At the age of 19, I died.

I was losing blood, slowly, my body was becoming colder. My breath became more ragged as I lost consciousness.

There was a dull pain that came with approaching death. Physical but most painful was the mental realization that I was going to die. I didn’t want to die.

But still...

“Thank god.”

I closed my eyes.

When I came to, I was lying down on white marble. The blood that was dripping from my body to the concrete floor on the street was gone. Any pain that I was feeling now was nonexistent.

I looked around, trying to find out what was going on.

“Woah!”

Two large wings parted in front of me, revealing a beautiful woman with golden hair and clear blue eyes. Her attire was a white toga with gold pins. On her head she wore a laurel wreath.

She was very much like a Greek goddess, floating in place.

“Welcome to the Waiting World.” She smiled.

“Ah...so I really did die.”

“Oh yes,” She said. “that you did.”

“Am I in heaven?”

“No, the Waiting World is for souls that need to make a choice.”

“What choice?”

She continued, her smile becoming more gentle. She stretched her hand out with an open palm as she said:

“Sean. All your life you have been virtuous, the pinnacle of human morality, which is why you will be allowed to be a main character in a harem anime.”

My head hurt. Me? I don’t remember much. Visions came in a blur as I tried to find answers.

I felt my heart sank alittle. My memories were in a mess.

But seriously?! A harem? Hell yeah! My dream of being a protagonist in a world catered to me was becoming a reality. I shed a single tear of happiness.

Excitement welled up from within me. There really is a god out there. I smiled back and silently thanked this goddess from the bottom of my heart.

How will I act? Maybe I’ll just pretend to be one of those clueless protagonists. No no, I’m a one man-one woman kind of guy. Besides clueless protagonists have always frustrated me.

The goddess simply waited as my plans for paradise swirled in my mind.

“I realize that this may not be what you desire. You can also choose to reincarnate in a normal life instead.”

“W-will it really be like anime?” I hesitated. I could only hope. This was a once in a lifetime, oh my god, glorious jackpot moment that most men only dream of.

She gave me a weary smile.

“Remarkably so.”

“So I will start out in high school?”

“Yes.”

Nice! It’ll be like I never died.

“Alright goddess I’m ready! Take me to my fantasy!”

I always knew that I was destined for greatness.

“Very well.”

White light began to fill the room. A reassuring warmth coursed throughout my entire body.

“Sophia? Are you awake?”

“...”

“Yo Sophia wake up!”

“Mmm...leave me alone.”

Someone started to pinch my cheeks.

“God. What am I going to do with you?” I heard a sigh come from a stranger’s voice.

Sophia? Who’s that?

Huh? Something is missing...

I slowly opened my eyes, now seeing a neat girly pink room with stuffed animals.

“You’re finally awake. Phew. Maybe we won’t be late for the billionth time.”

A girl looking exhausted appeared in front of me. It seems as though she had been trying to wake me up for awhile now.

Wow...I knew that I would be frequented by girls but I didn’t know I would this early.

“Hey...”

“Ugh. Hello sleepy? Yeah I’m your friend, Yoko, remember?

Yoko?

“Oh...”

The girl moved closer, squishing my face with her hands.

“What do you mean “oh”? You didn’t really forget my name did you?!”

“Wah...”

“Hmph! Cmon. We’re late for school!”

I went to the bathroom feeling groggy. I must have slept late.

“Need to pee...”

“M-my....it’s missing!”

“KYAAAAAAAAAA!!!”

A girlish scream escaped my lips throughout the house.
