One way ticket

“Will it still take much longer, Lala?”

“I’m almost done!”

“Got it, I'm leaving your meal by the door then!”

“Thanks Rito! I love you!”

After another day wondering the well being of his self-declared fiancée for locking herself in her  room four days ago, Rito once again leaves Lala’s bedroom door sighing. Apparently after he finally decided to confess to her, many thoughts were still running through his head, but above anything else he cared for her.

She said the same thing yesterday… He thought as he walked by the corridor of his house with the empty plate from Lala’s previous meal in hands, smiling lightly in a relieved tone. At least she didn’t forget to eat, Lala never changes.

“No signal of life?”

“Apparently it’s still the same…”

Arriving at the room, Mikan saw Rito coming back with the empty plate and just asked out of curiosity, even though she already knew the answer.

“You’re worrying for nothing, it’s normal for Onee-san to lock herself up out of the blue when a great idea appears!” says Momo, smiling shyly while playing with Celine on her lap with a mini console in hand. “There was once a time when she passed a whole week without eating when she was trying to make a multi-purpose robot.”

“I remember that day!” Nana steps in diverting her attention from the television to join the chat. “The best part was it exploding when it tried to cook.”

“Mom got really mad that day!”

“Zastin went to a lot more trouble than usual to clean all that mess.”

Coming back from the kitchen, Rito saw the scene of the two sisters enjoying themselves as they recalled the events of their childhood, feeling a hint of curiosity to learn more about the inventor’s shenanigans.

“She ended up combining business with pleasure, delayed her studies and played around making gadgets whenever possible.”

“As for us we got scolded on the first day we skipped classes…”

Meanwhile Momo felt a slight envy of Lala’s mischief, Nana was a little bitter because of the injustice they suffered, causing them both to sigh at the same time, but laughing once again.

“At least here, it’s the first time she’s been gone for so long.” says Rito, smiling shyly. “I still wonder what it should be for her to devote so much time to herself.. ”

“Probably a leash so that you don’t go around confessing to other people”

“T-that wasn’t intentional!”

Nana’s harsh comment left the poor boy more disconcerted than he already was in the past few days, thanks to his attempt to confess himself to Haruna being hindered by fate and by luck  —or lack thereof.

“No need to be so ashamed, Nana!” says Momo in a half-ironic tone as she puts her hand on one side of her face. “It’s not Rito-san's fault if you’ve never received a confession before.”

“W-what does one thing have to do with the other?! The culprit is this beast who doesn’t have a shred of decency!”

In the end she was more embarrassed than Rito himself at the slight nastiness of her twin sister.

“Had he just gone off to marry Ane-ue, I wouldn't need to go through this!”

“L-let’s take it easy! We haven’t even known each other for a year!”

“Is that really the reason that’s keeping you from this?” Mikan replies with her usual smug smile.

“W-what are you talking about?”

Even though he tried to cover it, Rito attempted to divert the subject which his sister threw on the table, fearing that the conversation would advance to the point he dreads the most —although she already knows why.

“What are they chatting about?” asks Nana, confused as she calmed down from her embarrassed state, curious about what or who they were talking about, until a memory flashed through her head. “Oh! Is it because of- Ouch!”

“Of course it’s because of school since Rito-san hasn't finished yet!”

Before Nana could say the name of the person, Momo gave her arm a ‘discreet’ pinch and tried to help the lad in this rather complicated situation —even though everyone there knows who the person in question is.

“T-that’s it! E-exactly!” he answers immediately with a forced, dry laugh trying to end the case.

When Nana went to complain about the pinch, Momo quickly made a silent gesture saying ‘covertly’ that she should let the matter die right there.

“What’s wrong with just speaking and clarifying everything up once and for all?” asks Nana, grumbling to herself, crossing her arms.

“That’s why you’ve never received a confession…”

“W-what does this have to do with anything?”

And once again, the second princess was disconcerted by her sister’s comment in an almost disappointing tone.

It still can’t go through my head why Ane-ue and Haruna like this… beast. She wondered lost in thought staring at Rito, leaving him confused from her previous reaction since what she said didn’t reach his ears. And I don’t understand why Momo defended him… It’s not like she likes him too. Or is it…

“Since when did you care so much about your studies?” asks Mikan with the same smile as before.

