Ye herself.

"Could it be that with this, I effectively get an extra life?"

Awesome!

"By the way, what happens if I eat it?"

After a brief silence, Su Ye quickly knocked her head, shaking off the terrifying thought.

But as she thought more about it, the description of the flesh was a bit chilling. It had killed the poor girl, and it was obvious that the girl was herself.

"Looks like I should avoid wandering into the remote parts of the Art Building in the future."

She exchanged the piece of meat.

The next moment, a gruesome, blackish lump appeared in her hand.

Would you like to place it in the simulation space?

"Yes!"

To avoid being seen by passersby and labeled a freak, she quickly threw it into the simulator’s inventory.

Now, looking at her current storyline points:

Remaining: 130 points.

Gained: 450 points.

Together: exactly 580.

"It seems like I can do an otherworldly simulation now."

Raising her head, she noticed the school gates up ahead. She closed the interface for the time being and followed a few classmates through the school entrance.

...

A few minutes later, Su Ye arrived at the classroom.

It was as if nothing had happened. She opened her textbook, pretending to read aloud, but in reality, she opened the simulator again.

For the second simulation of the day, the interface immediately displayed the option for an otherworldly simulation.

Without thinking too much, she clicked "Confirm."

The author's narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

Consuming 500 storyline points, welcome to the Otherworld Simulation.

Randomizing world…

Determining fantasy coordinates, preparing for deployment.

Since this is your first time doing an otherworld simulation, you are granted a free 10-minute experience card.

Based on the world rules, you can choose the following identities:

1. Commoner: No storyline points required.

2. Noble: Consumes 10 storyline points, family status +3.

3. Royalty: Consumes 20 storyline points, family status +6.

Randomly selecting your talent (choose 1 from the following 5):

Majestic Presence (White): Once you rise to power, you will have a bit more authority.

Dance Expert (White): You have a strong talent for dance, and your learning ability is enhanced.

Protective Aura (White): May offer some form of protection.

Sadistic (White): You have a strong tendency to mistreat others.

Etiquette Expert (White): You are proficient in noble etiquette, charm +1.

Unlike the reality simulation, the otherworldly simulation actually allowed for talent selection from five choices, and there was also an identity option. Moreover, the rewards gained in the simulation world were closely tied to what one obtained there.

"Could the otherworld simulation start from birth?"

Considering this, Su Ye wasn’t going to be stingy. She had already spent 500 points; what was another 20?

She chose Royalty, and for her talent, she selected Protective Aura (White). The reason was simple: it might help her avoid some risks.

"Let’s go with this."

All selections complete, simulation starting…

0 years old, you were born in the Esphili Kingdom, a princess named Su Ye under mysterious circumstances. Your father is the ruler of this kingdom, holding vast wealth, and you are the first in line to inherit the throne.

3 years old, you first encountered meditation techniques but failed to sense any elements.

4 years old, your third brother and second sister were born.

5 years old, you began to show extraordinary beauty, and your parents doted on you, happiness +1.

6 years old, you felt magic for the first time.

12 years old, in an attempt to prevent you from inheriting the throne, someone secretly added a youth-preserving drug to your drink. From that day on, you would never grow older and would lose the ability to bear children, remaining in your current appearance forever. Constitution -1.

13 years old, you were attacked but fortunately escaped unharmed.

That same year, more and more young men came to propose to you, but you rejected them all.

14 years old, you were attacked again, this time by assassins sent by the Crown Prince.

15 years old, your beauty had become famous far and wide, but your body had never developed. Your father noticed the anomaly and began investigating. In July of the same year, the assassins were caught. According to the kingdom's laws, you would not be able to have children, and due to your frail health, you would lose your right to the throne. However, the king personally overruled this and amended the law for you.

A family member’s attitude towards you changed to: Hostile.

16 years old, you mastered the Elemental Absorption Technique and felt the magical Ice Element for the first time, delighting your parents with your talent.

On September 1st of the same year, after years of scheming and gaining much support, the Crown Prince launched a coup to seize the throne.

On September 6th, the rebel forces stormed the royal capital. Your parents were killed, and the enemies surrounded the palace where you were.

...

"Ugh, am I going to die at 16?"

