Prologue

In an enormous dark and dim room with not one single candle light, and at the wall lined with three windows, in the middle were two male figures obscured in darkness, the moon light shined only their faces.

Tension was arising from their faces.

A man, petite and lankier out of the two and the most obscured from any form of light which made him look like a shadow had raised his voice “This isn’t just a battle from a Claim of Challenge Lorex…it’s a full scale war, he has his fifty thousand armed men passing Laseda as we speak…half of them were our own army!”

In retaliation, the bulker and taller one amplified his voice “But doing this would just prove his right!”

‘It really is happening...prince Yval is marching towards the capital...I can’t believe it' A boy who was ordered to stand by and wait by his master couldn’t help himself get affected by their, seemed to be hopeless conversation.

“Convictions won’t save us now!…We need to survive and sealing our borders isn’t the way” The petite man hissed his words out.

And the boy shivered, he still couldn’t believe what was happening.

“I…I can’t do this…he’s my general and our godbrother”

Right, Lorexis just took the words out of the boy’s mind

“A rebel general”

But the shadowed man just had to crush his hope, maybe because the boy knew what his master is capable of. The master looked away towards the center, his figure now half-lit as the moon light outlined his back “The Wesi delegations are already in the city…and their army will be here tomorrow, I have the petition signed by members of Avelia in majority, would have been all…knowing the other members are already marching with prince Yval”

The boy’s wit fell ‘Wesland?...But that’s…’

“You have this entirely ready?” Lorexis asked.

“I need to be….look, we are brothers, the king and the prince are brothers…we both are major players in our current positions, the last thing this kingdom needs is another brothers divided”

“This is too much.... maybe not to you, but to me…”

“There will be bloodbath and terror…but even if something minutely good yielded from it…the people will latch at it like it’s a miracle...basked in son’s light”

“What do you mean by that? “

The moon’s light became bleaker, and Lazur pointed at the boy.

“Boy go bring the King’s seal”

“Ye-Yes Señor!”

The boy entered on an adjacent room, he panted against the closed door, he saw a rare and old insignia of the Kingdom of Eyria, carefully and finely sewn on wide cotton textile spread on the wall on his right, he gazed on it in longing, he marveled over the gilt great haribon creature with its large wings spreading. Such a beautiful creature he thought, and gold is the perfect color.

“My kingdom…the Great Eyria…”

From loss, the boy’s eyes wandered and suddenly there was an unfamiliar lady with dull silver hair wearing loose and flowing thin see through dress lying on a divan leisurely, her head propped on her hand while peering at him. The boy looked at her with confusion; she didn't look like a commoner but not nobility either.

“ Who…who are you?...This is Master’s office” The boy couldn’t have gotten more surprised.

The strange woman smirked, and for a quick second the boy thought she was somewhat glowing “I know….I've been here before...a countless of times… what are you doing here?”

“I'm...I just got hired by Master...are you perhaps...mi Señor's?...” The boy trailed in wonder.

“I'm not....however we are under an agreement” Was the woman’s answer.

“Agreement?”

“It’s an agreement between a man and an idea....but only we could understand it”

Who is she? The boy could only ask himself, as he was very much astounded by the light feelings the woman was eliciting from him.

“May...may I know señora's name?”

The woman laughed, rather oddly mystifying “Maybe...but not now...”

Trumpets honked and blasted the whole palace, signaling an important arrival…the boy quickly turned towards the open arch window…

“It’s the Wesis…Master is going to make it official”

The boy went to his master’s table and picked up a golden seal and a sealing wax stick, he glanced towards where the unfamiliar woman again but there was no more sign of her, disappointed and confused, he left the room quickly.

Several days after that night...the whole capital of  Eyria was covered in smoke while gun shots rung, bringing horror to the civilians and lost children, they could only look up to the sky where it was the only thing that was clear at that moment.

And from the soiled earth, arising from blood and dead bodies was a new era of continuing apprehensive days, seemingly alright but would never be...seemingly progressing only to regress tenfold more.

Nobody knew how much more blood was needed to be spilled to attain the kind of living no one was hoping for but badly needed...they could only hope it wouldn't be for the worse.