“S-since always! It’s the least I can do for our parents, right?” Even though he was still getting tangled in his own words, he hadn’t given up on dodging the matter yet. “Besides, I still have to take care of you until you’re older, r-right?”

“Are you sure of who’s taking care of who here?”

She raised an eyebrow and made a slight frown upon hearing this, leaving the boy embarrassed.

“It’s such a crime having to listen to this…” sighs Mikan, before mumbling softly to herself. “So you mean of all the reasons, I’m the least important? Stupid Rito…”

“Did you say something?”

“Nothing!!”

Confused, Rito scratched his cheek at her reaction, which was slightly annoyed, leaving him even more lost. From the other couch, Momo just watched the brothers arguing with each other, smiling with amusement at being sure he wasn’t the only one of the Yuuki’s having trouble expressing himself.

Forcing a yawn and a stretch, he looked at the cellphone screen quickly and stood up.

“Oh boy! Look how late it is! B-better sleep now, good night!”

Having said that, he quickly waved goodbye and left in the direction of his bedroom, causing Momo and Mikan to giggle lightly, while Nana was still a bit grumpy.

Taking his brother’s cue, Mikan also got up and picked Celine up from Momo’s lap, who complained about being taken out of her fun time.

“That’s enough video games for today, little lady. I’m going  to sleep too, good night Momo-san and Nana-san!”

“Bye Mikan-san!”

“... Oh! Good night.”

Nana answered in reflex as she was still lost in her thoughts, with the two twin sisters getting up shortly afterwards as well and heading for their rooms.

Once again the sun rises over the city of Sainan, little by little invading the gaps in the curtains of Yuuki Rito’s room, until his face is hit by one of the beams of light hours after the sun had risen.

“Is it morning already…?” he murmurs sleepily, with his eyes still heavy and considering whether to get up or not.

Slowly his sleepiness passed as he stared at the ceiling of his room, until his consciousness normalized and he realized his surroundings that there was a presence that had not appeared in his bed for a while.

“L-lala?! When did you get in here?!”

Despite all the noise he had made with his amazement, the pink girl still remained in a deep sleep, much to his surprise. After calming down a bit, he focused on Lala’s face, which had a few expression lines and slight dark circles around her eyes, evidencing the nights she had barely slept in the last few days.

But he was still a bit embarrassed about Lala since he had resolved to confess, looking away from her serene face and deciding not to bother her, he chose to let her rest and sat on the edge of the bed.

What’s wrong with her putting on something to sleep? F-frankly… thought Rito to himself before considering getting out of bed.

Suddenly he felt something extremely soft resting on his back, making him freeze for an instant, because he knew exactly what it was, although he denied it to himself.

“Is it morning already, Rito…?” the alien princess asks as she approaches Rito’s back and touches him with her bare breast, while rubbing her eyes and speaking sleepily.

Still not making a move and embarrassed of his situation, Rito could say nothing, but in a moment of ‘desperation’ to get out of this situation, he abruptly tried to stand up, but thanks to fate —or his magical and uncontrollable ability to get into these situations—, he stepped on a part of the sheet that was lying on the ground and consequently slipped.

As he tried to grab onto something to hold on, he ended up pulling Lala along with before falling backwards onto the floor, causing her to lie on his chest.

“Ouch, my head…” he grumbles as he opens his eyes before he sees Lala’s face just inches from his and swallows his saliva forcefully, in addition to the huge bust spread over his chest.

As if that wasn’t enough, one of his hands was gripping her tail while the other squeezed one of her buttocks, feeling the most of the softness of the skin of a descendant of the nearly extinct Charmians, making him even more nervous.

“Rito…” mutters Lala with all her face flushed, facing the embarrassed Rito who couldn’t react.

“W-what is it?”

“My… tail…”

They both wanted to get out of that embarrassing situation, but apparently they both couldn’t resist the magnetism of each other’s bodies, even if unconsciously. Little by little they were slowly getting closer, although shame still dominated them both.

Still, as usual, Rito did not feel ready to take a step forward in his relationship with Lala yet, letting go of her tail and suddenly sitting while holding her shoulders, putting a distance between the two of them.

Relieved to have her tail released, she looked confused at Rito who still stared at her silently all embarrassed as he admitted to having feelings for Lala and felt his heart beating faster than usual now.

