2nd Wave (2)

SMASH

HUFF HUFF HUFF

William was very very tired from moving the book around with such force each time. It was only given, he didn't wanna take chances in making them move farther.

He had killed three rats with just the technique he had been using all this time.

But he was at his limit. The rats just kept coming one after another which was also a good thing in another way.

The rats were not coming together and he didn't have to worry about fighting two or three of them at the same time.

Minute turned to minutes when finally, he was done with another. There were some notification sounds from the object in his wrist that he could not open because of the dangers that came up one after the other.

"HUff.. HUff… FUCK! How many more!?" William exclaimed in anger while holding the book high to intimidate the rat but it did nothing like he hoped.

The rat still pounced just as the same as the others, only, this time, William was very tired. He smacked the creature far yet his muscles had gone numb. His hands felt limp and even mustering the strength to pick the book up seemed like a lost cause.

Yet in the face of adversity, William could only continue to use the book again and again to smack it down with less and less strength than the previous attacks.

Until the rat had one of its feet broken which made it slower than before. William had to smack it down again and again and finally, it stopped attacking and fell to the back.

William found the courage to desperately move and just smash the book at the rat and it was the end of this one too.

Without taking note of the corpse, he went and circled the tower while praying that no more of them come again.

He was so desperate that his resistance to use the sacrificial book's true power was fading away.

He opened it while circling around in order to click the first option just as the creature came running toward him.

The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.

Yet nothing came for a minute.

Suddenly, the hologram opened on its own.

William fell on his knees, his body was too exhausted to even care about anything else coming toward him.

William fell on his face and fell unconscious yet again, something that was happening too often.

The notifications came one after another without stopping as if there were some new guidelines or messages coming from it.

William was not going to get up anytime soon if not for the fact that his stomach was now hurting.

It was different than the times when he was hungry in college for two days straight.

Here, he was getting too exhausted due to physical exertion, something that would make even the sturdiest get hungry in their time.

William's eyes opened, he wanted to sleep more and his eyes just wanted to close again, it was as if it had a force of its own. Trying to change William's choice with those sweet sweet dreams.

William was just too hungry and impatient to sleep.

"UGH…"

With one big force, he got up completely and looked at the front in dizziness.

'What is happening to me? How can I get so tired with just this?' William asked himself, whatever the case, he was not one of the people who would get exhausted and fell unconscious with only this much.

It was at this time that he realized that he hadn't eaten anything for many hours before he came here too making things much more understandable.

William went inside the tower and sat near the button. His hands were bruised and he lost track of where the sacrificial book was but he first clicked on the button for progression.

[You have opened the second wave's gift!]

[Congratulations! Transferred 5 Tower Points to the tower. Transferred 1 'loaf of bread']

====

"Finally!!" he saw the 'loaf of bread' notification and exclaimed loudly.

Suddenly, something came out of thin air in front of him and fell to the ground. William moved his eyes frantically and saw a big loaf of bread.

It was too big to be considered a normal-sized loaf. It looked to be just a little less than a meter in length. Almost double the size of a normal one. It's width was also something that he could feel was good.

Before he knew it, William pounced at the dry bread and ate a big chunk for it that looked small with just how big the loaf was.

He bit the chunk off and started eating. One would have felt that the bread was just too bland or hard to be goof but William was content with any food.

He was not picky at all and had the will to eat anything as long as it was borderline ethical and able to content his stomach.