Su Ye saw this description and noticed a glowing 10-minute experience card.

"I’ll use it."

She felt that this life simulation had been a bit of a failure. Besides learning meditation and comprehending the Ice Element, she hadn’t gained much.

Might as well go to that world and see it for herself.

You have consumed the 10-minute experience card.

The moment she clicked to use it, her head spun.

The next moment, the world seemed to spin, and the surroundings turned dark.

When she regained her senses, she found herself sitting in a high chair.

"What is this…?"

The first thing she noticed was a magnificent scene.

In the grand hall, exquisite chandeliers hung overhead, with colorful gems sparkling like stars under the light.

At the end of the red carpet, an elderly man with a white beard stood.

He wore a suit-like uniform, his face worn and weathered.

Su Ye turned her gaze to the side.

Not far away, a huge, gold-framed mirror reflected her image.

A young girl with long white hair, dressed in a pure white princess gown, sat gracefully on the majestic chair. Her skin was pale, her eyes blood-red, and she had an otherworldly beauty. Her small frame seemed fragile, and her feet, encased in white stockings, couldn’t even touch the floor—she looked like an exquisite doll.

“How beautiful... is this really me?”

The reflection before her was completely different from her real self. Apart from looking much younger, her appearance was no less stunning.

Most striking were her white hair and red eyes, and her tiny, delicate feet.

Cough, cough...

She quickly snapped out of her momentary admiration. It was time to focus on the task at hand.

Using an experience card wasn’t just about exploring this alternate world—it was about understanding the power structure of this realm and obtaining useful items.

It would be even better if they could be used in the real world or exchanged.

She jumped off the chair, but her legs ached, almost causing her to fall.

Goodness, her physical condition was terrible.

Was this the result of having a body with -1 physical constitution? She’d probably fall over if pushed.

“Your Highness.” The old butler quickly stepped forward, steadying her arm, and sighed softly. “The rebels have arrived. It won’t be long before the enemy invades this hall. I’ve watched you grow up, Your Highness. Today, I’m willing to face death alongside you. Even in the afterlife, please allow me to continue being your butler and take care of you.”

He finished speaking and knelt down on one knee, his expression filled with loyalty.

Su Ye looked at him in surprise.

After a few seconds of silence, she tried to speak. “Butler, do you remember if there’s anything valuable in the palace? Like items, or something that could enhance our strength?”

The old man was stunned, not understanding the princess’s intentions.

“Even if there were, it would be difficult to retrieve them now. The only possibly valuable things are in the second-floor rooms.”

“Take me there.”

“Yes, Your Highness.”

The poor princess seemed to still hope for a miracle, but the butler knew it was impossible.

Seeing the princess's hopeful expression, he sighed and picked up a nearby oil lamp before leading the way.

“Please follow me, Your Highness.”

As they ascended the spiral staircase, Su Ye felt the weakness of her body.

Just reaching the second floor left her breathless, and her legs felt like they were filled with lead.

“This is His Majesty’s room.”

The door opened, revealing an extremely luxurious interior.

It was at least 400 to 500 square meters.

Without thinking too much, Su Ye immediately began rummaging through drawers and cabinets.

Minutes later, a line of letters flashed before her eyes.

[Strange Jade Pendant (White)]

[May just be an ordinary jadeite.]

[Do you want to spend 5 plot points to mark this?]

[Note: Marked items might be extractable into the real world after the simulation ends (still requires plot points). Extraction probability depends on the item’s value and difficulty of acquisition.]

“White item, 5 plot points, and not even guaranteed…”

She quickly gave up.

This might be valuable to sell, but wasting precious plot points on it didn’t seem worth it.

Still, she stuffed the jade pendant into her pocket, thinking she’d consider it later if nothing else turned up.

She searched for over a minute and started getting anxious.

Soon, her eyes landed on a crescent-shaped key, which matched exactly with a door behind a curtain.

Without hesitation, she grabbed the key and ran over to open it.

A light suddenly scanned her body.

“Royal bloodline detected, please enter!”

The door opened.

Before her stood a vast library.

“This is...” The butler was surprised.

Su Ye didn’t care much, running straight in.

Bookshelves over ten meters tall were neatly arranged, and well-crafted cabinets lined the walls.

