Chapter 7

It has now been 4 days since the events of game 0, and Jack is just waking up from his slumber.

Dang, now that I think about it, this bed is a pretty good upgrade from the mattress I sleep on at home.

Jack stands up from his bed and stretches for a bit.

Then, a ring echoes throughout the building and an announcement plays.

“All of you, return to the main room. If you don’t remember what that is, it’s the room you were in before game 0.” A new voice commanded.

A new voice, that means this guy is most likely going to be the next proctor for the first game. Or I guess second, if we count game 0.

Jack listened to the man’s order and exited his room to go to the main room.

When he arrived, he saw the Onlooker called Algar.

Algar was in the center of the room with his arms crossed while a serious expression was plastered on his face.

His red hair was long and messy and his beard was no better.

Oh, I assume this is the guy heard earlier considering his deep voice would match his larger build.

Jack’s eyes glanced around the room, looking for anything that wasn’t there previously.

Woah, this room feels so much less crowded when there’s half the people.

Jack noticed something very odd for a single moment. A figure in the crowd of people. Resembling someone he recognized.

Who was that? Even though he was there only for a second he looked like that man.

Loid walked up next to Jack and smiled at him and Jack gave a smile in return.

I wonder, is my plan to use this kid to win the game evil? Even if I was trained and taught to use everything and everyone to my advantage, is that actually an excuse?

Then, the room began to shake violently as everyone in the room felt a presence like no other.

Damn, is this an ability like the ones we have? If it is, it most likely will be gravity based or something similar.

“Now that everyone is here, I can now begin the explanation of the first game.” Algar said with a sly grin across his face.

I see, this man is the type of guy who uses his powers to make others fear him and causes him to feel more powerful.

“Now that the real games have begun let me explain to you guys who I am. I am called an Onlooker who observes each game and makes sure you all are following the rules just like how Lucy did in game 0. We have powers just like you little weasels, but ours are much stronger and we can use them whenever we want. Plus, we’re Immortal so none of you guys are really a threat to us.” Algar explains with an amused expression on his face.

That makes so much more sense, but it still doesn’t explain who these Onlookers came from and the point of this death game.

“Anyway, the first game will take place in a maze where your goal is to find the exit within 10 days. Failure to do so will result in an execution.” Algar states.

“You all will be allowed to use your powers freely and go absolutely wild. Personally, I advise you to kill as many people as possible to avoid having to fight more people in the next games.” He advises while stretching his neck.

The idea of the game seems fairly simple so it’s likely that there are some things inside the maze not being mentioned in the explanation. Regardless of the content of the game, it won’t make a difference. Nothing on this planet…is capable of killing me.

Everyone in the room is teleported to inside a cave-like structure. The environment has one big border with a roof that is all made of stone and wraps around the area. There are multiple holes in that all lead to different passageways

The area had an aroma of sand and dust while being moderately warm. It was, without a doubt, the center of the maze.

Well this isn’t necessarily what I envisioned as a maze. It being so cave like is quite interesting.

“Now everyone, I wish you all a great ten days of misery. You may now begin!”

Jack’s expression turns serious and his eyes turn cold.

I have two goals. The first one, make Loid dependent on me and trust me completely. The second, find another participant to be in debt to me so I can borrow their ability. Effectively, making them a new weapon I can use at my disposal.
