When someone asks you what do you hate the most, what comes to your mind first? For me the answer used to change frequently in my mind in the early days but after that time...the time when it all started...since then my answer has remained the same.

*WEAKNESS*

As I was taking my last breaths the images of all those who took advantage of me because of my weakness came to my mind... I was infuriated, more at myself than on them. Everytime I was mistreated, betrayed, blackmailed by them I took it as a lesson and worked harder and harder to strengthen myself...but if only working hard was enough.

When the huge portal opened up and filled the whole world with dark purple smoke, everyone was at first worried about what was happening. At first militaries from all around the world tried their own things. Thousands of missiles were fired at the huge portal but they all were unable to do anything to it and ended up bursting after making contact with the entrance of the portal.

As a result scientists from all around the world started researching the miasma that was coming out of the portal inorder to reduce the fear that had penetrated to the deep bones of the citizens of their countries and while at it also satiate their curiosity.

It was all for naught though. Every content that was present in the gas was new and something that had never been seen before as a result they were forced to test the properties of the purple smoke which delayed the process making the citizens more anxious from the waiting.

Riots started happening all around the world...well can't blame them cause anyone would go batshit crazy If they suddenly won't be able to see sun for more than a month. Thankfully the smoke emanating from the portal was of luminous nature so not all were at the brink of losing their sanity.

Two months from the day of its appearance...the portal...it suddenly disappeared or to be precise...closed itself. With it the continuous flow of the purple smoke also ended and within only a few hours the purple smoke cleared out allowing the rays of the sun to enter the planet again.

Though just as the smoke cleared out even more weirder things started happening all around the world. Several small portals started spawning at very close proximity to the ground all around the world alerting everyone who saw them. Pictures and videos of their appearances spread in the news and social media like a wild fire all around the world just like how it happened when the large portal appeared two months back.

Two main differences between the current small portals and the previous one were highlighted by everyone who saw these portals...Firstly unlike the big portal which was emanating dark purple clounds these smaller portals didn't do anything. The second difference was the colour. The big portal's interior also had a purplish colour similar to that of the smoke it was emanating but the smaller portals had a light blue crystal like colour.

Governments all around the world tried their best to make sure that their citizens remain at a safe distance from the portals...unfortunetly they couldn't control all of them and soon the news of people disappearing the moment they touched the portal emerged.

As if that was not enough just after a few hours many humans developed strange powers within themselves and unlocked something known as the status bar which helped them know about their abilities. These people were initially few on numbers and carried the risk of being subdued by the government because of the fear their strange powers brought to the citizens but this changed into reverence when these people with unfounded powers helped in saving humanity from the brink of extinction. These people were from then on were called 'awakened'.

Exactly 24 hours after the spawning of the small portals all around the world they all turned red simultaneously following which unknown creatures started appearing from them. These creatures were almost immune to firepower and if not for the 'awakened' their was almost no hope for the survival of humanity.

"Doctor! Doctor! CAll THE DOCTOR!! He opened his eyes!"

I just woke up from what felt like a long slumber and the first thing I heard was someone shouting just before my ears. My blurred vision became a little less blurry as I finally was able to somewhat perceive my surroundings.

A person in white coat suddenly placed his face in front of mine and used his hands to look closely at my eyeballs and then turning sideways to the woman who was shouting.

"Ma'am that is indeed so the case. This seems like a miracle...with his body's condition I was not expecting him to open his eyes just 10 days after the accident." The doctor told to someone next to him who was not in my visible range.

"That means he'll recover soon right?" The woman asked the doctor worriedly.

"Yes, after a month of rehabilitation he would become as fit as before." The doctor replied to her worries.

Giving out sigh of relief the woman came towards me and I finally saw her face.

"M...m-mom" I unconsciously called her out the moment I saw her face.

"Yes, it's me Willson. No need to worry, you'll recover from the car accident soon." My mother said as she caressed my head.

'Car accident?...now that I think of it...this place isn't this where I was in coma for two months? Was it all a dream? Or maybe I'm back to the past? Well I'll figure it out with time anyway...I should focus on more important things now. 

I just looked at the happy teary face of my mother who was caressing my head. I wanted to say many things but words won't come out from my mouth. Maybe it was due to my body's weakness or because of being too emotionally affected after seeing her. 

My mother sat down beside me and told me about what all happened during the time I was passed out. How my father and little brother were heart broken when they heard that I was in a coma. She also talked about my few friends from the University who came to visit me and then shifted to miscellaneous things related to what all happened in the news.

After about an hour realising that I was too tired my mother told me to rest and went back home.

The next day my father and brother came along with my mother saying that they wanted to come yesterday only but we're stopped by mother who told them that he needed to rest.

It felt good seeing them all again...cause in my dream...let's hope that it was a dream...they all died during the first day of the monster breakout.

Now compared to yesterday my head was also clearer so I was able to say with confidence that I was sent back to the past and it was not a dream and from what I know..in just a month the large portal that will fill the world with dark purple clouds will open up.