She started pulling open the cabinet doors until she reached a locked one.

The lock’s hole matched the crescent-shaped key’s star-shaped button. She pressed it, and with a click, the door opened.

Inside was a bottle of light green transparent potion.

[Elixir of Immortality (Blue)]

[A rare blue potion that prevents growth and aging. It was once used to poison Princess, but after being confiscated, it was sealed in the underground library.]

[Do you want to spend 5 plot points to mark this?]

Su Ye’s eyes lit up.

This was a good item.

Regardless of how useful it was, she marked it.

The next moment, a faint green light flickered over the potion.

Su Ye continued rummaging through the cabinets. Not long after, her gaze landed on a bookshelf.

[Basic Magic Encyclopedia (White)]

[It contains systematic magic theories, with 24 volumes that explain complex magic in a simplified way. The information is highly valuable.]

[Do you want to spend 5 plot points to mark this?]

“Mark it!”

[Meditation Method (Green)]

[It details methods for calming the mind. Although it originated from a lower world, its value is unexpectedly high.]

[Do you want to spend 5 plot points to mark this?]

“Yes!”

Su Ye wasn’t sure if these items would be useful in the real world, but with limited plot points, she only marked two of them.

She was about to continue when a sound of metal footsteps approached from outside the door, growing louder.

“Quick, search, the princess is nearby!”

Hearing this, the butler’s face changed. He immediately drew two swords from a nearby rack.

“Your Highness, please let me buy you a little more time.”

Armed soldiers burst in.

“Found you!” The leader, a silver-haired youth of about sixteen, wore no armor, only a luxurious robe. Upon seeing Su Ye and the butler, he flashed a seemingly warm smile. “My dear sister, why are you hiding in Father’s room?”

Su Ye swallowed nervously, looking at the bloodstained blades and remembering the three-minute countdown on her experience card.

The simulator had synchronized her memories with those of the princess, and there was no doubt: this was the kingdom’s crown prince, who lost his inheritance rights just because he was born one minute after the elder princess.

They were twins, and he, too, had inherited their parents' beauty—handsome, though it seemed somewhat bland compared to the princess.

Su Ye glanced at the many unopened cabinet doors, feeling a little regretful.

“I never cared about the throne. If you want it, take it.”

“What’s the point of saying that now, my dear sister?” The prince sneered. His gaze fell on the butler. “Reck, you’ve served the royal family faithfully. If you surrender, I’ll let you continue as the butler.”

His tone was sincere, but the old man shook his head and sighed. “My loyalty has never been to the royal family, but to the emperor and the princess. You can never sway me.”

“What a pity. I hope you won’t regret it.”

The prince waved his hand, and the soldiers immediately rushed toward him.

The butler met them with his sword, but unlike the hero in a story, he wasn’t a match for them and was quickly struck down by several blows.

As the prince slowly walked toward the princess, the butler suddenly shouted, pulling the weapon lodged in his body and stepping in front of Su Ye.

“Don’t come near her.”

Blood gushed from his wounds.

Su Ye stood frozen, her heart heavy.

In her past life, although she’d seen bloodshed in movies, nothing had been as shocking as this.

Especially seeing the butler—despite being pierced by so many swords—still enduring the pain to protect her.

A feeling, called "touch," stirred in the memories of the princess... or perhaps it was her own feelings now.

The prince raised his scepter, striking the butler aside.

A crack sounded as bones broke.

The old man fell to the ground, trying to rise but failing.

“Your Highness…” His hand reached toward Su Ye.

With her brother approaching, Su Ye had no choice but to retreat, only to crash into a bookshelf.

Soon, he was right in front of her.

There were 30 seconds left.

“Sister, you’re truly unbelievably adorable.”

The prince couldn’t help but laugh at the sight of the 12-year-old girl before him.

“What do you want?” Su Ye glared at him.

“I love you so much that I won’t allow anyone to defile you. The only one who can kill you is me.”

His scepter dropped, revealing a sword inside.

The next moment, Su Ye felt a sharp pain in her abdomen as the sword plunged into her.

And just then, the simulation ended.

Su Ye closed her eyes, and when she came to her senses, she was sitting back in the classroom.