“Good morning Rito-san! Mikan-san asked to wa-” abruptly Momo opens the bedroom door to her and Rito’s surprise, who still was with Lala over his waist.

“I-it’s not what you think, Momo!!” he says embarrassedly seeing her expression, even though it is fake.

“I already knew Onee-san was here, but I didn’t expect you two to be this close after only a few days you confessed, Rito-san…” she says with a smug smile before leaving the room’s entrance. “My message is delivered, I’ll let you finish what you started!”

Leaving the room again in silence, the two faced each other again, but with Rito quickly looking away in embarrassment.

I-i almost kissed Lala! W-what’s happening to me? thought Rito while breathing rapidly.

Surprisingly, it seems that the situation has planted the seed of confusion —and interest— in the Deviluke’s innocent and pure first princess as well.

What was that? My heart couldn’t stop racing, and it wasn’t just because of Rito grabbing my tail… thought Lala, minimally embarrassed with one hand on her chest.

A short time later another visitor showed up in the room, only this time it was Peke.

“There you are, Lala-sama! I’m ready to chan- is there any problem, Lala-sama?”

Seeing the awkward silence between the two left the little robot somewhat confused about what had happened in the room.

“I-it’s okay! I’m going to take a quick shower and then we’ll go to the kitchen.”

Still feeling a little embarrassed, she quickly stood up and headed for the bedroom door without speaking to Rito, though still giving a corner glance back before leaving the room.

“Hey Lala-san, what did you spend so much time making?” asks Mikan casually as she brings the pair of chopsticks to her mouth.

“It’s a surprise!” she replies cheerfully.

“I want to know too, Ane-ue” says Nana as she finishes her soup and puts the empty bowl on the table.

“Not yet! There’s one more person to come.”

Pouting lightly, Lala replied to her sister’s surprise, who almost always went around announcing to the four winds what she had just made.

Rito also had been surprised, but the moment their eyes met, he turned away his face quietly, although Momo noticed and smiled and smiled internally at seeing him ashamed like that for the first time.

That’s it, Rito-san! This is the initiative I want from you! she rejoiced to herself, letting out a little excitement, leaving Nana even more confused as she saw her expression turn into a sigh right after. I just hope it won’t be too long before it’s my turn…

“And who would this person be, La-”

Before Mikan could finish her question, the bell of the Yuuki’s residence rang, to the surprise of almost everyone but the first princess.

“Thanks for the breakfast Mikan! I’ll be back later!”

Having said this, she ate the rest of her share in the blink of an eye and stood up quickly, dragging Rito from his seat, who hadn’t even finished eating and ended up leaving the rest of the food on the table.

“H-hold up, Lala! Why are you in such a hu-”

“Lala-san? Why did you ask me to come here this ear-”

“S-sairenji?!”

“Y-yuuki-kun?”

When they arrived at the door, Lala opened it, and to the surprise —and confusion— of both, Rito did not understand why Haruna was at his house out of the blue, and she did not expected to  be welcomed by Rito, since it was Lala who had called her, thinking they were going somewhere since she did not say what they were going to do.

“Hihihi!”

Without giving them time to grasp the situation, Lala just grabbed Haruna’s wrist as well and left dragging them towards the staircase leading to the second floor, which were a little unbalanced because of the hurry, while the pink one just chuckled to herself.

“C-calm down, Lala!”

“Lala-san!!”

A few moments later, the Yuuki’s residence returned to the silence of the breakfast period, leaving the other residents having fun with Lala’s excitement.

“What could she have created to be this excited?” asks Mikan, raising an eyebrow, but changing her mind. “On second thought, nevermind. Since it’s Lala-san, it must be something out of the ordinary.”

“Maybe it’s something for the school, since she called Haruna-san.” answers Momo with a fake smile, since internally she expected it to be something completely different. That’s it, Onee-san!! Setting the mood for Rito-san and Haruna-san to be together!

“Let’s see it, I’m curious!”

Casually, Nana dropped it on the table before standing up, causing Mikan again to raise her eyebrow and surprising Momo, whose eyes popped for a moment before returning with her furtive smile in a split second.

“T-there’s no need, Nana! If Onee-san didn’t call us, it’s probably something just for them!”

“Since when does Ane-ue make something and do not show us? Cut the crap, let’s go too Mikan!”

Having said this, Momo screamed internally at Nana’s naivety, but if she said anything further even she would realize that Momo’s intention was to leave them alone and the chances of happening something rather peculiar —and probably perverted— would be high, impelling Nana to interrupt yet another of Rito’s attempts.

“I pass.” answers Mikan dryly, showing Nana the palm of her hand.

“She’ll show us what she’s done later, Nana!! There’s no need to rush!” says Momo, almost cold sweating as she holded her wrist.

“Considering the way Ane-ue’s invention are, it probably won’t work later…” she says, sighing lightly, but teasing Momo right after. “Are you telling me you don’t want to know too?”

“...” she grumbles to herself as she bites her thumb trying to imagine the possibilities, though getting nowhere, giving way to curiosity and getting restless. “Okay, you got me!! Let’s go, I’m dying of curiosity!”

Wasting no time, they both left running, with Nana smiling for having succeeded in convincing her ‘partner in crime’ and Momo almost drooling because her mind was exaggerating the situation, making her anxiety reach the top.

Approaching Lala’s room, Momo’s imagination was already running wild until they approached and saw a beam of purple light glow faintly as far as the doorway, stop for a moment, and begin to glow again.

Hearing they were just talking, she was slightly frustrated that they were doing nothing much, while she and Nana were curious about what that strange light was.

Silently looking at each other and understanding the message, each one went to a side of  the door and only leaving their eyes out, they peeked into the room discreetly.

“Are you sure this is safe, Lala?” asks Rito in a little disbelief about her invention, but he didn’t want to show too much resistance, since she had spent several days making it.

“100% safe!” she answers with all the certainty in the world, making a ‘V’ sign in one hand while the other holds an oval device the size of her palm, with some displays and buttons in different parts. “Love Love Game-kun was just finishing scanning our organisms!”

“I just still don’t get it why you called me, Lala-san…” says Haruna in almost the same tone as Rito, but avoiding contesting in order not to hurt her friend.

“I-it’s just that… I needed people to test!” she answers apprehensively, trying with all her strength to disguise her intentions, even with the somewhat obvious name of the inventions, since being Lala’s creations, one could expect everything.

“But then you could just call your sisters, right?”

“B-but I wanted it to be you!”

Confused, Rito questioned her decision, appearing to have bought into the motive while Lala just got more puzzled while trying to get him and Haruna together without them noticing.

“Hey Momo… Doesn’t that thing in Ane-ue’s hand look like the computer core we used to make Trouble Quest?”

“Shh! They’ll realize we’re here!”

Even as they whispered to each other, the moment Momo tried to silence Nana, the device in Lala’s hand started again to radiate a beam of light, but this time in the Second Princess’ face, surprising the trio in the room.

Realizing that their disguise had fallen, they both stood at the front of the room smiling gracelessly as the device finished scanning Nana.

“Oops!”

“Nana! Momo!”

Slightly annoyed, Lala pouted at the sight of her younger sisters spying on what they were doing.

“She’s the one who dragged me here, I swear I tried to stop her…” says Momo, forcing a dramatic tone and pointing to her sister, with the device starting to scan her.

“H-hey! You wanted to come as well!”

“I said I’d show you guys later!”

“No need to get angry, Lala…” says Rito scratching his head, trying to calm her down.

“Y-you really reused the Trouble Quest we made? Cool!” says Nana trying to divert the attention from the scolding and intrude in the context. “Let us play too!”

“I-it’s not that! It’s just that…”

Having said that, the device finished scanning Momo and made a brief click as if it had unlocked, leaving everyone either curious or anxious.

“This is weird…” mutters Lala to herself as she puts her forefinger to her mouth thoughtfully.

“W-what is it, Lala?” asks Rito, fearful of the answer he would receive, although deep down he already felt it would lead to something strange.

“I had programmed the Love Love Game-kun just to scan three people… Did I miss something?”

At the same moment, the device began to radiate a purple light and gradually increased until it enveloped everyone and the room.

“I KNEW IT WOULD END UP LIKE TH-”

After Rito’s last cry, the light shone to its fullest, causing everyone in the room to vanish and the silence to once again take over the Yuuki’s residence.
